How do I get rid of the spinning wheel in Safari?

In Safari, I get a spinning wheel more and more often.  It really slows things down.  How do I adjust my settings to get stop this problem?

Read this whole message before doing anything.
Back up all data.
Quit Safari if it’s running. Then select  ▹ Force Quit... from the menu bar. A small window will open with a list of running applications. Safari may appear in that list, even though you quit it. If so, select it and press return. Close the window.
Step 1
In the Finder, press the key combination shift-command-A to open the Applications folder. Select the Safari icon in that folder and press the key combination command-I to open the Info window. There’s a checkbox in the Info window labeled Open in 32-bit mode. Uncheck it, if checked. Close the Info window and the Applications folder.
If Adobe Flash Player is installed, select  ▹ System Preferences ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
Hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar. Delete the following items from the Library folder (some may not exist):
Caches/com.apple.Safari
Caches/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess
Caches/Metadata/Safari
Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginHost.plist
Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess.plist
Saved Application State/com.apple.Safari.savedState
Leave the Library folder open. Try Safari again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder.
Step 2
If you still have problems, quit Safari again.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
rm -fr $TMPDIR../C/com.apple.Safari
Quit Terminal. Launch Safari and test.
Step 3
If Safari still doesn’t work right, quit, go back to the Finder and move the following items from the open Library folder to the Desktop (some may not exist):
Cookies/Cookies.binarycookies
Internet Plug-Ins
Preferences/com.apple.Safari.LSSharedFileList.plist
Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Preferences/com.apple.Safari.RSS.plist
Preferences/com.apple.WebFoundation.plist
PubSub/Database
Safari
(Note: you are not moving the Safari application. You’re moving a folder named “Safari.”)
Try again. This time Safari should perform normally, but your settings and bookmarks will be lost.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Safari again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were, overwriting the newer ones that may have been created in their place. You don’t need to replace the files you deleted in step 1. Stop here and post again.
If Safari is now working normally (apart from the lost settings), look inside the “Safari” folder on the Desktop for a file named “Bookmarks.plist”. Select File ▹ Import Bookmarks from the Safari menu bar. Import from that file. Recreate the rest of your Safari settings. You can then delete the items you moved to the Desktop.
Note: This step will remove your Safari Extensions, if any, and their settings. If you choose to restore them, do so one at a time, testing after each step to make sure you haven’t restored the problem.
If you don’t like the results of step 3, you can undo it completely by quitting Safari and restoring the items you moved or deleted in that step from your backup, overwriting any that were created in their place.

How do I get rid of the spinning beach ball?  It's quite annoying.  Please help.

You want this moved to OS X forum? to MBP? An FAQ on system repair and maintenance?
Try booting form OS X DVD and go to Utility: Disk Utilty and Repair Disk Drive - for starters.
    Unplug everything.
Reboot holding Shiftkey - called Safe Boot, might want to look that up.
Add more RAM, free up disk space. Delete temp and cache files (I don't recommend using a "cache cleaning utility" though Onyx has been around for years).

  • How do I get rid of the spinning wheel in Mail?

I am using OS X 10.8.4 and the dreaded spinning wheel keeps appearing everytime I try to do ANYTHING, including type a word or two in a new email or read an existing email.

As far as the previous situation, of my lost mail and folder, etc., I was told that if I didn't have a backup from before I did the upgrade to OS X 10.8.4, there was nothing more that could be done.  I left the discussion because "there was nothing that could be done."
After that, at the recommendation of one of these dedicated volunteers, I connected my external hard drive and now I guess Time Machine is doing periodic updates.
On this situation, the headache of the SBBOD is with Mail.  But...since I typed that question, yesterday, I am finding that I have a similar problem with iPhoto.  It is very slow to go from one step to another, with the appearance of the SBBOD.
The ANYTHING I was referring to was anything I try to do in Mail.  It's click on something, wait for the spinning to stop.  Type a couple of letters or words and wait for the spinning to stop.  I tried this with Safari closed and it was still a problem.
All of this started yesterday.  It wasn't a problem before that.
I did look at old posts of the same problem and tried a couple of solutions, one being move the "Mail" folder out of the Library after doing the Go, Go to folder, etc. and that didn't work.

