How do I get the playlists set by Apple back on my phone? The ones like "25 most played" or "recents"

Double tap the home button and bring up the multi-task bar. Hold down on one the apps until they all start to wiggle and display a minus sign. Tap the minus sign and close all of the apps. Tap the home button and close the multi-task bar. Reset the phone, hold the sleep/wake and home button together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone restarts, see if you see the same behavior. If you do, the next step to restore from a backup. If that doesn't help, then restore as a new device. If you have to go all the way through restore as a new device and it does not work, then it could be a hardware issue. I've not seen any other posts about screen issues after updates, so one of these should fix it unless there is a problem with the screen.

My itunes will not sync any of my music onto my iphone 4s. It also has this huge "other" category that is about 4 gb long. How can I get my music to sync back onto my iPhone?

Hi macmac57. I don't memorize my numbers anymore, so I know how important it is to have all your contacts on your phone at all times. Did an update occur or a new application download when your contacts disappeared? Have you been backing up your device with your computer? How do i get my information and data back onto my 4s?

Let me tell you how it happened and see if you can find an answer: I was going to the computer that i use to put music on to load some music on to my 4s. when i opened itunes, it said "set up as new iphone" or "set up from backup". i chose the "from backup" because i had an old 4s, but the speakers wern't working, so i got a new one, but the last backup to restore it from was from a couple of months back. i chose it, and it synced my iphone, but i hadn't done anything yet. when i checked my iphone, all of my contacts, notes, email accounts were gone. im desperate and how do i get this information back on?

Thanks for replying. I had to do this process in order to get ICloud activated so I don't have it there. I do have an external backup of the Itunes library, but it sounds like that would also restore the restriction password that I don't know.
Why would ICloud be different (if I had backed up there?) Does it only save data?
And It sounds like I need to keep my contacts in another source .... such as? ... No, I don't use email much and my contacts arec the phone numbers I've captured in my phone. After I have them backed up to ICloud, do I also need to make sure they are somewhere else to where I won't run into losing them again?

For no reason at all, I turned my itunes on one day to find that all my purchases are still there but the huge amount of music I've added from CDs is missing. It is still all on my ipod. All playlists are gone too from the library.

AVG is the most likely culprit. They have promised a patch, but you'll still need to repair your library yourself.
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be copied & renamed as iTunes Library.itl to restore the library to an earlier state. Look for a recent .tmp file that is similar in size to the .itl files in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder. If it has happened repeatedly you may want the earliest such file generated since the last iTunes upgrade.
If applicable, see iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
I've noticed more of these missing library posts of late and a common factor to most since I started asking is AVG Anti-Virus. It seems in some cases it might be at least part of the reason why the library file disappears. Whatever AV you use I would recommend excluding the iTunes folder from any real time AV scanning process, however it would seem that AVG isn't currently obeying such exceptions.

Go to settings, mail contacts and calendars, sign in with your apple id, and turn contacts on. That should resolve the problem.

How do i get my music from ipod back onto a pc that i have reset?

My Pc recently had some trouble & i had to do an emergency reinstall of windows. As it was emergency i didnt have the possibility of backing up all files before i did it. When i connect my ipod to the pc it tries to sync & tells me that to sync it has to erase the ipod - *** all of my music is on the ipod & not on the pc i dont want to do that but it means i cant synce my ipod. Its the same PC as itunes was originally set up on but becuase of the restore it seems to think its a different PC so wont let me transfer files back onto the pc from the ipod. Help!!!!

Make sure that autosync is disabled in iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices, set up your account, connect your iPod and right click on it in the device list. Choose "transfer purchases" to copy all bought music from iTunes to your new iTunes library.
If you want to use this computer to sync your device, right lick again in the device list and choose "backup"
This will perform a manual backup without the sync process. Set up at least one contact and event on your computer, to be able to merge data after your device got erased during the first sync.
Use the manual backup to restore your data and settings again.

I just had to get a new hard drive for my mac book pro and I have the old one saved onto a hard drive, how do I get all my saved info back onto the new hard drive?

My hard drive on my mac book pro went so I had to get a new one. I had everything saved onto my external hard drive and I don't know how to resynch it to the new hard drive so my computer will have everything on it that it used to. does anyone know how to do this?

Assuming it isn't purchased content from the iTunes Store, then your only way is to put all the music onto one computer and sync with that.

Lucky you, a dead iPhone and a dead computer! If you were backing up your old computer to an external drive then you might be able to recover your backup file. But if you don't have a backup of your old computer then you're outta luck, iTunes itself does not contain the backup file.
If you have a backup of your old computer's hard drive, your iPhone's backup file would be located at:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Windows Vista or 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
You would then put the iPhone backup file into the same location on the new computer, then restore the iPhone and select this backup.

Default apps are part of the iOS and cannot be deleted. Search all home screens and all folders and/or search for it with Spotlight, that will tell you what folder it's in.
Also check Settings > General > Restrictions to see if it has been restricted.
If not found, Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout.
