How do I get pictures from my old phone to the iPhone?

I just upgraded to an iPhone from a "dumb phone" and they did not transfer my pics or contacts. Does anyone know how I can do this?

Did you purchase this device and activate it in one of our store locations? If so, I apologize that your contacts and pictures were not transferred to your new device while there. What was the model of your previous (basic phone) device? If you had Backup Assistant on your previous device, you can simply download the Backup Assistant application in the App Store onto your iPhone. Here's a link with instructions: http://vz.to/132Lsm0.
As for your pictures and/or videos, depending on the model device, you may be able to sync this media from your handset to your computer. Best way would be to transfer your photos from your non Apple phone to the computer you normally sync your iPad to. Then organize the photos on your computer and sync them to your iPad.
If there are only a few photos your could email them to yourself.

As long as they are already ticked in your iTunes then yes. Just to check do a sync and as long as everything stays the same you are good to go.

Restore from an iCloud backup
If you have a new iOS device, or if you need to restore your iOS device to resolve an issue, follow these steps.
Follow the initial steps in the iOS Setup Assistant (select your language, and so on).
Select Restore from iCloud Backup when the assistant asks you to set up your iPhone (or other iOS device).
Select the backup you created earlier.
You can restore a backup only by using the iOS Setup Assistant.
If you've already set up your device, you can erase all current content to go through the iOS Setup Assistant again. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Do this only if you already have a backup, because this step will remove all current content from your device.

You need to have them both on the same iCloud ID with photo stream ON both devices. Then when you take a photo with one device it will be sent to photo stream on the other device. Pictures already taken before enabling photo stream will not be transferred.

Are the songs on a computer? Right mouse click on a song and on the summary page it will tell you what AppleID was used to purchase it.
If you are going to carry on using the same computer then just plug in the iPhone and sync the information there. So you will have a copy on your iPhone and maybe different stuff on your ipod.

If you are referring to pictures in the camera roll of the old device, you could always restore the new device from a backup of the old device. If you do not want to do that, then you would have to import the photos from the old device to the computer, and then sync the photos from the computer to the new device.

Add them to a shared stream as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmc0cd7e99. You don't need to invite any subscribers; when asked to enter an email address, just tap Next to skip it (as the owner of the shared stream you are automatically subscribed). Then open the shared stream on your 5s and save the photos to your camera roll by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll. Then you can delete the shared stream.

You need iTunes installed and running on the computer, and yes, you use the same cords for charging and for data transfer.

I upgraded my phone from the Rogue to the Vortex and the reseller said they transferred all my contacts. After I got home I discovered that my pictures were not transferred. How do I get the pictures from my old phone to either my new phone or at least my computer or the Verizon online picture album since it wasn't done beforehand?

Does the Rogue have a micro SD card? The easiest way (IMO) is to move all the pics onto the card. The phone does not need to be activated to do this.
Then insert the card to your computer and copy all the information to the computer. From this point, you can reformat the card for the Vortex and move or copy the pics back so you can use them on the Vortex. If you don't need them all, you can just leave them on the computer.
To send them to the online album, the phone would need to be activated. It does not need to be activated to transfer the pics to an SD card and then to your computer.

if you have a Windows computer you need to have Windows Media Player 11 installed to "see" your S3's directories/folders when you attach it via USB .. this drove me crazy for a week trying to figure out as NO WHERE in the tutorials does it mention you need, at least for Windows XP, to install the latest WindowsMediaPlayer for Windows to recognize an Android phone and see it's files and folders
You'll find your pictures in the Gallery folder as I recall .. you can simply copy or cut them into your computer as if the S3 were another connected computer (which it is )
