How do I get my previously purchased ringtones on my new iphone?
i bought ring and text tones on my old iPhone, I had to replace it today and cant get them on the new phone. I went to the app store, selected the files in question and they asked, "You have bought this before, do you want to buy it again?". I dont want to buy them again. I should be able to get them on the new one without repurchasing them..? Right?
You have to transfer ringtones purchases from iPhone 4S to iTunes manually.
Connect and select iPhone 4S in iTunes, right click your iPhone under DEVICES and choose Transfer Purchases...
Ringtone is not part of the backup and re-downloading ringtone is not free.
After you've transferred your purchases, go to the iTunes Tones tab, select the tones and sync with your new iPhone.

Doesn't work. The problem is with step 7 of the instructions you referenced (http://support....apple....com/kb/HT2519 ). Step 7 reads, "click on the download icon to download that item."
The problem is that there is no "download icon" and yes, my country ( USA) permits re-downloads.
Apple support says, "click the iCloud download button next to each item to download them one by one, or click the iCloud Download All button at the bottom."
Unfortunately, there is no "iCloud download button" at all. On the "purchases" tab under the iTunes store= music, all the tabs are greyed out and read "downloaded". There are no other options.

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library. -

On your phone: App Store>Purchased...you can download purchased content directly to your phone. Or, just sync it to your phone from iTunes. No, you don't have to purchase again. Of course, apps that are iPad versions only will not sync to your phone or be able to be downloaded to your phone.

Help please :-)Audiobooks are a one-time only download from the store, so you will need to sync them from your Mac's iTunes library - if they aren't all on there but are still on your old iPad, then connect the old iPad to your Mac's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over to your Mac so that you can then sync them.

Depending on what country that you are in you might be able to re-download past music purchases via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page - re-downloading : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
But if you only re-installed iTunes and you didn't remove the actual music from your computer, then it should still be on there, and you should be able to add it back into iTunes via File > Add Folder To Library - by default your iTunes content should have been stored under :
Windows 7 and Vista : \users\username\My Music\iTunes.
Windows XP : \user\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes. -

If you have copies of them on your computer's iTunes then you should be able to - if they show in the Tones part of your iTunes library then you should be able to sync them to your new phone. Or do you not have copies of them on your computer nor on your backup of your library ?
