  • How can I get rid of Top Arcade Hits virus/malware?

I noticed on the past month or two that on certain sites a little bar appears with thumbnails of things thtx are somewhat similar to what I have on screen. I figured it was just annoying adware. l I googled it and it seems the stuff is a virus or malware of some sort. I saw a posting somewhere on this site that Top Arcade Hits can easily be removed by deleting it from the Add-ons. However, my Firefox Add-ons contain nothing about this. Oddly, this intrusion does not appear consistently. I tried to get a screen capture by reopening the site where it pops u but I can't get it to show up in Firefox. However, I opened that site in IE and there it was! I made a screen shot but can't figure out how to attach it. I see that a troubleshooter of some sort (window below) says I have "GreatArcade Hits" Add-on so I seem to have it even though it does not show up on the Add-ons--probably not a good sign.

Since updating with the new software I cannot get yahoo back as my homepage.  How do I get rid of my topsites?

If you are referring to Safari on your Mac then in Safari > Preferences (command-comma), on the General tab you can change 'new windows open with' and 'new tabs open with' to be your homepage instead of 'top sites'

  • How do I get rid of annoying arcade game on new firefox start page?

Most recent update of Firefox plays an annoying arcade-type game on the start page. How can I get rid of it?

Heheh, it's Mozilla being cheerfully quirky on the Firefox page (you are talking about the Mozilla Firefox Start Page or "about:home", right?).
If so, Mozilla will be changing it with another image in the future; I don't know when, though. For now, you have a few options:
    * Set Google/Bing/etc. as your homepage so that you won't see the Start Page when Firefox launches.
    * Use the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stylish/?src=userprofile Stylish] extension to remove the image.
    '''Using the Stylish Addon''':
    # Click the Stylish icon > Write new Style > For this URL (as seen in the first image below)
    # Create a style as seen in the second image (you can name it whatever you'd like, but <br> <code>#brandLogo {<br> &nbsp; visibility: hidden;<br>}</code> <br>must be kept. This makes the arcade game invisible. If you'd like to remove it altogether, swap <code>visibility:hidden;</code> with <code>display:none;</code>.
Save your style. A few weeks later, you can check to see if the arcade game has been removed by Mozilla by disabling the Stylish style on the Start Page. I know it's not a straightforward fix, but it's the best I can do. :)
    I hope that helped you!

  • How can I get rid of top hits in safari on iPad Air.

    Hi,
I've tried everything I can think of to get rid of top hits suggestions in safari on my iPad Air. I've gone into settings and turned off top hits and also cleared history and cache and cookies and yet I'm still getting top hits coming up. I'm using the privacy option and have also rebooted my ipad with no success. Any more suggestions as I don't want top hits showing when in safari, many thanks.

You can go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, cookies and data and then delete every bookmark and that should clear it temporarily, but it will only be temporary. As soon as you starting using the search again, then suggestions will appear again.
I think that I may have misread your question - if you want to clear all of the history - use the Clear History button in the upper right corner of the History window. You cannot delete one item at a time.

  • How do I get rid of "top hits" coming up when I start to enter a web address?

Want to get rid of "top hits" prompts coming up when I start typing a web address.

I doubt there is a way to disable that without deleting history and bookmarkd.
But for a work around follow this thread.

  • How do I get rid of 'Top Hits' in the search bar/ url address bar?

I have websites in my bookmark folders but I don't want them to appear as a suggestion when I search, I've cleared my history and they are still there. I don't wish to delete my bookmarks though.
    I'm using Safari version 6.0

I'm fairly certain that would be illegal of Apple. They MUST provide a way to remove all history, and Top Hits is just an especially annoying form of history.

  • How can I get rid of the dark area on top one third of my iphone screen which spoils my background image?

How can I get rid of the dark area on top one third of my iphone screen which spoils my background image?
It seems this problem is caused by the software to increase the readibility of upper letters (clock battery etc.) It be nice to leave us the control of choosing background letter color too if we are using brighter images or darker images.
I'm using iphone 4s and it appeared after I updated to new patch. 7.1.1.
    Thanks,
    Cem

  • AFter the latest download, my e-mail service keeps getting a bar at the top "Firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page". I have to keep hitting the "Allow" link? How do I get rid of this?

Ever since the last update, I'm having problem accessing my e-mail account. I keep getting an annoying bar at the top of the screen "Firebox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page." I have to keep hitting the allow button, sometimes twice. And when I do get into the accounts the bar jumps in and out every time I open a new e-mail, or delete and old one.
How do I get rid of this. I've had this account for years, with a very reputable private e-mail provider. This is nuts.

    See:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > General : Accessibility : [ ] "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page"
The setting in "Tools > Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

This could well be the notorious Mac Defender - which is an annoying program that tricks you into thinking that your Mac is infected with a virus, when the only infection is Mac Defender itself.
When surfing the web never EVER click on a link that says "Free anti-virus scan" or "Scan now" - they are nearly always scams which will end up infecting your computer.  Although Macs are resistant to viruses, they're not resistant to user stupidity.
If you Google "Mac defender" then you'll find plenty of sites with instructions on how to remove this minor nuisance.  Take this as a warning that you need to be more careful in your surfing habits.

  • How do I get rid of the ugly yellow that is on Mozilla desk top now? I hate it

how do I get rid of the ugly yellow on my desk top now with mozilla it is so ugly and annyoying? Can I change the color?

    See my second reply here:
*[[/questions/1038807#answer-670671]] Who took a pee on Foxfire Start page; how get rid of yellow color?
Mozilla shows snippets on the about:home page to run different campaigns and that changes regularly.
If you prefer not to see snippets on the about:home page or if there are problems with a snippet then you can set the <b>browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl</b> pref to an empty string on the <b>about:config</b> page.
Delete the <b>storage\persistent\moz-safe-about+home</b> folder in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed ("3-bar" Firefox menu button > Exit/Quit) to remove snippets stored in IndexedDB and make Firefox use a default snippet set.
You can reset the browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl pref via the right-click context menu to the default value to re-enable the snippets and make Firefox recreate the moz-safe-about+home folder.
Close and restart Firefox after changing the value of the browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl pref.

A document appears on my desk top. How do I get rid of it?

In some cases, Firefox's downloads folder may be set to your desktop. You can change the downloads folder here:
(If you have the orange Firefox button, tap the Alt key to display the classic menu bar)
    Tools > Options > General
If the file wasn't downloaded using Firefox, have you tried dragging it to the Recycle bin? Does Windows refuse to delete it?
