How do I get my wireless Mac to recognize a wired printer?
Hi,
I don't know where to go on the Mac to have it "look for" my Epson WorkForce printer (which is connected to a PC).
Can someone please direct me or tell me if it's do-able. It being a new printer, I would hope so, but...

You need to set up the PC to share the printer. Utilize the Windows OS on your PC for instructions on that.

What have you tried so far?
The process is normally to get it to join your network (you use a router?) using the control panel on the printer. With some printers you need to be connected via a cable during the setup process, which gets unplugged when setup is complete.

Copying files is not a good idea.
The "other Mac" was backed up onto Time Capsule using the Time Machine. On your new Mac you should restore the old user - rather than copy files manually.
This usually happens during the initial setup of the new computer or you can do it later using Migration Assistant.
Please note, it is possible to damage backup file on the Time Capsule when you browse it and copy files manually.

That doesn't sound good. It sounds like the power outage might have corrupted the partition for OS X. I would suggest booting from the Install DVD that came with your Mac while holding down the C key. Once you have selected the language start up Disk Utility from the pull down menu and repair the disk. Once you have done that then repair permissions also.

To get rid of it, just force quit the browser. If you installled it, or its installer ran:
First, restart in Safe Boot by holding the Shift key down at the chime. Or, alternatively, open Activity Monitor in Utilities, set to Active Processes, find the program and force quit it. This will keep it from running, so you can remove it.
1. Drag the MacSecurity program -- or whatever it's called, MAC Defender, MacProtector (installed in the Applications folder by default) to the Trash. Empty the Trash.
2. Remove item of same name from the Login Items for your Account in the OS X System Preferences (if it exists).
3. Go to your Home folder Library>Preferences and Application Support (may not be one there) and search for any files with one of the above names and trash them. Empty the trash.
4. If you use Safari, go to Preferences>General and UNCHECK "Open "safe" files after downloading. Keep that unchecked.
If you paid for it, they have your credit card #. Call your credit card and dispute the charges. Also, cancel the card ASAP.
As a precaution, change your password. -

What Mac do you have, only early 2011 or later (mid 2011 for some) supports mirror, even with Mountain Lion. If you mac is older it won't work. You can get an app such as airparrot to to it for about 10 bucks.
If you mac is a 2011 or later, when you are on the same network as your apple tv, home sharing on and all set up the mirror icon should be next to the clock and be good to use.

System Preferences/Network/Advanced Button.... Highlight mac donald and hit the minus sign.
You can also re-order the list in the order of most important to least important by clicling and dragging up and down.
