I called a friend and his voicemail spoke to me by name and said that he was unavailable to leave a message... how do I get my iphone to do that?

Depends on your carrier. With AT&T you open your voicemail, tap Greeting at the top, select Custom, then record your greeting. Don't know how it works with other carriers but you could call yours to find out.

Voicemails are a vital part of having a working phone. We do suggest that you look at the contact and then the number to make sure that it is *86. If you are needing to get your voicemails until then, please dial *86.

How can I get my voice memos back to the voice memo app on my iphone

Yeah, i just synced my iphone with my iTunes library and almost everything went smooth.. my pictures, apps, contacts, calendar, etc. But I can not find the most important thing, the voice memos.. I had transferred them to my iTunes library the last time i synced, so i thought logically they should sync back into my voice memo app. Its important because they were lectures (im in college)! And I planned to keep in order until the end of the semester until i had to restore it and back it up (because i went to get a new iphone)..
But now, i open the voice memo app, and its blank, there's not one memo.. And i don't know how to get them back in there.. I think i could put them in my Music library, but i dont want to do that. I like to keep them in the voice memo app, so when i have exams i can just go back and listen to them in order (without them being all over the place.)
So all I'm asking is, is there a way to get my voice memos back to the voice memo app? I have the latest version of iTunes (11.0.1.12) and an iPhone 4 with the latest iOs (6.0.1) and note i have a PC (Windows 7).. I hate how iTunes totally changed their layout, it makes it harder. That's why i couldn't follow older discussions on here, because the update made the layout so different.. Anyway, if you know what i should do, i would be very grateful. Thanks.

I have some information here that may help you import your voice memos into iTunes. This information is written for the iPod, but the steps for saving your voice memos should be the same with your iPhone:
Synchronize
If iPod is set to update songs automatically and you record voice memos, the voice memos are automatically downloaded to a playlist in iTunes when you connect iPod. Once downloaded, the voice memos are removed from the Voice Memos folder on your iPod. To play the voice memos that have been synchronized to your computer in iTunes, select the Voice Memos playlist on the left side of the iTunes window. To play the synchronized voice memos on the iPod, select the Voice Memos playlist in the Music menu, not the Voice Memos menu in the Extras menu.

How can I get ALL voice mail recordings off my number?

We use RingCentral to get simultaneous ring between our home and Verizon cell phone. But what was happening, was that the voice mail on my Verizon cell would pick up before I could get to the home phone, then no one would be there. We were losing clients for our small home business.
So I asked Verizon to take ALL recordings off the cell phone account. Instead, NOW clients are calling, and before I can answer the home phone, they get a recording on my cell, saying that the mailbox is not set up!
I called Verizon tech support today and the guy could NOT remove ALL recordings from my account, he said I had to do it myself, but I don't know HOW! That was why I called THEM!!!
When someone calls us, I JUST want the Verizon wireless to ring FOREVER, unless I answer it, and NOT to go picking up with stupid recordings, before I can get to my home phone!

I am sorry to hear of the issues you are having. In regards to removing the messages from your voicemail on your phone you would have to dial *86 from your cellular device which will route you to the voicemail system and ask you to enter in your password. Once the password has been entered in you can go through and listen and delete the messages.
As for wanting your phone to ring without being routed to a voicemail or receiving a recording that the voicemail box has not been set up, I apologize as we are not able to do that. On cellular devices there is not option to prevent the phone from going to voicemail. The system is set to have an set number of rings and then route to voicemail and this can not be changed. If you would like you can set up call forwarding on your cellular phone which will route your calls to your home system instead of going to voicemail. How can I get a font's filename from the font's name?

Hello all. I'm trying to copy a font from C:\WINDOWS\Fonts to another directory, but it's not always possible. To copy it I need the font's filename but, through Javascript, I can only get its name (not to confuse with the file name), family or PostScript name. For instance, "OCR A Extended"'s filename is "OCRAEXT.TTF", but I couldn't find a way to resolve the second name from the first (and tried a lot of things).
My first workaround has been opening a File.openDialog when the font's name and filename do not match, so the user goes to "WINDOWS\Fonts" and selects the file, but this directory is a bit tricky and will never accept the selection. However, if the font is any other directory that "Fonts", the file can be selected without problems.
I can figure some ways to solve this (for instance, asking the user to get the filename by himself and type it in a text box) but I'd rather ask here just in case there's an easy way I couldn't find out in the manual neither in the forums.

It creates Fontlist.txt on the desktop, you could even call the script from the jsx and read the values in once the file has been created.

Just call your own 10-digit number from any phone, and when your voicemail greeting starts to play, press #. It will prompt you for your password, and from that point it's as if you were calling from your phone.

How can i get my apple mail to show the top item

This is a small thing that is driving me nuts.
When I click on a mailbox, it starts the list at various places, instead of at the top. Usually it is one item down, so I have to scroll to get to the newest item.
Sometimes it starts in the middle of the list, so nearly every time I need to scroll a few millimeters up the list to read the new ones.
Why would it do this? It strikes me as being designed that way, but maybe it is just 'off' a bit in specs.
Any way I can adjust this? If not, Apple, could you please make this small adjustment?

I click on my sent messages to see the last one I sent. The window does not start at the top of my list, it starts at item number 6.
Every single time I go into sent mail I have to do the extra step of moving the right hand side slider up to the top.

Your Basic voice mail is a free required program for you if you do not want Basic Visual Voice mail (free) or Premium which is a paid service. Basic Voice Mail set up is free and easy to do.
1. Sign in to your My Verizon online account.
2. On left side of page in Blue letters find the drop down menu. Click to open menu then go to change features and locate Basic Voice mail and click the Red add button.
3. When you're done making this change click next at the bottom of the screen and then ok.
4. Now go into your device and set up your Basic voice mail program. You may continue to receive an error message for a period of time “Visual voice mail update”, just clear and disregard.

Go to Mail Preferences>Accounts, click the '+' button below the list of accounts and insert the settings, username and password as instructed. I will address your second question.
First, make sure your iPhone and iPad have absolutely identical Apple IDs. If they do, use that Apple ID in Settings > iCloud on your iPhone to select the "Notes" option. Lo and behold, all your iCloud notes should appear on your iPhone.

I Finally resolved my problem after much research. On my I pad 4 with retina in the field under settings there is a list to choose from-- ex. Aol,Google, yahoo, etc. I chose other and entered att. Used pw and bingo! Problem resolved. It is somewhat configured a little different; but at least I can get all of my 500 e mails.
apple takes IMAP but this is under pop And at least my persistence paid off. You would think something so simple would be informative to us in a better way.
