How do i get my wma files to play in itunes?

I thought i converted them to mp3 files and they still won't play. They show up in my library and folder as mp3 but the time is at 0:00 and just starts to play the next song.

tweetyfan70,
And EasyWMA did not give an error? Suggest you use your Windows machine to make sure the originals really are WMAs and that they play OK in WMP.
If they are protected, see my previous post.
If they are not, you can convert with iTunes on your Windows machine. This is simply a matter of adding them to iTunes on Windows; iTunes will ses that they are WMAs and will create new files in your iTunes-specified import format. (Make sure that is mp3 by setting it in Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Importing.) I believe it will do this without authorizing, but if you have to, just authorize, and deauthorize when you are done. Copy the resulting mp3s to your Mac.

  • Anyone know how I can get an audio file imported into my iTunes' podcast directory, rather than the music directory?

Anyone know how I can get an audio file imported into my iTunes' podcast directory, rather than the music directory?
I downloaded a series of podcasts recently.  They were imported into my "music" directory instead, making it more difficult for me to recall where I left off with the last podcast I listened to before having to stop it for whatever reason.  Thanks in advance for any help.

You can do it, though the result isn't ideal. Import your episode, then select it in the Music list and hit command-i to bring up the info panel:
However each episode you do this with will turn up as a 'podcast' with no name - and it doesn't seem possible to give it one - containing the one episode:

  • Wma files to play on itunes

Sorry if this has already be covered to death but i cant find what im looking for. I am a recent mac user and my music library that i had on pc is in wma format and i am having trouble converting these files to play on itunes . I have the free version of flip4mac and can play some of these files in quicktime and the other music files when i try to play then come up with (osstatus error 19000) what does this mean and will i ever be able to play these files on my mac.
    Regards....Steve

Limnos is probably right. WMA files will be protected either if they were ripped with Windows Media Player with protection enabled, or if they were purchased from an online store that sells in that format. If that is what you have, get access to a Windows PC and use Windows Media Player to burn the songs to an audio CD. Think how handy it would be to have them on an audio CD.

  • Getting protected wma files to import into itunes

i have a couple of wma files that are protected and will not import into itunes because of the protected content. is there any way around this?

If you are able to burn those protected files to an audio CD, then that audio CD will act like any CD that you would purchase in your local store.

  • How do I convert old wma files to AACs within iTunes on my Macbook Air?

I just bought a new Macbook Air (converting from a PC), and imported all my music files via external HD to my desktop. From there, iTunes searched the music folder on my Air's desktop and found alot of the files (mp3s) without issue. There are alot of files, however, that are not registering in iTunes (wmas). Is there a way to convert them to AACs on the Mac without having to download extra programs? On my PC, iTunes would offer to switch these files automatically to AAC, but on the Air I'm not receiving this notification nor do I see an option to do so. Please help!

I was just having a very similar problem. I've had my MacBook Air for a few years now and I haven't had any trouble.
My mom just recently sent me recordings of an old CD I used to listen to--they are wma files.  I have flip4mac and quicktime, so I can play them no problem. However, I can't add them to my iTunes library and I can't add it to my iPhone playlist. I tried duplicating and saving the quicktime file as an iTunes audio format, and I tried exporting to iTunes, but it keeps saying "Cannot Open This Media may be damaged."
I used the Switch converter, and was able to add it to my iTunes Library after converting. Lucky for me, I only had to convert 12 songs. Really good app, thanks!

  • How do I get my music files to imported to itunes

I recently bought the latest iMac and used the Migration Assistant to import all my music from my old computer. I can see on the iMac where my music files are but iTunes won't import them. No clue what's going on right now.

How did you Migrate? On original Startup, or after starting up and creating a user.
If the latter, then you migrated data is in the migrated user's account.
If that is the case, log into the other account and move the music into the /Users/Shared folder. Then, log into the account you want to use and import the music into iTunes.
If that is not the case, please explain where your music is located.

  • How do i get iphone backup files to show in itunes?

    Hi.
Ive recently had to start using another computer due to a component failure, and as a result managed to wiped my iphone of its original contents during an update on the 'new' computer. I have my old hard drive connected to this computer via a docking station, and can access all the files on it with no problems. I've deleted any itunes stuff on the 'new' computer so that the only apple/itunes stuff is on my old hard drive, but when i launch itunes, its not like it was when i left it. no music loaded in library etc. not a major issue as the music is all still on the hard drive. My issue is with the apps and back ups for my phone. I can view the folders with the back ups in, but they wont show in itunes. I'd love to restore my phone back to how it use to be.
Can anyone help me out, as i'm at a brick wall with my knowledge level.
    thanks in advance
    Dave.

