Hi, I cant figure out how to transfer my w. Media player songs to my itunes?? I am still new at this can someone help me out? It asked me once along time ago but i didnt have any of my music on there then!!! Thank you so much for any help. I appreciate it! Emmers.

Anyway, I have 56 songs transfered from Windows Media Player to iTunes. I've done this over the course of one and half years at about every two or three month intervals. Every time I discovered new songs something changed in my Mom's PC and I would have to import into iTunes differently; for example, I would convert the songs and then just drag and drop into iTunes or save the playlist as a format that could be converted in iTunes. Right now I have about twenty songs in WMP waiting for iTunes. When I do drag and drop songs from WMP to iTunes they appear in iTunes but they won't sync to my Nano. They won't convert to AAC file either. Now, these are songs from the internet and that is exactly how iTunes reads them; files from a website. Is there anyway to get my songs into iTunes? I tried everything Dave Sawyer and Chris CA said but nothing seems to be working!

Putting Windows Media Player songs into my iTunes
I just added six cds to my windows media player, and iTunes won't let me import them into it. It didn't have a problem with importing all my songs the first time. Your sevlet will have to set the response contentType to the appropriate mime type

and contentLength to the file size (in bytes), then open the mp3/wma file and write the bytes to the servlet output stream.
You could also choose to return an asx file (an xml document containing a url of the media file), and windows media player will automatically lookup the mp3/wma file stored on your web server. -

click on File right at the top corner of the screen and a menu appears from which you choose add file or folder.
I'd also suggest you change your preferences to keep your iTunes library organised, To do that choose Edit at the top of the screen, then click on preferences at the bottom of the list. There's a row of icons with words below them, you need the last one 'advanced'. Tick the box against Keep iTunes Media Folder Organised and the one against Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library - which will ensure any music or video you add to your computer by importing it into itunes will go into folders within the iTunes Folders on your computer.
I'd also suggest ticking the option further down that screen for 'warn me if itunes is not the default player for audio files' - I'm assuming you want to play your music via itunes and not windows media player so you need iTunes to be the default player.
Note though that when you have ticked the boxes iTunes will then go through your music library organising it so you will need to wait while it does that - doesn't take long. -

First of all - great stuff this forum! Had some issues with my new Mini but finally got it up and running thanks to the Q&A's here. One thing I couldn't find though, and that's how to transfer songs from my media player to iTunes.
Here's the thing: First time I installed iTunes, it automatically started importing songs from Windows Media player (harddisk?) to iTunes - happy days! It all went sort of slow though and at one point I had to leave the house so I switched off the comp, assuming it'd get on with it again next time.
However, it didn't. Now I've been trying over and over but I cannot manage to get more songs imported into iTunes. Any suggestions?
Also (minor problem), in iTunes I can see a LimeWire directory, with all the songs in there I downloaded ages ago through LimeWire (sorry, I know it's wrong, shame on me, this was before my iPod era). I can play these songs in iTunes, but not send them to my Mini. Any ideas or is this impossible?

You'll end up with a set of duplicates so you can delete the WMA files if you no longer want them. -

I am trying to view videos online and I constantly get that ? and a dialogue box asking if I want to download Windows Media Player, so I do and the application cannot be opened. The icon after dowloaded is just a little piece of paper, so I am thinking it doesn't recognize it as an application. It then proceeds to ask me to specify the program it would like to open in. The first thing you will have to do is import the music that is currently in your Windows Media Player library over to your iTunes library because that is the only way you will be able to sync any music to it. 0x1) is there a way to disable annoying autoplay feature in windows media player: when i play music in "now playing" mode and insert a disc which contains some video WMP stops playing music and asks me to play that disc or starts playing without any questions (e.g. when i insert DVD). in addition when WMP asks before playing it proposes three options: resume playing, go to library and play previous list. choosing "resume playing" you'll not resume the music just played, you'll start playing inserted disc. if you choose "play previous list", it also won't continue the playlist i was just playing, rather a playlist or track before the one i was just playing! very strange behaviour, isn't it?
note that this happends only in "now playing" mode, when library is active everything works fine.
please don't tell to go to control panel and change autoplay settings: it takes no effect. it works when WMP is not started or if WMP is not in "now playing" mode, otherwise WMP ignores that settings and demonstrates his "very intellectual"automatic playing.
0x2) when playing FLAC files windows media player doesn't show progress indicator, it always is positioned at the beginning (or at the place where you've positioned it). if i select multiple FLAC files and click "play with windows media player" it will play only the last file from the selected list.
0x3) when playing AVI files with two or more audio tracks WMP plays only one of them and gives no opportunity to change autio track. in wmp of vista it plays all the audio tracks at the same time (!).
If there is no solution for these problems, please tell me where i can send a feedback about my complaints?i use K-Lite 5.2 full codec pack. in the k-lite codec tweak tool report i see madFLAC.ax installed. i'll try the Xiph.org filters.
