I accidently acquired a malware program BrowserDefender.exe when I downloaded Firefox from the Internet onto my new laptop. All other software loaded by me has been from legal discs, used successfully on our Desktop. My anti-virus software is displaying annoying pop-up messages. I am unable to delete the folders because "one of the files is in use by another program". My ISP tech support people had the same problem.
the beast resides on my laptop in c:\Programdata\BrowserDefender\

Click the icon for the file. Do cmd-I from the keyboard or pull down the finder's File menu to select "Get Info" or right-click on the icon to get a menu to select "Get Info" and then uncheck the "Locked" box and see if you can trash the file.

hello newtom, i don't know where you've downloaded it from, but original mozilla builds form mozilla.org will never come with such crap or bundled software.

Heheh, it's Mozilla being cheerfully quirky on the Firefox page (you are talking about the Mozilla Firefox Start Page or "about:home", right?).
If so, Mozilla will be changing it with another image in the future; I don't know when, though. For now, you have a few options:
* Set Google/Bing/etc. as your homepage so that you won't see the Start Page when Firefox launches.
* Use the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stylish/?src=userprofile Stylish] extension to remove the image.

What kind of duplicates? Did you import the same image file several times? Aperture does not have any built-in tools to detect duplicates. You will have to do delete the one by one. You could arrange the images by date, so that duplicates are shown side by side in the Browser. Or use a tool like Duplicate Annihilator (the program is not free). I have never tested it but some do recommend it.

If the mail app is frozen and you can't do anything in it, close it from the recents tray and reboot the iPad.
From your home screen, double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the mail app icon. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

please go to ''firefox > addons > extensions'' & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc).
 also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there.

Hi Matt, I'm not really clear on what happened to your Firefox. You have an unwanted toolbar in Firefox?
Usually a new toolbar is created and maintained by an extension (a kind of add-on). Please visit the Add-ons page and review the extensions. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if you do not recognize an extension click Disable, and if you want it gone, click Remove. If in doubt, disable.

Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

There is no simple easy way.. apple do not put a firewall into the airport.
You can change the password for wireless and change the admin password of the airport extreme..
Give out the change of password to no-one.
If a client needs to join your network check its name.. then you type the password in.
If virus.exe turns up again.. you have a computer or device where someone is having a bit of fun.. and making the name something to aggravate you.
I doubt it is really a virus.. as you have already got all the names when you signed in the client.. but track down its MAC address so you know what belongs to what. And can take measures to prevent the issue arising again.

How can I get rid of a redirect browser hacker in firefox?

This is a problem that is occuring on my MacBook Pro. When a google search is performed results appear as normal but when I click on a link it starts to load the page but then is interrupted and redirects to another completely different website which is completely unrelated to what I clicked on. They don't seem to be spam websites, just completely random. Sometimes it just redirects to askjeeves.com. Sometimes it doesn't redirect and I have normal use for a few minutes, then it redirects. The problem first started with a re-direction to a pretend PC virus scanner that mimicked the my computer folder on a PC and pretended to scan it for viruses and sell me some virus software. I ignored it as it was obviously a scam and blocked this website using a firefox add-on. This one no longer appears but I'm still getting redirected. I have thought of blocking information-seeker.com but figure this would just be treating the symptom and not the cause.
The only thing that is the same each time is that when it first begins the redirection, in the address bar a very long address with information-seeker.com appears for a split second before it loads the website it's sent me to this time.
I have tried the following so far
1. I have run MacScan and found nothing
2. I have checked the DNS information and no trojan is present
3. I've been into about:config in firefox and there is nothing to do with information-seeker.com in there
4. I've cleared all cookies and cache in firefox
Has anybody else come across this problem on a mac? I've found lots of websites with similar problems on PCs or problems where the search engine is hijacked but nothing with the information-seeker website. This is driving me up the wall and I'd be grateful for any help!
