I just discovered a solution! Go to the upper right hand corner in Firefox where the search bar is. Click on the icon and you'll get a drop-down menu. Go to "manage search engines". You can then delete all the no-good ones, like Bing and Yahoo.

How do you get rid of a greyed out 'installed' badge in apple updates? I have one that never wants to disappear despite having the most recent version of the software ( its evernote in case that helps). That is really the only app that doesn't want to disappear after installation. Any thoughts or ideas out there in the world wide web?

Login to the app store with YOUR ID. You can't use the app store without an Apple ID. If there are apps on the phone that were purchased with the original owners ID, you do NOT own them. The owner had no legal right to give them to you and they are permanently tied to the ID that was used to purchase them.

I gave my daughter my original iPad when I upgraded to iPad2. I deleted iTunes and Quick Time from my computer thinking it would get rid of the old info from the original iPad. I reinstalled iTunes and Quick Time and tried synching my new iPad2. It downloaded the old info from my original iPad to my new iPad2 and now it calls my new iPad2 Linda's iPad. How do I get rid of all the old info and just have my new iPad2 info? I don't mind that it put somethings from my original iPad (movies, books, some - not all - my music, etc). I can't even synch the bluetooth of the iPad2 to the bluetooth of my PC (I think it's all related somehow).
Why would you not want to keep all of the data, apps, music, photos etc that you had on your first iPad on your new iPad? Don't you want to keep all of that content? You bought the apps, music etc with your iTunes account I would assume so why not keep them?
Deleting iTunes simply removes the application from your computer - not the content in your iTunes library.
If you want to rename your new iPad - connect to your PC - launch iTunes - double click on the iPad name on the left side of the iTunes window and you can type in the new name. Then hit the return key on your keyboard.

Sync the Bluetooth of the iPad2 to your PC? You can't sync the two devices via Bluetooth. You pair devices via Bluetooth but that would do no good for you anyway. You can't transfer content from the iPad to the PC via Bluetooth.

Since I have upgraded to iOS 5 and now use iCloud for my contacts, how do I get rid of the From my Mac contacts on my iPhone and iPad?
My contacts show groups from both my Mac and from iCloud.connect the iPhone to the mac, go to iTunes, select the iPhone, in the info tab uncheck the option to sync your contacts. sync now.
Make sure you do a backup(of the iPhone and Mac address book) before you do this. you might need to play a bit with it. If you mess up you will be able to just restore.
i had to try several things before i got the proper iCloud sync working without having to deal with duplicate contacts. -

This sounds more like a Windows question, than a Firefox question. When you say that an image shows up every time you open your computer, do you mean every time you turn on your computer, or every time you start Firefox?

I was told by eBay to set up Mozilla Firefox as I had problems uploading scans on to listings. I now find I have lost all my favourites and there is nothing in the unsorted bookmarks, where you told me they would be. Also it has slowed down my computer considerably, and seems to want to have about ten goes every time you try to get into a website. So it seems totally useless to me, and I want to revert to Internet Explorer. Why is MF such a useless system and how do I delete it - I am very elderly busy computer operator with ;ittle knowledge of systems, what you call things and so on, so please keep it simple. Jeremy
From Bookmarks (at top left of page) select 'Show All Bookmarks'. This will open the bookmarks Library. Have a look around here to see if your bookmarks (favourites) are all there. If so, you can now export them for use in other browsers. Why not take the opportunity to tidy or restrucure them before export?
To export them select 'Import and Backup' then 'Export HTML'. Save the file to somewhere safe on your PC, My Documents perhaps.
I use an Uninstaller Program so I'm not too sure but I think you can uninstall Firefox > Start > All Programs > Mozilla Firefox - and there's possibly an uninstall option here. Failing this, go to the Program folder and find the 'uninstall' folder, double click 'helper.exe' and this will open the Firefox uninstaller. -
I am using Snow Leopard and have no wish to upgrade to Lion. App Store notification indicates that there is an iPhoto 11 update available. When I try to update, the error message indicates that I need Lion to download the update. The notification red circle with the one in it sits attached to the App Store icon and will not go away.
I know that Apple knows that I'm on Snow Leopard, so why bother sending me and update notification that is irrelevant to me.
Any solutions to getting rid of the red circle on the App Store icon?

You installed the "VidX" trojan. To remove it, first open the Applications folder by selecting
Go ▹ Applications
from the Finder menu bar, or by pressing the key combination shift-command-A. Look for an item named "VidX" or similar. If present, drag it to the Trash and empty.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extension with "VidX" or similar in the name. If in doubt, remove all extensions you don't know you need. You may well have more than one that's adware or spyware.

I just moved to Mail from Eudora. There I had the possibility to annotate received messages - which I did a lot, comments, actions to take etc. There doesn't seem to be such a function in Mail. Is there a way aroud this limitation?
