How do I get rid of adverts in corners of Safari?

I have tried Adware Removal Tool to run a script, but nothing seems to work.

You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/Application Support/VSearch
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "VSearch" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
/Library/LaunchDaemons/Jack.plist
/Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/Jack
/System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
Restart and empty the Trash. Don't try to empty the Trash until you have restarted.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. It must be said that this failure of oversight is inexcusable and has seriously compromised the value of Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You cannot rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • How can i get rid of ad redirects on my Safari?

How can i get rid of ad redirects on my Safari? Pop up blocks are not working.

    Download and install GlimmerBlocker.
(Presumably you regularly empty your Safari cache by deleting the following file:
    Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/cache.db
    and clear your History)
Adding Open DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up as well as added security, (including anti-phishing and redirects) (Full information about Open DNS is here: http://www.opendns.com/home/nobloat ) and further independent information can be read here:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57338784-263/free-dnscrypt-tool-enhances-ma c-web-security/?tag=mncol;txt
    and here:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1146064/troubleshootdns.html?t=234
Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:

  • How do I get rid of an unwanted webpage in Safari on my iPad3?

Even after I clear history and cookies and data on my iPad the webpage "t.homedepot.com" keeps showing up in the minized screen of Safari. When I touch it to maximize the browser to full screen it disappears and the last page I was browsing reappears. How do I get rid of this so that Safari is showing the true page I was on? Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thank you.

    try a reset:
Hold both the Home button and the Power button down for 10+ seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Let go promptly when the Apple logo appears, and wait another 30 seconds for your iPad to turn itself on.  No data will be lost.
let us know if it works.
there are other things you can try, but this is the simplest and easiest

  • How do I get rid of adverts

HOow do I get rid of adverts

If you are talking about ads in apps - typically you have to buy the full version of the app in order to get rid of the ads.
If you want the app for free - that's the price that you have to pay .... For not having to pay for the price of the app.

  • How do I get rid of Vdix Ads from my safari and firefox?

This type of ads are apearing every were in every site, even though I already erased the app from the app folder, (which I didn't even notice when I downloaded it) That was the only step to follow according to Vidx web page, to get rid of them, but nothing changed. Please help me!

You installed the "VidX" trojan. To remove it, first open the Applications folder by selecting
    Go ▹ Applications
from the Finder menu bar, or by pressing the key combination shift-command-A. Look for an item named "VidX" or similar. If present, drag it to the Trash and empty.
From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extension with "VidX" or similar in the name. If in doubt, remove all extensions you don't know you need. You may well have more than one that's adware or spyware.

  • How can I get rid of adverts which are blocking all apps, even apple ones?

My grandmother is a fan of Words With Friends but recently an extremely intrusive BMW advert has appeared which cannot be closed and which takes up most of the screen. It has also started appearing in other apps when it shouldn't, including apple's own App Store. We have tried clearing the multitasking tray and have re-started it multiple times to no avail. We even deleted the offending app and yet the advert still remains on the App store.
Since I can only communicate via phone, I can't determine which iOS version she is using as she cannot understand my instructions on how to find it. However, I am confident it is NOT iOS 7.
Is there any way to solve this problem? Ideally, it needs to be easy enough to explain to someone who is not particularly "technologically gifted".

Contact Zynga games at http://investor.zynga.com/contactus.cfm. No pop up add should not have an exit option, but this one is the exception. Alternatively, pay for the app (it's not expensive). The only other way is to reset your device, which is frustrating but the only way I have found to terminate the BMW ad. sorry I can't be more help.

  • How do I get rid of the spinning wheel in Safari?

In Safari, I get a spinning wheel more and more often.  It really slows things down.  How do I adjust my settings to get stop this problem?

    Back up all data.
Quit Safari if it’s running. Then select  ▹ Force Quit... from the menu bar. A small window will open with a list of running applications. Safari may appear in that list, even though you quit it. If so, select it and press return. Close the window.
    Step 1
In the Finder, press the key combination shift-command-A to open the Applications folder. Select the Safari icon in that folder and press the key combination command-I to open the Info window. There’s a checkbox in the Info window labeled Open in 32-bit mode. Uncheck it, if checked. Close the Info window and the Applications folder.
If Adobe Flash Player is installed, select  ▹ System Preferences ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
Hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar. Delete the following items from the Library folder (some may not exist):
    Caches/com.apple.Safari
    Caches/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess
    Caches/Metadata/Safari
    Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginHost.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess.plist
    Saved Application State/com.apple.Safari.savedState
Leave the Library folder open. Try Safari again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder.
    Step 2
If you still have problems, quit Safari again.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    rm -fr $TMPDIR../C/com.apple.Safari
Quit Terminal. Launch Safari and test.
    Step 3
If Safari still doesn’t work right, quit, go back to the Finder and move the following items from the open Library folder to the Desktop (some may not exist):
    Cookies/Cookies.binarycookies
    Internet Plug-Ins
    Preferences/com.apple.Safari.LSSharedFileList.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.Safari.RSS.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.WebFoundation.plist
    PubSub/Database
    Safari
(Note: you are not moving the Safari application. You’re moving a folder named “Safari.”)
Try again. This time Safari should perform normally, but your settings and bookmarks will be lost.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Safari again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were, overwriting the newer ones that may have been created in their place. You don’t need to replace the files you deleted in step 1. Stop here and post again.
If Safari is now working normally (apart from the lost settings), look inside the “Safari” folder on the Desktop for a file named “Bookmarks.plist”. Select File ▹ Import Bookmarks from the Safari menu bar. Import from that file. Recreate the rest of your Safari settings. You can then delete the items you moved to the Desktop.
Note: This step will remove your Safari Extensions, if any, and their settings. If you choose to restore them, do so one at a time, testing after each step to make sure you haven’t restored the problem.
If you don’t like the results of step 3, you can undo it completely by quitting Safari and restoring the items you moved or deleted in that step from your backup, overwriting any that were created in their place.
