Reading some older threads from 2012 and 2011 it appears the problem was present even then. Part of the problem was due to people using multiple or different account id's on the various devices. In my case, I only have one ID and it is the same on all devices yet the iPhone and iPad are still throwing the same error when I try turning on iTunes Match. Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes does not create duplicates.
Only the user importing content multiple times creates duplicates.
Delete the duplicates and stop importing the same content multiple times.

LIVEWIRE...how to I get rid of it from itunes???

My friend downloaded Livewire to my PC and it is now a folder in my iTunes sidebar. When I am trying to build new playlists etc they are added as a subfolder under my iPod but when I am trying to download songs to my nano it is only giving me the option to pick playlists that are a subfolder of the Livewire folder. So when I try to update ipod uding the "only checked playlists" option, the options given are subfolders of the Livewire folder and not the playsists I am making that fall under the iPod folder. I tried to remove Livewire from my computer via add/remove fies but is is still in my iTunes. How do I get rid of this??

It depends upon what you didn't like. Many of the changes were deliberate, even if we don't like them.

Back up your computer first, in case the unexpected happens.
Quit iTunes.

Do a few preparatory steps by making sure all iTunes components are not running and cleaning old files.   See https://discussions.apple.com/message/20475394. Do steps 3 and 4. Steps 6-8 may be also useful but I don't know if they are essential. Some of the other steps are not necessary, duplicate steps listed later in my post or are perhaps even unhelpful in the process.
Replace the iTunes 11 application with iTunes 10.7. Simply dragging the application to the trash may not work. Lion (OSX 10.7) and newer systems have iTunes integrated into the operating system and deleting is a bit more involved. Two ways to do this are:
1. Use the shareware Pacifist utility (http://www.charlessoft.com/) to install iTunes 10.7 including all associated system files. Details at http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=16400819&postcount=6
2. Check this reference on how to delete the iTunes application itself:

    After deleting the application there may be other files that need downgrading too. See the note about error -42408 at the end of this post. This may include these files in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ which apparently get updated by iTunes 11:

After doing one of the two procedures above you will have to rescue the most recent old iTunes library from your iTunes > Previous Libraries folder. A newer version of iTunes irreversibly updates your library file so you have to replace it with the old one or you will get an error message. Note, this will revert your library to the version at the time of the upgrade and you will have to update any changes made since. See:

How do I get rid of iCloud on my Windows computer?

So I downloaded the new version of iTunes onto my Windows P.C. After about a month of use, some crappy thing called iCloud mysteriously entered my computer. I did not download it, nor did any of my family. It was not there one day and the next it was. iCloud stole all of my iTunes music, deleted the stuff not from the iTunes Store and then decided it would engrain itself into my computer so now I can't get rid of it. I already looked at programs and it is not in there so I can't delete it from my computer. I went to the iCloud website and looked around there and I couldn't even find my music there, let alone delete the dang thing. iCloud also deletes the music I manually download from CD's; I download the music, it is in iTunes, then I exit iTunes and get back in and that music is gone. This is very, very frustrating and strange. Anybody got any answers?

Gotcha..on a few things. I get that it has to be downloaded (you would think). I didnt download it, but I did so click on the newer version of the itunes. I did have all my music backed up..and put it back rightly so where it belonged in itunes, when I reset. I went to iCloud and checked to see if I could actually sign in..nothing. What the? I do have an apple id account,(dont know if that matters), so Im assuming that I dont have an account with iCloud, yet there was this little cloud in front of all my music. Just within the last couple of weeks. When I tryed to play a song, it would say downloading from store. When I plugged in my ipod to sync, it would ask me to reset. Along with my son's ipod. GRRR. I would have to click on any and every single one I wanted, to get it on to the ipod. Imported cd's disappeared completely when I logged out, along with any playlist I made..just like what happed with our friend JG14. Very confusing ****. I agree with you, that it has to be some sort of download or sign in or something, but this really had me stumped too. I admit that things pop up, you might accidently click n them, with Itunes or whatever one gets for their device, but this was unreal. In my research, Ive discovered that there are quite a few complaints for this iCloud business, if your not connected to internet, you cant play your stuff. I know you dont have to pay again, but thats still a pain. Its easy to disable on a phone (apparantly). But really Csound1, to disable iCloud and risk losing what you ALREADY had?.. I inadverdantly installed the latest IOS 7 on my wife's ipad from work. She was asked not to install it because of concerns with icloud.

Just delete the account from the device in "Settings > iCloud" and if you miss something and need anything back, then you could still add the account back on again.

You don't need to delete the old library, but it will take a little effort to transfer the allegiance of the device to your new one.
You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

How do I get rid of error message, "iTunes could not back up the iPad because an error occurred."

During a recent syncing of my iPad and iTunes, I cancelled a sync during the backup step of the process. Since then I whenever I sync the ipad I know get, "iTunes could not back up the iPad because an error occurred."
I have reset my iPad and turned off the MacBook, still the message occurs.
Can someone offer some advice on how to get rid of this error message?

You can try deleting your backup. Launch Itunes on your Mac and go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices. Highlight the name of the iPad backup and select delete. Quit iTunes, restart your Mac and try to sync again.