You can open an alternate library by holding down shift when starting iTunes.
A GUID is a Globaly Unique IDentifier. I this case I the backup folders appear to be named bunch of numbers & letters probably meant to be unique. If your original library opens properly (and you haven't wiped the device) then you don't need to worry about restoring the iPhone backups from the previous system.
There's another GUID buried in the iTunes Library.itl that identifies your old library as the "home" library for your device. If you try to connect the device to a new library, even if it has all the same content, iTunes will want to wipe the device and start over. Not so much a problem for media but you might lose app settings. Best if you can connect properly to your old library, otherwise restoring from a preserved backup should restore your app data.

  • How can i get my SWF file to play my music?

So i've put my music on the document and it plays normal whenever I play it through the flash file. However, when I press command + enter to play it as the swf, the music is completely silent. I've tried turning the music file to raw speech and 44 khz as the sample rate, but I don't know what else to do from there. Its still not playing though. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello there. Have you been able to figure this out yet? My mother just got a new nano and I bought her an audible.com account. I'm not sure how she can access her books on her nano...thanks!

  • HT1473 How do you get old RealPlayer files to open in iTunes?

I've been using Real Player as my main audio player and recently switched to iTunes.  I cannot get iTunes to recognize and play any of my RealPlayer audio files.  When I try to 'add files' it will not let me access anything past the Music folder.

As I know, iTunes supports M4A format the best. And this format is also developed by Apple Inc. If you do want to play your old realplayer mp3 files on iTunes, you'd better use some audio converter to make a simple conversion.  If you don't mind, i've used a helpful one, and you can download it to have a try. This converter supports batch converting. iOrgSoftVideo Converter. Actually it's an audio & video converter.
I do wish it can help.

  • How do I get my AVI files to play with Lion

I uploaded my AVI files from my video camera and when I try to plan them with Lion my computer tells me that a required codec isn't available.  My photos from the same camera do not have any issue uploading and are able to be viewed.  Please help.

I uploaded my AVI files from my video camera and when I try to plan them with Lion my computer tells me that a required codec isn't available.
AVI is is a frame interleaving container. While the file container is supported by QT, its specific audio and video compression formats may or may not be supported. In addition, it is a very old file type for which official support was dropped more than a decade ago. Since you did not indicate which specific audio and/or video codecs are used by your camera, I can only discuss generalities and not any specifics here. Firstly, the file may contain older "lagacy" audio and video compression formats which may require the QT 7 Player and its older 32-bit QT routines for proper handling. Secondly, if codecs are missing, your best option may be to install the Parian codec component package for use by the QT 7 Player. This package contains codec support for many commonly used AVI audio/video compression format combinations. However, be advised that many AVI codecs whave never be transcoded for use on a Mac or for use with OS X or the Intel based systems. In addition. installing the Perian package may may create codec conflicts with other third-party codecs like DivX, XviD, etc., so be sure to read the Perian support page if you install this software. In any case, once Perian and QT 7 are properly installed on a Lion platform, AVI files using commonly used AVI codec combinations should become playable in the QT 7 Player app.
As previously mentioned, your other options would be to use a third-party multimedia player like VLC which contains its own built-in codecs for playback or use a conversion application like FFmpegX or HandBrake to convert your AVI files into fully compatible QT files.

  • How do I get email audiobook file (MP3) to my ITunes account so I can listen to book while driving on long trip?

I need the steps to upload from my email account an audiobook on to Itunes. any suggestions?

If you mean that you are receiving an audiobook as an attachment to an email, then presuming that audiobook isn't copy-protected and locked to someone else's account and it's a format iTunes can accept, just save the attachment, locate it on your system, and drag it into the iTunes windows.
If that doesn't help, please post back and clarify what it is you are trying to accomplish.
    Regards.

  • How do you convert an MP3 file to play in iTunes.

I followed the directions in the Technical Support Section and when I highlight the file and click on it, the advanced tab doesn't allow you to highlight the "convert" option since it only appears in light grey. Any suggestions?

Ok. Are you sure that they are .mp3 files? In iTunes, highlight one of the offending files and Get Info. What does it say on the Summary tab next to format? Does it say MPEG-1, Layer 3? If yes, it's an .mp3 file. If not, what does it say. If it really is an mp3 file, opening it with Quicktime. What happens? If it's an mp3 file, it may have corrupted tag information. iTunes is rather sensitive to that. You can try going to the Advanced menu in iTunes and selecting Convert ID3 tags.... I'd choose version 2.4 and see if that helps.
    Best of luck.

  • How do I get Music Video's to play in iTunes on iPad Mini with Shuffle option on Playlists (it's only playing the music not video's)?

Hi. I have got Music Video's on iPad Mini on a Playlist on iTunes. When I use 'shuffle' option the audio of the track is heard but no video is played (only a 'still' from the video). When using the Video option on the desktop, plays videos but does not allow you to 'playlist' them or shuffle them. I can shuffle Music Video playlist on iPhone and on PC. So why not on iPad Mini. Can someone help? Thanks

There does not appear to ba a facilty for this on the iPad. However there are a number of apps that will allow you to create and play video playlists. Try VP Lite which is free.
