Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

  • For weeks I have been viewing a doggy day care via their web cam.  This weekend I upgraded to Lion and have been unable to view the center since.  I get an error message for java webcam class not found.  All of my software is up to date--suggestions?

For weeks I have been viewing a doggy day care center via their web cam.  This weekend I upgraded to Lion and have been unable to view the center.  I get an error message for Java plug-in 1.6.0_29 ....webcam class not found.  Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Sorry, don't know what else to suggest unless there's a URL to the problem stream that someone here can try. Otherwise we can't test it to try and determine what might be wrong.
BTW, make sure they're testing it with a Mac, not with a Windows system. If they test only with Windows, what they say is or is not working doesn't mean much.

  • If I have a MacBook Pro with Leopard on it. How do I get Snow Leopard so I can upgrade to Lion and Mountain Lion?

I cannot find Snow Leopard to buy so I can upgrade eventually to Mountain Lion on my MacBook Pro with Leopard on it.

    Glad to help.
Next, some PPC applications that were supported in Leopard and SL will not run because ML does not have Rosetta.  Read this table to see if you have any applications that will not run: http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also, pardon the possible insult but: BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP
Many have decided to go back from ML (not questioning their decision, just saying they do), and with no solid image of what they had, they have a long road of re-construction ahead.

  • I just purchased an iphone4 to replace my 3gs.  how do I get my computer to recognize my iphone4 so that I can download my music and photos?

I just purchased an iphone4 to replace my 3gs.  How do I sync my new phone to my computer to download my music and photos etc.?

Well if you synced and backed up your iPhone 3GS in iTunes, all you have to do is plug it into your computer and right click on it in the iTunes sidebar. Then select restore from backup and choose the iPhone 3GS backup. All of your settings, contacts, music, photos, etc will be transferred.

  • SSRS - How to display all the results from a query and then be able to filter the data

Let's say I have a simple query that will return products name, ID, price
    SELECT pname,
    pID,
    price
    FROM products
When I display the results in SSRS the user will (without entering any parameters) see something like:
Product Name | ID | Price
    xyz                    1     $10.00
    .zzz                    10   $4,000.00
How can I filter my results once they are displayed? For instance, Out of the results the user wants to see only the products where price is between $10 and $3000?
    -Alan

    Hi Visahk,
Maybe I did not explain my issue very good.
I want the user to first see all results (without entering the price range) - then if he wants she/he can filter the results by price.
    As soon as I add
WHERE price BETWEEN @StartPrice AND @EndPrice
to my SQL query, the user is prompted to enter a price range before seeing any data.
    -Alan
Ok for that what you can do is to set allow null value property for the parameters.
Then set NULL as default value for parameters in parameter properties tab
and make the query as below
WHERE price BETWEEN @StartPrice AND @EndPrice
OR (@StartPrice IS NULL AND @EndPrice IS NULL)
and then report will get executed without waiting for any prompt and user may change values at a later stage and rerun it

Latest version of Lightroom will not download RAW files from my D750. How does one get around this? Bought Lightroom for it's ability to manage RAW files and now very disappointed.

Here is the contents of a batch file which will convert whatever raws you drop on it:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe DNG Converter" -cr7.1 -dng1.4 -p0 %*
Once you download the latest converter (release candidate from adobe labs, if necessary), and save the appropriate contents of the batch file (change path to match your system, and parameters to match your druthers, if applicable), the procedure is:
    1. Drop raw files on bat file.
    2. Import as usual (the DNGs).
Not too bad once you're set up (if DNG converter supports your raws).
    Documentation:
    http://wwwimages.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/products/photoshop/pdfs/dng_commandline.pd f
Note: on Mac, you may need to use "$@" (with the double-quotes) instead of %* (which is dos batch syntax), and you will need to use the full path to the converter executable file, e.g.
    “/Applications/Adobe DNG Converter.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe DNG Converter”
If too much, just use the GUI instead of the bat file.

  • How do I get Monaco 10pt in Snow Leopard to Lion?

Monaco 10pt in Snow Leopard was my favorite TextEditor and Terminal font:
It doesn't look very good here because the image is scaled and I believe it was a bitmap font.
I've just upgraded to Lion and its Monaco 10pt looks completely different:
Is there any way I can install the old Monaco 10pt font in Lion?  I've tried exporting (from Snow Leopard) and importing (into Lion) and despite some issues I believe I imported it successfully, but with no change in the font's apperance.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Found the answer myself.
    Using Terminal as an example:
    1. Go to Applications->Utilities
    2. Right click Terminal and select Get Info
    3. Check the "open in low resolution" checkbox
    4. Open the Terminal app
    5. Go to Terminal->Preferences
    6. Uncheck the "antialias text" checbox.

  • How can I unistall Lion and go back to Snow Leopard?

I upgraded to Lion (stupidly and blindly) and now most of my programs are not compatible.  What is the process to go back to Snow Leopard?

