I have acrobat as my default setting when opening pdf's but I want it to be preview. How do I go about doing that?

Thanks for sending your suggestion on how to solve my problem. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. I trashed the file, quit and relaunched Safari, but the problem remained the same. Although it did not work, I do appreciate that you took the time to try to help me.

Do you only have the current backup showing in the TM display?? Won't it fill in the rest?

Previous backup may not show for a couple of hours.
Long short of it.. Mavericks version of TM is a pain.
Sometimes it is easier to completely ignore the TM backup and do the restore manually.

How do I get my homepage window to appear when I open FF?
When I go to the dock and click on the FF icon,
''Firefox ''appears in the menu bar but there is no home page window showing. I have to go to ''File'' and select ''New Window'' to get to my home page window.
In FF Preferences I have selected:
"Show my home page" and the correct home page address is shown.
I deleted FF application/program (dragged to trash can) and then re-installed it. That did not help.
I occasionally use Safari and there is no problem with the home page showing right away when I open Safari.

The file you need toi backup is name domain.sites2 and is located in your Users/Home() /Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. Without that file you won't be able to continue to edit and maintain your website.
However, remember this:
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home()/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
So if you're running Lion or Mt Lion you'll need to make that library visible before you can find and backup the domain.sites2 file.

I attempted to open the pdf file and was given the option of which program to use to open it, I mistakenly clicked use always and firefox as the program with which to open pdf files. I do not know how to undo this or what I should do in the future to access the pdf files.

I have Adobe Acrobat Professional 9.0 and will soon be getting V 10.
I want Acrobat to open my .pdf files NOT Reader.
Reader was installed because a certain program required it.

Get wierd screen when opening PDF file in Acrobat/Reader 9.5.2

Here's the screen I now get when trying to open a Captivate-generated PDF in either Acrobat or Reader 9.5.2. Any thoughts?

I created a Captivated PDF file of size ~15 MB (created with Adobe Captivate 5.5) and opened it with Acrobat 9.5.2. I did not see any issue opening this file, all the contents were seen properly. As soon as I launched this PDF, it asked me to install Adobe Flash. Once installed, this PDF file was opened successfully and I could move forward/back within that captivate movie.
You can check if this same issue is present on other machine with Acrobat 9.5.2. If not, then there are chances that this issue is specific to your machine.
Alternatively, as I suggested earlier, try using Reader XI.

My computer has another program that opens PDFs and that seems to be the default on my work computer. The other program doesn't print docs nice and is in my opinion, useless. I would like to switch it to only open PDFs in Adobe but I can't figure out how to do it. Must the other program be uninstalled? Any help is greatly appreciated.

In Acrobat go to Edit - Preferences - General and click the Select Default PDF Handler button and then select Acrobat from the list.

When I do this with Safe Mode, it doesn't crash. I'm guessing I need to some how make it so Quicktime uses more of the RAM, I got 16 Gigs, or use less CPU. Activity Monitor shows 87% CPU usage just before the crash. This is a one month old iMac, while on my old one from 2008 with just 4 GB RAM, it didn't crash.

Thanks to QuickTimeKirk on another post, I got the answer. You use qtl (Quicktime Media LInk) files to point to the real .mov files. Then the qtl file will download when linked to on a web page. After the instant download, Quicktime player will open and grab the stream. Even on a PC! Great!
