    Hi,
Trying to set up the ipad (a few years old) after updating to iSOS 8 and we are stuck at the set up stage. It seems to be stuck at the connect to itunes page. When we connect to itunes it will start sync...then gets the end and says it can't sync as its not set up...but that is what i'm trying to do!! Help!

Which version of firefox are you using? Please update to the latest version if you have not already.
Also are you putting capital letters into the email field? Try using all lower case.

  • Install iOS5 to my iphone4, but cannot get past Connect to iTunes

After installing the iOS5 system to my iphone 4, after synching through iTunes, the phone is locked on the "Connect to iTunes" page; cannot go any further. HELP!

Two things to consider when talking about routers - Reset means to return the router to factory settings - i.e. just like the day you took it out of the box. Reboot means to remove the power and then plug it back in. There is little need to Reset the router unless you really messed something up. Rebooting it, however, will clear up any errors that the router may have had.
To fix your problem, you need to do a few things:
    1) Find out if your router has issued you an IP address. When you appear to be connected, tap Settings > WiFi > and then the blue ">" next to your network name. You are looking to see if the router supplied the touch with an IP address, subnet mask, router IP address, and DNS addresses. Chances are, you are going to see that some things are missing and your touch IP address starts with 169.x.
Next, run through the following 3 step process:
    1. Reboot the router
    2. Reset the touch network settings - tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Connections
    3. When the touch restarts, tap Settings > WiFi > Other and then re-enter your logon information
Check your touch WiFi settings again. If you IP address still starts with 169.x, then you have two things to consider. If you are using WEP, then changing your encryption to WPA2 would be the best router. If you are using anything but WEP, then upgrading your router firmware would be the way to go.
Write back if you continue to have problems.

  • IPod restored, won't go past "Connect to iTunes"

After attempting to update my software yesterday, I was told my iPod needed to be restored. Fine, whatever, it's happened before, it ticked me off but the stuff from my iTunes wasn't deleted so I figured I can just re-upload everything. On the iPod I go through the questions, country, language, etc., when it gets to the page asking if I want to set it up as a new iPod, restore from the Cloud, or restore from iTunes. I pick "restore from iTunes". I plug it in to the computer, and I see that it's loading everything - pictures, apps, etc. Great. When it's all done loading (without the iPod becoming unplugged), however, nothing happens. The iPod doesn't do anything. No new page, no prompt, no home page, nothing. This is made worse by the fact that my home button is broken; before the iPod was restored, I used the on-screen home button to get to the home page. But there's no options page now, because it won't let me get past "Connect to iTunes". Now that everything has been loading, nothing happens when I re-connect the iPod to iTunes. How do I get past this?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it say place in recovery mode use one of these programs instead of the buttons
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    For MAC or PC
      The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I have iphone 4 and have followed all the steps to update and cannot get past "connect to Itunes"

    Hey soozeeC
Use iTunes to update it. Download the latest version and install it. Once it is plugged in, it will ask if you want to update your iPhone to iOS 7. If that does not work then click restore.

  • I'm trying to update my daughter's Ipad2 to the new IOS 8 and it's got stuck on the connect to ITunes display.  We don't have a computer to connect it to and it's never been connected to one.  How do I get past this?

You can try a soft-reset of pressing and holding both the home and sleep buttons for 10 to 15 seconds so that it reboots, but you are likely to get the same screen. If it does then it will need to be connected to a computer's iTunes so that it can be reset back to factory defaults - do you have a friend with a computer with iTunes installed on it, or is there an Apple store nearby that you could try going to (if there is then preferably make a Genius Bar appointment at it, or don't go at a busy time) ?
Has she been backing up to the cloud ? If she has then she should be able to restore to that. If not then what she can redownload for free from the stores will show in the Purchased tabs in the store apps.

After it restores it will walk through a setup.
It will ask you if you want to setup as a new device, from an iCloud backup or from an iTunes backup. Choose iCloud backup and then it will ask you to sign in to your iCloud account. It will restore and reboot. The you will be good.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
