How Do I Get Rid Of Disk Partitions/Images?

Hey folks,
When I bought my iMac flat panel from a friend, he partitioned the hard drive into 3 'disks' or disk images. The problem I'm having, is that I would like to get rid of one of them and use that storage for the main disk; the disk with the startup info. on it.
How in the heck do I do this? I've located about 134, 765 articles on how to CREATE partitions, but none on how how to get rid of them, or combine them into others.

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
If you use only Apple's software then the only way is to Erase the drive with Disk Utility and set one partition only.
Clearly this will erase all data on the drive.
There are some 3rd party utilities that allow partitions to be removed/created without erasing the drive.
Given the nature of what you are doing here; I'd recommend fully backing up all your data before doing anything of this nature.

After checking that option I still have "Disk Password" display as a user to login with in addition to my regular user name. The safest thing would be to deactivate FileVault and then reactivate it.

i tried to delete bootcamp from my computer and it took out windows but still left the partition on the hard drive and now there are two partitions on the drive and it does not mount and it has 35 gigs of room tied up on it and i want to install parelles 7 on it and it keeps tring to load it up on the bootcamp that does not mount.i tried to delete the partition in disk utilies it keeps on failing Howcan i get it bach without reformatting the whole computer.i am running 10.8 on an imac 2.4 with 4 gigs of ram

You lack the knowledge needed to do this, example; You want to use the 35G partition for Parallels, but Parallels does not use a partition, so that won't work.
Backup the entire drive, Delete the entire drive and start again. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS THIS TIME

Downgraded to 3.6 and now there is a "background" image to the sides on websites that showed up in 4 and now is still there. How do I get rid of the side image and get the site to look like it once did??

Often sites display the site in the middle with filler to the side. Now there is an image there that doesnt show up on Opera but now it does on firefox

I did safe mode as you suggested and things were set to the default theme.
It still didn't display like it did before I "upgraded".
Let me ask this another way. Looking at this very site, the whole website is displayed in the center of the screen and the sides are blank. Meaning that there is a bunch of wasted space. How do I configure firefox so it fills the screen?? If I could see just the middle portion that is how it used to display things.
Here is what I mean:

I just want to see:
[W E B S I T E]
And only that filling the screen.

How do I get rid of the images taking up half the screen?

Just got a Classic 160 and I love it EXCEPT for the fact that half the screen is taken up by a useless image. I want to use the full width of the screen for the title/artist, etc., So if I'm listening to a song from "The Skiffle Sessions: Live in Belfast" with Van Morrison, Lonnie Donegan, and Chris Barber, I get the full information instead of "Van Morrison, Lonnie ..." and "The Skiffle Sessions: L ..."

I THINK it doesn't work. When you connected your iPod, click on the iPod in iTunes, click the music tab. there you got a list of playlists (most likely grayed out) and below there there should be something like "include music videos" (or something similiar. i'm not using the english version of iTunes, so the text could differ slightly. and right below that there should be an option "show covers on ipod" (again, the text could differ. but the meaning should be the same.) uncheck that and save it. if this option doesn't show: do you have the newest iTunes version?

i recently bought a powrmac g4 off ebay with a 933 Mhz processor, 1.25 GB RAM and a 120 gig HD that was partitioned into 2 drives (by, i assume, the previous owner) with one of them running the OS. I just installed a new shiney Maxtor 200 gig HD and wanted to get rid of the partition in the 1st HD but still boot from it. The problem is that the OS already on the drive is newer than the one that I have the disk for, so if I erase it (the drive) then re-install the OS with the disk I have, it will be out of date. The other problem is that I'm not sure of the risks involved in this operation; there are some applications on the 1st HD that I don't have the disks for (as they came with the computer) that are valuable and I don't want to lose.
So...
How do I safely get rid of the partition on the 12o GB hard drive?

Use the Restore function of Disk Utility or CarbonCopyCloner to copy all the files from the 120GB HD to the new HD. Then boot to the new HD & use Disk Utility to erase & format the 120GB HD to one partition. (Make sure the new HD & files are working properly before you erase the old HD.)
You may be able to use only 128GB on the 200GB HD. Look at these links.

There is a question mark on my hard drive disk, how do I get rid of it. I recently went to the genius bar in Albuquerque, NM and they restarted it and did a partition on it and what I needed was fixed but I still have a question mark on my start up disk.

There is no startup system on it. Or, you need to open Startup Disk preferences and select a startup disk. Or your startup disk lacks a name such as "Macintosh HD," for example.

How do I get rid of the Windows partition? I went to the disk utility and selected my hard drive but all the partition options are grayed out. Similarly, when I select the NTFS partition, I cannot erase it.
I want to merge the partitions, create one single partition. I do not care if all the information is lost, only that my hard drive is unified and clean again. How do I do this?

have you looked inside your Applications/Utilities Folder for an app named 'BootCamp Assistant' ?
If there, consider yourself lucky
Don't run it yet, since it won't work with your current date and time.
Follow the instructions here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1309?viewlocale=en_US to completely remove the BootCamp Windows partition and reassign the used diskspace back to OSX.
If you don't find the BootCamp Assistant in the Utilities folder, you have to boot from your OSX Tiger DVD to repartition your harddisk to one OSX volume and then reinstall Tiger and/or restore your OSX from a backup.

Repairing permissions will help as will running the UNIX commands. This widget will do all but the pram.

I do have a 'Manage Space" link and a Turn on schedule link and change settings link along with Restore options with 3 options-' restore all user files- select another backup to restore files from and recover system settings on your computer. If I click on 'Manage Space link', it gives me the option to 'Select how disk space is used by Windows back up'- then there are two options: 'data file backup'-which indicates i can free up space by deleting file backups, and the other option is 'system image' which is greyed out. Upon clicking on the option (view backups) under 'data file backup option'- it shows the current data file backups on my hp_tools (e the date of the file is displayed and the amount of usage- it gives me the option to delete- should I click the delete button?

Drag it to the trash icon in your dock. This is a disk image, and you need to "eject" it, to get rid of it.