Given the lack of response to this particular discussion, and given all the various and sundry ideas on this topic, I have had a panic-stricken 48 or so hours since I asked my question.  Here's what finally worked to get me back to normal:
    1.  First, I gritted my teeth and erased my hard drive, hoping and praying I'd be able to restore from Time Machine.  I'd been backing up for quite some time, but never needed it before.  HOWEVER:
Lion evidently left little gremlins all over my hard drive, because I simply could not get my hard drive restored properly, not from the Time Machine restore function on the SL disk NOR from a manual  "Star Wars" pick and choose with my Time Machine.  Therefore (and this is important):
I zeroed out my hard drive completely, after trying for an entire day to get things back to normal.  What you have to do is start up from the Snow Leopard disk, and do a COMPLETE erase, by which I mean that when you use DU to erase your hard drive, you go into the "security" panel on th DU screen and do a 7-pass zero-initialization of your hard drive, i.e., write zeros all over everything on your hard drive seven times, leaving it truly free of that yucky Lion.  THEN I reinstalled Snow Leopard, ran Software Update several times until it had updated everything it wanted to ad nauseum, and THEN was able to get Time Machine to work properly and bit by bit restored everything I wanted to restore.  I am appalled at the lack of accurate documentation that comes with Time Machine, frankly.  Anyway, when you get ready to restore your software AFTER you put the Snow Leopard system back on your hard drive and update it, you have to go back to a backup from BEFORE you installed Lion, though:  this is important.  Don't try to put anything associated with Lion back on your hard drive.  For me, that backup was done was last Friday.  It took ages, but....my hard drive is now purring like a kitten, and I have Snow Leopard and all my old software back.  It was a mess, but it seems to be over.  I learned from this disaster how important it is to completely wipe your hard drive clean before trying to reinstall an older  operating system.  As far as Lion goes, I will be extremely careful before I assume any new upgrade is a good upgrade.  It isn't.  I LIKE my elderly Adobe programs and my kid likes her games that need Rosetta, as does Word 2004.  My Mac is much happier with Snow Leopard.  For now.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

  • Do I have to upgrade to Snow Leopard before I can upgrade to Lion?

Chrome will no longer update unless I update my MacBook.  I have Leopard. Do I have to upgrade to Snow Leopard first before i can upgrade to Lion or can I go straight to Lion? And should I back up my hard drive first before I do an upgrade?

You need Apple Store to upgrade to Lion (unless you bought a usb with Lion on it).
Snow Leopard will have the App Store once you update.
This is how I did it Leopard --> Snow Leopard --> update to get the App Store --> Lion.
And Yes, you should always back up your hard drive before doing any upgrade : )
Btw, here's the unofficial way of updating Leopard to Lion.  I never tried it, can't say it will work, so do it at your own risk.

  • I just upgraded to Lion and want to go back to Snow Leopard ..I have time machine..is there a way?

I just upgraded to Lion and Quicken will not work and not sure if I want to go back to Snow Leopard.  I have a timemachine and would like to know if someone could help to either get quicken working or how I can get back to snow leopard?

Did you check the Quicken website before upgrading your Mac? It specifically says that Quicken will not work on Lion.
    http://quicken.intuit.com/support/help/install--register--and-convert/quicken-fo r-mac-compatibility-with-mac-osx-10-7-lion/GEN83208.html
Just reinstall Snow Leopard. Should work fine. You can downgrade to previous software as long as the Mac supports the earlier version. If it previously had Snow Leopard, then re-installing is fine.
However!!! If you have a newer computer that was "born with" Lion, you cannot downgrade, as the firmware will not be compatible.
    Good Luck!

  • CAN I REMOVE LION AND GO BACK TO SNOW LEOPARD

can i remove lion and return to snow leopard

I see the help offered.  I have just posted the same question and now see others with the same problem.  Lion may be fine, but for me It's giving me a headache.  A couple years ago I switched from a long time PC user to Mac largely because I was tired of the constant "upgrade" "patch and fix" merry-go-round we get with "those other guys".  My Macbook Pro worked well with Snow Leopard but was eventually talked into the Lion upgrade.  24 hours later, I'm sorry I did.  Some of my software that worked for me is not supported by Lion and neither is my Linkstation (where I have my files and backups).  I tried installing the disk that came with the system to revert or return to factory condition but it too returned an error message "...software not supported...".  I tried both pressing "C" during startup and when that failed, tried installing from the disk after Lion loaded, same result.
I see that suggested as a solution so I'll try again, just in case I missed something, but if there are other thoughts or suggestions, they are appreciated.  I've tried to go into disk utility to partician, nope not allowed, can should I "erase" the current partician or ????
I don't know... thanks for any suggestions to clean this up.
    Thanks.

I recently upgraded to Lion, and immediately started having consistent problems with Open Office 12 (would hang, and need a Force quit to recover). Has anybody else seen these problems? Any solutions other than going back to Snow Leopard? (I did). But I'd like to use iCloud with iPad.

Hi Pete. The repair of disk permissions can help resolve  any application crashing or misbehaving.
As for Lion and the two camps, I think that is a reasonable observation. In my office we have about a dozen Mac's and about one third of those Mac's had problems after updating from 10.6 to 10.7. The main problem for these Mac's was a loss of wifi stability. But for the other two-thirds, Lion was a smooth transition.
Personally, my Lion experience was fine. But I did get a new i7 MacBook Pro with Lion already installed and only had to migrate my user data from a 10.6.8 TM backup.
So I think that is a key for Lion's operational success. A clean install of Lion on a new Mac would not cause too many operational issues. But an installation, or more correctly, an update to Lion from SL increased the chances of failure for some users - especially when old software & plugins resided on the Mac. And I would say that they were the people that you saw at the Apple store.
As for the "latest release of Lion fixed my problems" statement, my experience with these and other forums is that people mostly only go there to complain about the problems they are having. If they are having no problems then they either keep it to themselves or they try to help the users who are experiencing trouble...

Alternatively, partition your internal HD and dual-boot it. Do note that you have to reboot to switch back and forth. You can't do it by logging out and back in.
