How do I get rid of safari 6 update!? It's awful!!!

I downloaded safari 6 and it changed how I can deal with opening links and going back---and changed how I search for google etc. I find it very, very "unuseful" and want to download and go back to the verion before....how do I do that?

Attempts to rebuild thumbnails did not work. How do I get rid of message "Updating thumbnails" every time I open iPhoto?

After repairing and rebuilding the iPhoto libary/database, I attempted to rebuild the thumbnails on an older Mac Book (10.7.5) and iPhoto 9.0. I believe there was not enough disk space for this function. Now when I open iPhoto, I get the message "Updating thumbnails." you need a minimum of 10GB of free space just for normal os - with little or none y0u risk damaging yoru iPhoto database and other important system components - you must make space immediately
Exporting photos is not the solution - unless you can delete some large files that are not needed The fastest way is to purchase an external hard drive formatted Mac OS extended and move your iPhtoo library to it -
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive
I would not put my iphoto library on a flash drive - and usually they are not formated correctly wso will nto even work

Templates: how do I get rid of orphaned updates?

I've made changes to my template, and then undone those changes. However, the change still shows up in the child pages, greyed out, so I can't delete it. This has to do with changes made outside <html> where I got the warning message:

How do I get rid of the bold material in the child pages? BTW, I have more than one instance of this happening, so my pages are cluttered.
I deleted the line  from my template and updated, but the bold text above still shows up in all the child pages.
BTW, any new page I create from this template also has the bolded text in it, even though it's no longer in the template.

What you really need to do is wipe the drive completely by repartitioning it as one partition and then reinstall the original version of OS X that came on that Mac when it was shipped from the factory. Otherwise that system will always be tied to the original owner.
How you do that depends on what version of OS X originally came on it when it was new. If Lion or Mountain Lion you use the online Internet recovery system. If it originally came with Snow Leopard then you should of gotten the original system discs that came with every Mac prior to Lion coming out. If you don't have those system discs you can order a replacement set from apple for a small fee.

Try to use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).
Current Firefox versions use the default search engine (pref: browser.search.defaultenginename) to set the search engine that is used on the about:home page.
Check the browser.search.defaultenginename pref on the about:config page and make sure that it is set to the default value Google.

It will start dropping the earlier updates after about two weeks (first in first out)

Simply stop using Safari and set your default browser to be Firefox.
I strongly advise you to NOT delete it as subsequent updates (e.g. 10.5.7 assuming Apple release that) will still try and update Safari regardless of whether you removed it or not.
There's no problem with having more than one browser present on your system (I think I have about 6 )

Firefox cannot get to the web because the MS update conflicts with my default browser FF. I tried a system restore point before the explorer 9 update, but it didn't clear the MS update troubleshooter with the FF logo and I can not get to my browser directly.

I can't help you with that software in particular but I suggest you to try Xpadder, I also have the microsoft xbox 360 gamepad and it works as far as I know

I want to use Chrome, but when I click on a link Safari opens - even after I disabled it. Can I uninstall Safari? This is so annoying.

You can't delete Safari, all you can do is hide it via Settings > General > Restrictions > Safari 'off' - but you can't configure links in, for example emails in the Mail app, to use a different browser (they will just not work if you hide Safari)
