  • How do you move iTunes and songs from old PC to new PC?

I currently have iTunes installed on my work PC with Windows XP Pro. I want to move iTunes and all my songs to my home PC which is running Windows Vista Home Edition. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes to my home PC and need to figure out a way to move all my music from my work PC to my home PC. I tried backing up all my music to 2 CD-RW discs and then drag and drop them into iTunes on my home PC. The music shows up in iTunes but I am not able to play it in iTunes. Any ideas why? Is there a better way to move my music from one PC to another?

Have you seen this article about using your iPod to trnasfer your music:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300173
The same basic method works whatever storage device you use.
As for the CD Problem, do the tracks have excamation marks next to them in iTunes?
If So you may not have iTunes set to "Copy files to the iTunes Music folder when adding to library" checked.
    See Edit>>Preferences>>Advanced.
If this option was not checked, the files stayed on the CDS.

  • I have a Verizon LG Versa cell phone, how do I get my contact list from there to my new iphone 4?

I have a Verizon LG Versa cell phone, how do I get my contact list from there to my new iphone 4?

    Matt,
My new iPhone 4 is on the way from Verizon, and I too am moving on from the LG Versa (a poor man's iPhone) so I've researched this.  I trust you have been using the backup assistant on the LG phone to backup your contacts?  If so, and you investigate the app store you will see an app for doing the same task on you new iPhone.  Initially it will take you LG contacts you have backed up at Verizon to their new home on the iPhone.
According to user comments there appear to be a couple of issues with the app you need to be aware of:
       1.  It will not automatically backup your iPhone, you will need to initiate updates in the future on your own.  and
       2.  You will see in the comments, that there have been some issues with length of backup when you add lots of contact photos to your list.
This coupled with the address book sync from your computer should make your list whole, in fact the move to the iPhone will allow me to consolidate my address book with my cell phone contacts.  Then once I remove the duplicates all will be right with the world.

  • Songs from old Ipod on new Iphone

How can I transfer the Songs from my old Ipod (2004) to my new Iphone????

Are you really using Windows 2000 as the last version of iTunes to work with it is 7.3.
I have no experience with doing this but a quick google of iPhone copy to pc
    produced this link:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/win/136350
This one claims to be both compaticle with Windows 2000, iphone and ipod.
Perhaps you could find others with Google.
If you just want to copy from your iPod to PC, then use iTunes to copy to the iPhone there are many products, see:

  • How do I transfer my Itune songs from old PC to new PC

I am in the process of purchasing a new Desktop with Windows Vista. My songs on my IPOD Classic 120 has been sync on my old computer with Windows XP.
I was told my IPOD 120 will not sync into my new computer. So do I transfer my curent songs on my classic to my new computer?

Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library. There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
To prevent auto sync, connect the iPod whilst holding down the 'control+shift' keys and do not let them go until your iPod appears in iTunes.
If you see a message that your iPod is associated with a different library and asks if you want to link to a new one, make sure you press "Cancel".
If you should click on "Erase and Sync" will erase all the content currently on your iPod and it will be replaced with the content of the iTunes library you just connected to.
When you've pressed cancel your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list under "devices" and allow you to change the update setting to manage the iPod content manually, and that will let you use your iPod for the time being without the risk of accidentally erasing the contents.
Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.

Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola and iDump and iPodRobot.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

I would like to change my laptop's HDD to one with a larger capacity. Is there a way for me to transfer all my current content to the new HDD from the old one without having to re-install all programs/ the OS?

Check this MS page about Windows Backup and Restore Center
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/features/backup.aspx
    There you can find this:
+Windows Complete PC Backup and Restore Available in Windows Vista Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise editions, Windows Complete PC Backup and Restore is a comprehensive, image-based backup tool that will help you out of a tight spot if you need to recover your entire system+.
So I would assume that this is similar to the ghost or another image tools

  • How to download photo and songs from iCloud to laptop (windows 7)

    Hi,
how do I download photos and songs from icloud to Windows 7.I opend control panel and checked box regards photos then I gave apply but I didn't see any photos in my icloud photos location which is present in my  laptop.

There's a long discussion on photo stream issues with PCs here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5356710?start=180&tstart=0 you can look through.  Various solutions are offered that work for some people.  Perhaps you'll find one that works for you.
Also, photo stream photos do not use your iCloud storage at all, so deleting them will not reduce you storage.  If you need to reduce your iCloud storage, there are some suggestion for how to do this here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4847.

How do I get all the songs from an album to show in the album view?  Currently, if an album lists the artist plus a guest artist, those are shown separately and appear to be two different albums on my iPod.  How do I get all the songs on that album together on my iPod?  If the album is a collaboration wtih many artists, each sond may appear as a separate album.

I used to have this problem.
First, you need to go back on iTunes
you need to go to each of the songs that are having this problem
Click the album so all the songs drop down
Right click the songs that have this problem
    Click ' Get info '
Click the tab that says " info '
The box that says ' album artist ' should probably be empty (correct me if I'm wrong)
Click it and type the artist of the entire album, NOT the songs guest artist
    as such,
    ARTIST
    JAY-Z Feat. Justin Timberlake
    ALBUM ARTIST
    JAY-Z
These should be separate for each artist
If you write the same album artists for each song by that artist, all the songs should be on 1 album