    .

Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • How do I get rid of the spinning colour wheel when connecting my iphone or ipad to my mac and starting itunes?

When I connect my iphone 4 or ipad 3 and start itunes, it freezes and the arrow turns to a spinning colour wheel.  Was jailbroken in the past but have updated to latest ios and itunes.  Used to be able to sync my devices on my mac, but now it just freezes.  I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes.  Still the same thing.
Any suggestions?  Also noticed that the old apps on my iphone from the previous jailbreak are greyed out but I can not remove them by holding them and hitting the X once they are shaking.  Delete message comes up and you confirm, but they don't go away.
Thanks for any suggestions as to what I can do.

If the cloud is showing, then it is not on your phone. You can fix it where you cannot see these by going to Settings>Music>Show All Music, turn that off.

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

  • I can't get rid of the spinning beachball. What can i do? Does it need cleaning or what or will it correct itself?

How do i get rid of the spinning beachball? It never stops.Do i need to clean my Mac Pro or do i just wait and let it correct or what? I have a Mac OS X,10.7.5

please tell us how much Ram (memory) you have on board. You can find this by going to the Apple in the corner of your screen, then about this mac, then system report.  that beachball is known as a kernel panic, I think. If you have an application that is stuck, go to Activity monitor and force quit that application if it doesn't want to quit on its own. Also, try running disk utility and repairing permissions.
well, it's a start, anyways, you don't really need to clean your mac pro, or run MacKeeper or anything like that (bad idea)

Make a temporary, backup copy if you don't have a backup copy of the library (select the library and type Command+D) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4
    Launch iPhoto and try again.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • How can i get rid of the zeroes after sub-division of arrays?

    Hi
i have sub-divided a long 1-D array (50000 samples) into a number of smaller sub-arrays with different lengths build in a 2-D array. What happened is, where the sub-arrays end, Labview adds zeroes to them to match the length of the biggest array (558 length). How do i get rid of the zeroes?I just need to have the actual length of each sub-array with now zeroes to it. I have attached my vi

    Hey guys,
when posting examples, don't retain bad programming, even if it only occurs as a side issue. New LabVIEW users will copy everything posted here as gospel!
Ben's workaround is sound, but please refrain form keeping a "cruncher loop". An empty loop without wait will consume all CPU and possible starve all other running processes for no good reason. That polling loop needs a small wait statement!
An empty loop without any wait statement will:
Will spin millions of times per second using 100% of the CPU.
run many iterations before allowing a thread switch.
Add 10 such loops in any program and the program will be unusable (thread gobbling!).
Even a 1ms wait will reduce the CPU consumptions by many orders of magnitude.
Even a 100ms delay will not noticeably delay any user actions.
Waiting for a button press is not something that needs to be handled within nanoseconds.
    Cruncher loop!
Easy correction: place a smal wait inside that loop!

  • Since downloading ios5 on my iphone 4 the capacity guage in itunes shows other as over 21Gb and i can no longer fit any music on it. How do I get rid of the other stuff? other

Since downloading ios5 on my iphone 4 a few days ago, the capacity guage in itunes shows "other" as over 21Gb and i can no longer fit any music on my iphone.
How do I get rid of the other stuff?
capacity available on 32 Gb iphone is 28.49Gb
i previously had 21.97 Gb music, over 6 Gb photos, about 1Gb of apps, and minute amount of audio
now i have no music, 5.4 Gb photos and similar (0.8Gb) for  apps and audio. i have deleted heaps of photos and unused apps to try to make space but obviosly this is a much bigger problem. I also created a smaller music folder on itunes to sync to but at present no music is selected for syncing due to the lack of available space.
i have 15Gb icloud account now also which is about half full.
Ive done a little research and heard similar tales but with much smaller other totals than this. Can you help?
i cant update my apps as i get a message saying i do not have enough available space.

I had the same problem today and was able to resolve it without having to do a restore or reset. The problem had something to do with my mail accounts. The upgrade reset my mail settings, switching both my gmail and my .mac mail to "archive all mail". I went into the General Settings, disabled that setting, and resynced the phone. The "other" storage allottment dropped back down to less than a gig.
Before you restore or reset, I would try that first.
