How do I get Siri to understand my school address?

Under my info, I have my home address, my work address, and then I added a third address for my college. I used a custom label, school.
Whenever I ask siri to remind me about something when I get to school, she says she doesnt know my school address, and prompts me to add it. I have also tried it with the default "other" label, and I have tried creating a seperate contact named "school".
Are work and home the only places I can use location-based reminders?

I too had the same problems as everyone else on here but I've sussed it out how to do it. Go on google maps on your phone and find your home or work etc on the map. Now on your home press your finger on the screen and it drops a pin with a blue arrow.
Click on the blue arrow
click on add to contacts
click on add to existing contact
find your own contact details and click on it
your details open up with the address you dropped the pin on now in your address field.
click on edit at the top right hand side of the screen
now scroll down to the address and click on the address description at the side of the listed address and select either home, work other or add custom label.
The custom label is good for anything else you need to name. I have all our branches now listed under say, wolverhampton brach, telford branch etc. This way I can get siri to remind me where ever I want to go such as " remind me to get my tools back when i get to the "wolverhampton branch". Works 100% every time this way.

I'm pulling my hair out! I've tried over and over to get Siri to recognize "arrive at". I've spoken "arrive at Walmart", "arrive Walmart" "arrive" (hoping she'll ask, "ok. When you arrive. Ok, I figured it out (and it doesn't depend on iCloud): I ask Siri for a list of local walmarts (or whatever). After she lists the local establishments, I select the correct one. That selection will then show more information. I select "create new contact". I say to Siri, "Walmart is my store". She asks "which Walmart?" I select the new contact. Now I can say "when I arrive at my store", and she creates the memo.
I also gave the store, rite-aid, a human name, "Bubba Smith". Siri could not accept my spoken "rite-aid" without calling it "right aid". After the contact was created, I said, "remind me pick up Benedryl". She asked when, and I said "when I arrive at Bubba's". That also works.
I hope this helps someone else, who, just like me, doesn't want to use up data by uploading and downloading things to iCloud.

I can't get siri to recognize my school address...

Title says it all. I've got my school address under my personal contact card (and I've also created a new contact for it), and it just does not accept it as 'school'.
It is labeled properly and works when I put the tag as 'work'. Siri says it can't edit contacts and just pops up my contact card where it clearly says 'school' next to the address.
I've read that people are having no problem with custom labels...why won't this work?!

Ha --- just figured it out! Very important that I got from someone else's post: if I say "remind me to call home when I get to school" it doesn't work. If I say "remind me to call home when I get to MY school," it works like a charm.
There you go! the other person said it had to be done with everything, including places like Target. "remind me to buy milk when I get to my Target."

How did they get Siri so right and yet so very very wrong?

Siri can understand some absolutely amazing things and I am often in awe of the accomplishment. But there are some things that are just mind boggliningly crazy.
I have a friend with an unusual name, "Irfan." I cannot make Siri understand his name. It keeps responding with things like "I cannot understand your Fujin." and some that are even more bizarre than that.
For a short while she seemed to settle on "I Irfan" which couldn't be understood either. But finally it seems to have settled on "your phone." So I thought I would add a phonetic first name to his contact. His name doesn't really sound like "your-phone" but I figured if that is how Siri hears it...
But that hasn't helped either.
Anybody have any idea how to get Siri to understand unusual names?

I suppose access to the log is yet another thing apple removed from their toyland version 6 airport utility.. if so you will need to install 5.6.. which is a bit tricky but can be done.
Download the real utility.. not available for ML so the lion version.

Download install and run unpkg.

Drag the pkg file of airport 5.6 utility over unpkg.. it will unpack it to the desktop in a directory.. AirPortUtility56, drill down, applications, utilities and you will find the actual utility.. drag it to your utilies directory. Now you have a REAL TOOL not a TOY.. Log is under advanced.
Then you will know what is happening instead of living in the darkness.

I found that the only time Siri will read anything to you is if it finds a Wikipedia article. Siri will let you know it found that, and ask if you want it to be read out loud. Other than that you will hear the "I found this, take a look".
The only other thing you can do is activate "Speak Screen". It will involve you taking a look at your phone for a moment, selecting what you'd like to look at, but Siri will read the content to you. It's in Settings > General > Accessibility. Once activated, all you have to do is slide two fingers from the top of the screen and you will have it read to you. I use it all the time because of my astigmatism. It's pretty useful.

It would look something like this 1-800-555-5555;12345678#. This way when you tell Siri to call "My Bridge" she'll dial and then you'll notice an option in the lower left to dial the pass code. Press that and you're all set. You can do the same for frequent conference bridges you connect to. Hope this helps.

When I say "comma" Siri will insert a comma (,) into the dial string, but the Phone app ignores everything after the comma and does not dial it:
     Example: (123) 456-7890, 1234567   results in only this being dialed: (123) 456-7890
