How do I get rid of Norton Internet Security? Migration assistant problem

I have a new MacBook Pro and I used a firewire connection and migration assistant to transfer files. Unfortunately, the assistant transferred all my applications, even the ones I didn't want, like Norton Internet Security, which slowed down my old G4. I deleted all the Norton files, but there are still icons for Norton Auto protect and Norton Quick Menu on my System Preferences menu. I'm afraid they are responsible for the messages I get on booting up saying the system detects Norton but can't open the application. I'm also afraid its the reason that suddenly my new superfast MacPro is less fast. I can't figure out how to delete it from the system preferences - any ideas?

Please let me reassure you. There are NO viruses effecting OSX to date. There was one virus effected OS9 ten years ago, but nothing since. The fear of viruses is a residual effect from using that other OS, which shall remain nameless, but not shameless. The only danger a Mac user faces is, spreading a virus through a network by forwarding junk emails with an infected attachment, not that anybody is that stupid, or are they? If you are using one of the main email providers, Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail, etc, all he attachments are scanned automatically as these organizations cannot afford to have viruses in their systems.
In a nutshell: Relax and enjoy the freedom of using a Mac.
Furthermore: Most ex-users of the nameless OS feel the need to run defrag programs on Macs. Unnecessary! Just leave your Mac turned on overnight and it will do it itself.
You may remember the Mac slogan, 'Think Differently'. Well, Macs do!

How do I get rid of Norton Icons in my system preferences?

I'm having problems getting rid of Norton on my new MacBook Pro. I foolishly transferred applications from my old G4 with Migration assistant and it transferred my old Norton Internet Security which dates from 2003-2004. I deleted everything I could find, but my computer is still running slow and I get messages when I boot up that the various Norton programs can't open and I should reintall them. The Symantec uninstaller tool can't find any Norton applications on my computer and when I search the hard drive for Norton or Symantec I find nothing. Still, there are two icons on my System Preferences panel, and I'm wondering if I manage to remove these, it will get rid of the last wisps of Norton. Any ideas?

Since it is a new machine, if I were you, I would do a full "Erase and Install" and start over.
BTW, you should really be in a 10.5 or MacBook Pro forum.

How do I get rid of an internet service provider (Cisco) that I never wanted but Cisco keeps me from getting online with my own internet service provider?

I have tried to get rid of an internet service provider named "Cisco" that keeps blocking me from getting on the internet. I have no idea how "Cisco" is doing this. I have only one internet service provider that is Not "Cisco" . "Cisco" keeps coming up on the screen to sign in with a password which of course I do not know and do not want. I went into Safari preference to change the settings and found 2 that I do not want. I thought I had gotten rid of this "link sys" but keeps returning and shows that it is locked. How do I get rid of these in my Safari preferences without a password to them. I only want the one internet service provider that I have to be there and not the other two. Thank you so much.

That is the login into the router itself. Most routers, in order to set them up the first time or after a reset or power fail, have this login procedure. You connect to the router login and configure the settings for your use.
Is this a new router or has it been recently reset in some way? As was written above if the router was provided by your isp then contact them for the setup procedures.
If the router is yours (or someone else's in your household) you need to look at the manual that came with it or go to manufactures website for instructions on how to set it up.

I have inadvertedly accepted an update with ASK CONNECTED. i GOT RID OF aSK BUT IT REMAINS IN A nORTON TOOLBAR TAHT i CAN'T GET RID OF.

I deleted the 4oD app from my iPad but it still appears in the list in Settings. How do I get rid of that? It is causing problems when they issue updates as it apparently thinks I still have it when I don't.

Can any one help me get rid of a deleted app 4oD that still appears in the Settings list. I deleted it from the home screen and Spotlight search confirms it has gone. It is causing problems because I get notified of updates and I cannot get rid of them either. I have tried re-downloading via my MacBook because there isn't a download option from the iPad (App Store clearly think I still have it when I don't) then deleting again but the listing in Settings remains.
It is really irritating me.

Have you tried deleting the App within the Settings menu (rather than from the Home Screen)?
Settings>General>Usage>
From the Apps list, find the App (press "Show all Apps" if the app is not in the immediately shown list), tap on the app you wish to delete, then tap "Delete App"

Usually you will need to contact iTunes store support but this workaround may help:
-On the device/computer that is asking you for the security questions go to "settings", > "store" > tap the Apple ID and choose view"Apple ID" and sign in.
- Tap on payment information and add a credit/debit card of your preference then select "done", in the upper right corner
- Sign out and back into iTunes on the device by going to "settings"> "store" > tap the Apple ID and choose "sign-out" > Tap "sign -in" > "use existing Apple ID" and you should be asked to verify your security code for the credit/debit card and NOT the security questions.
- At this time you can remove the card by going back in to edit the payment info and selecting "none" as the card type then saving the changes by selecting "done". You should now be able to use your iTunes store credit without answering the security questions.

How do I get rid of iDisk - it's creating HUGE problems

Somehow iDisk ended up on my computer. It has never been used, but it is now creating a HUGE problem for me and I'd like to remove it completely from my system.
A message box is coming up saying:
WebDAV File System Authentication

This message box comes up all the time, twice and I can't continue in my current program until I hit the cancel button. The same message box comes up immediately after I cancel the first. It will then rear it's ugly head about 5 minutes later.
My Safari keeps crashing now as well...HELPPPPP.

There were some reports of success with those steps in earlier threads, including one report that first running Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions made a difference . It might be worth doing that and restarting, and then trying again.

I keep getting a js/phish virus detdection on my compute how can I get rid of it?

My new windows8 computer came with norton 360 but I did not think it would get rid of virus' for me so I got AVG and now about once a day AVG tells me that I have a Js/phish virus and it says its from norton how do I get rid of norton to stop getting this virus?

It is probably not a good idea to have two sets of anti Virus program. (I am assuming Norton includes AV).
You probably need to check with Norton about removal of software. Security software is not always straight-forward to remove, otherwise it could be ineffective.

You probably have some kind of adware installed, assuming that your Mac is not actually running OS 9 or earlier (systems that date back to the 90s). I have a Nokia 2630 and just applied a free-to-try option that gives 30 days free internet for the mobile phone. The bad thing is that I can't open some pages on the net.... It gives me a restriction that says the page was restricted because my profile is a minor profile. Though, I'm not able to get my profile to be adult because I need to be 18 years old, and I'm 16... This is not about porn sites restriction in any way....... It doesn't even allow me to open Facebook.com (or other popular websites)! And some more sites that I used to visit...... Now I got rid of this. How? I use Opera Mini now. Everytime I use it to open a page that was actually restricted for Nokia's browser it works! But there's one more thing, and that is that I can't download anything from the restricted sites because whenever I click download Opera Mini closes and then the nokia's integrated browser opens in order to download anything...
How do I get rid of this? Is there any trick/hack that can get over these restrictions?

You need to contact your network operator. It is them that are imposing the restrictions, not the phone or web browser. Because of the different was that opera works it can get around some restrictions.
The opera browser on that phone doesn't support downloading, thats why it opens them using the default browser.
