You can put their names/numbers in your Contacts and the name will show when they text you, depending on how they have their iMessage Caller ID setup... Settings > Messages > Receive At > Caller ID

That is only for sending SMS if the iMessage user is not available via wifi or data.
If sending text to non-iphone user, that setting does nothing.

I migrated my account from my older macbook pro with the same OSX.
I initially setup the account with my full username and account name the same as on the old machine - but soon discovered that the Migration Assistant wouldn't allow migration this way (the most obvious scenario).
So I was instructed by Apple Support to create a new different Administrator Account, then remove the old account and perform the Migration. This seemed to work
After completing the migration I can now log in with my former full Account Name and password (this account has "allow user to administer Computer set") however I now cannot use the Full Account name to authorize changes - it seems not to recognize the password - however I can authorize changes with the short account name and password.
How can I configure the system so it will recognize the full account name for authorizations?

Since you failed to do the migration on first boot, the full system name only applies to the original account you set up. All other accounts use the short username. Although you thought you did it the most obvious way, you didn't. The simplest way to get the new machine to act like the old one is to erase the new one, reinstall the software as described in the user manual, and on first boot DON'T create any user account, but use the setup assistant to migrate everything from the old MB. That will solve all of your issues. Afterwards, reinstall any other software that's on the discs that shipped with the machine, run Software Update to get everything up to date, repair permissions, and restart.

Text messages stall when sending to other iPhone users from my iPhone5- recently started, how to get the texts to go through instantly?

Recently, after updating for i0S7, when texting other iPhone users, my texts never go through. However, if I hold on the test it will give me the option to "send as a text message" and will send immediately (with the green message, unlike the blue that use to send to iPhone users). How can I get these text messages to go immediately?

Reset your network settings:
1) Turn off iMessage
2) Reset network settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Netwok Settings
3) Turn iMessage back on
Note: resetting your network settings will delete any stored WiFi passwords.

Hi - you have will have to change the device passwords on all the base stations and then don't give them to anyone except the administrators and tell them not to save them on their computers that use the older versions of the Airport Utility - for the newer versions like the mobile apps, as soon as you enter the pasword it is saved and is visible in the advanced pane along with the network password - so if anyone gets a hold of your iPad or iPhone, they can edit the whole network - I have this same issue with my networks in the office and it is inconvenient but doable - I hope this helps

The apps are tied to the account from which they were purchased. If the apps were purchased from the previous owners account, then they would have to be updated from that account. you should not have these apps anyway. You need to buy your own.
Read the manual. it will tell you how to sign into your account to buy apps.

Well, the biggest problem is that you don't know (probably) a head of time how many names are in the table.
So i'd first stuff them into a managed array such as ArrayList
So you'd
(1) Iterate over the resultset
(1.1) for each row call getString() on the user field
(1.1) call add on the ArrayList to add the string
(2) Call toArray on the ArrayList to convert it to a plain array
(NOTE: you will have to pass a String[] {""} arg as a parm to
toArray() to get the right type of array.)

I have updated my mac account details for my mobile me account on my phone but I keep getting "cannot get mail" as user name or password for.mac account is incorrect. Did you try to delete the MobileMe account on the phone and set it up again after that?
You can also try to replace the account info on the phone during the next sync, if you select this option in the info pane, Advanced Section, with your phone connected to iTunes.

I suggest contacting your carrier, typically if there is an issue with caller id its an issue with the carrier.

How do you handle change in user names if folks get married or divorced

If an application is using the apex authentication scheme, how do you handle change in user names if folks get married or divorced. The reason I ask the question is that all of apex uses v('app_user'), which is the user_name. If I have transactions done by this user and then their name changes, which means so does their id, how do I get all of their transactions, before and after the name change. Traditionally I would expect to use user_id, not sure if this feature is still available. I can always create a custom auth scheme, but that is a lot of additional work. Any ideas?

I plan on doing the following to use user_id for auditing of transaction records:
1. Get the user_id to use in the tables audit trail fields
user_id := apex_util.get_user_id(v('app_user'));
OR
user_id := apex_util.get_current_user_id;
2. If a user changes their name then use
apex_util.set_last_name(p_user_id, p_new_lastname);
apex_util.set_username(p_userid, p_new_username);
