How do I get rid of popups like Mackeeper?

I just got a new Mac Book Pro (Yosemite) with retina and its been working great; however, in the past week I have been getting a ton of popups and new tabs opening while I am using the Internet. The problem is in BOTH Safari and Chrome and it is starting to get really annoying. I have adblocker in chrome and it works great with ads and such and I have the popup blocker turned on in both browsers, but they still appear. Is there a way to stop all of these popups? And I'd prefer a pretty permanent solution so that I don't have to fix it every week. Thanks in advance!

1. Use free AdwareMedic by clicking “Download ” from here

     Install , open, and run it by clicking “Scan for Adware” button   to remove adware.
     Once done, quit AdwareMedic by clicking AdwareMedic in the menu bar and selecting
    “Quit AdwareMedic”.
2. Safari > Preferences > Extensions
    Turn those off and relaunch Safari.
    Turn those on one by one and test.

How do i get rid of popups?

I am having MacKeeper popup on my browser every time a new tab opens practically. Tune Up my Mac is also coming up occasionally as well as something called Mac Booster (I think?). I have notifications saying "congratulations you're a winner" and other spam of that sort and I have already moved all of the extensions on my google chrome setting and I am just not sure how to stop these but they are actually driving me insane. I'm not all techy so step by step "for dummies" would be most helpful.

You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
          Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.vsearch.agent.plist" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist

Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
          Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

I understand that having a preset text that you did not want can be a bit frustrating when sending out text. To clarify, is the preset message like a signature at the end of your text? Does this only happen in text messages or when your send emails also? Is your SMS delivery confirmation on? Messaging>Settings>SMS delivery confirmation.

How do I get rid of annoying popups

My husband uses the IPad to read and play card games. How do we get rid of those annoying pop up ads while he's playing cards. Specifically Hearts and Solitaire. Pop ups will appear when dealing another hand. Sometimes the entire screen goes black except for one tiny little x that we have to click numerous times before the fame comes back. he really gets frustrated and i cant help him. Any suggestions?

I don't play hearts, but I do play Solebon Solitaire. I play the iPhone version on my iPad, but I see that they have a pro version for the iPad.

For Hearts, I'd look at reviews and ratings. That often gives you an indication if the app is any good or not.

That icon indicates your iPhone is rotation locked.
To remove it, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open Control Center. Tap the similar looking icon there to turn it off.

There are alternatives. But none of them have Google street view, able to work on iOS 6. Apple should have offered this as a beta version, for a few more months instead of inflicting us with an inferior product. This iPad will probably be my last Apple product. A shame, because until last a few days ago, I thought the iPad and iPhone were fantastic.
Apple should quit their petty squabbling with, Google and Samsung and concentrate on supplying the best product.

I do have a 'Manage Space" link and a Turn on schedule link and change settings link along with Restore options with 3 options-' restore all user files- select another backup to restore files from and recover system settings on your computer. If I click on 'Manage Space link', it gives me the option to 'Select how disk space is used by Windows back up'- then there are two options: 'data file backup'-which indicates i can free up space by deleting file backups, and the other option is 'system image' which is greyed out. Upon clicking on the option (view backups) under 'data file backup option'- it shows the current data file backups on my hp_tools (e the date of the file is displayed and the amount of usage- it gives me the option to delete- should I click the delete button?

That sounds like the difference between the new Firefox home page '''about:home''' and the previous Google Search page which has '''GMail''' at the top if you used GMail.

preference->account->click the account in question-Click advanced and set "remove copy from server after retreiving a message to what you wish it to be
