  • How can I get songs from iTunes onto my iPhone

Help!  I just downloaded the new update onto my 3gs and I can't sync the songs in iTunes BACK onto my iPhone....
    M

I'm having similar problems. going from an iphone used on a different computer to a new mac is extremely difficult. In order to add those songs that have been "skillfully acquired" requires the owner to "erase and sync" everything from the iphone. Not only that, I have bought hundreds of songs from iTunes (they have a lot of my money) and I have problems now when i purchase a song from my mac that does not auto. sync to my phone. it requires me to manually download the song itunes app on the phone in the purchased section.
I love Apple, no other computer or mobile device - in my opinion - can compare. However, these added securities and the red tape found in iTunes is frustrating and inconveniencing.

  • How can I get songs from iPhone into iTunes

okay so on my old computer (and on my iphone now) i had/have around 1000 songs in my itunes from various websites, around half of these are free downloads of independant artists and things like that, so not purchased in itunes. the other half i did purchase. my old computer broke, so i can't get to any of the non purchased songs, besides from my phone. i transferred all my purchases into my new computers itunes so around 450 of my songs i can access, but the rest are only on my phone. itunes keeps prompting me to erase and sync but that would get rid of all the non purchased songs on my phone so they would basically be lost forever, right? i know they want me to do that to protect against illegal downloads and things like that but this stuff isn't downloaded illegally! is there anything i can do to get my music on this computer or am i basically screwed? also i've tried downloading a few free tracks from various websites (again, legally)... they are showing up in my itunes library but every time i try to drag them onto my phone it doesn't work. my computer is authorized and i've tried everyhting else i can think of... can anyone help? i have windows 8 and my itunes and iOS are both updated fully, if that makes any difference. thanks!

The iphone//ipad/ipod is not a backup/storage device.  The sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The exception is itunes purchases.
There is no free, or Apple supported,  way to extract any other music.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything back.
Iphone sync with one computer at a time.  Syncing to another will erase the current content from the iphone and replace with the content of the new computer.

  • Get songs from ipod onto computer

their are certain songs that i dont have on my new computer but i have them on my ipod how do i get them onto my new cpu

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases and you are using iTunes 7 you don't need any additional software. The transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod

  • PC broken - how do I get songs from iPhone 3G to iTunes in new PC?

The laptop I had installed iTunes for my iPhone 3G on has gone to PC heaven so I have purchased a new laptop PC. Can I install iTunes on the new PC and connect my iPhone to it without deleting all the songs in my iPhone??
The old laptop won't even switch on so I can't deauthorize it.
    Thanks in advance
    Santos

*The old laptop won't even switch on so I can't deauthorize it.*
You can't individually deauthorise 'dead' installations or computers you no longer have access. However once you reach the limit of 5 authorisations you'll have the option to deauthorise them all in one go from your iTunes account and start over. *Just note that you can only use this option once a year*: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

  • Importing songs from iPhone onto computer...

I have a different iTunes library than I do my phone because I had to recently restore my computer.
There are so many songs on my iPhone that are not on my computer and I'd like to add them. How do I go about doing this? The only option my computer gives me is to sync and erase the songs on my iPhone and I don't want to do that!

ITunes includes an option to transfer content purchased from the iTunes Store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for content purchased from the iTunes Store only.
With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
FYI - for this reason and for a number of other reasons is why maintaining a backup of your iTunes library and other data on your computer is so important. It isn't a matter of if but when your hard drive has a partial or complete failure since none last forever. This is important regardless the platform - a Windows PC or a Mac but even more so with a Windows PC with constant virus, adware and spyware concerns which isn't a problem with a Mac and OS X.

If the computer's running Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.
If the computer's running Windows, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.

  • How do I get songs from iPod(video) to iTunes(7 and using VISTA).

How do I get songs from iPod(video) to iTunes(i'm using iTunes7 and Vista).
I don't have the disc, cause i can't find it. But my computer downloaded the ipod, it just cant find the files?
i've been looking through the topics for the past hour and none of them helped. Maybe i'm stupid i dont really know, but i've restored my old computer a couple times and i found a post and it helped both times. now i can't find it anymore.
THIS IS THE ONE I'VE BEEN SEEING AND IT DOESN'T HELP ME ONE BIT:
Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.
Can someone give me a link, or tell me one that shows step by step.

Here is a way of doing it, for another take on this, search the forum for posts by Zevoneer.
    Copy from iPod to PC
It is important not to allow your iPod to sync with an empty library. If it is set to synchronise automatically you will get a message saying your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to sync – it is important to press cancel as syncing with an empty library erases all music from your iPod.
You can also prevent auto sync by holding down shift & ctrl as you plug in your iPod and keeping the keys held down until the iPod appears in iTunes.
Once you are connected, you need to set your iPod to manage music manually.

If you have an iPod with iTunes Store purchases on it, you can use it to copy your purchases to other authorized computers.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesWin/7.3/en/2586win.html
However this is not allowed for other music.
This MacMuse tip tells you how to copy music from your iPod using Windows Explorer, but it is a bit fiddly:

Otherwise you can use third party software to manage the transfer, there are a variety of programs out there, some free and some that will copy ratings and counts as well as the music files. Here is a selection, check them out and see what suits you.

  • How do I get contacts from iphone5 onto new pc?

How do I get contacts from iphone5 onto new pc?  They do show up on my Ipad but not in icloud on my pc.  Thank you.

If you are trying to do this with iCloud, make sure your Mac is running OS X Lion (10.7.2) or higher, then go to Settings>iCloud on your phone, sign in with your Apple ID to create your account, turn Contacts to On, then on your Mac go to System Preferences>iCloud, sign into your account and check Contacts.
If you only want to import a copy of your contacts from your Mac to your phone without using iCloud, do the following:
Open Contacts (Address Book) on your Mac, go to View>Groups.
Click on the All Contacts group, select any contact to the right, thengo to Edit>Select All (Command-A) to select them all.
Export to a vCard by going to File>Export>vCard, save this on your desktop.
Send an email to yourself with this file as an attachment.
Open the email on your iPhone and tap the attachment to import the contacts to your phone.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, not good, then you can transfer itunes purchases from your ipod:  File>Transfer Purchases

  • How to delete multiple songs from iPhone 5S without losing form iTunes? The unchek function has not worked. Why?

How to delete multiple songs from iPhone 5S without losing form iTunes? The unchek function has not worked. Why?

Sorry I had to reply through your profile Gail from Maine, my PC has java issues. In any event, when I delete them directly from my device everything is perfect and cool. However, in the rare instance I want to add new music that I actually buy in stores (I know, quite the unique and old-fashioned idea...but hey Im an audiophile) once I upload the tunes, everytime I sync my library it re-adds everything that I spent hours deleting. In a perfect world, I thought I could maintain a massive iTunes Library, and add or delete (remove) songs from my iPhone to save both memory or keep my iPhone selections more current/apt to my musical "tastes" at that time. I know about the whole playlist thing, but thought there might be an easier way. ie - checking/un-checking the little box next to the song name, and then doing a sync. Again, everytime I do this however, whether everything is checked or un-checked it adds the entire library! So frustrating. Any suggestions. Thank you graiously in advance for your help.

  • How do i get pictures from iphone to mac?

How do i get pictures from iphone to mac?

If you want your photos to end up in iPhoto, just do a normal sync. If you don't want to use iPhoto, or if you just want to put your phone photos in a normal visible folder on the desktop, luckily when you plug in the iPhone a Mac sees it like a camera or card reader. This means the iPhone will show up in common applications that have an import-from-camera feature. I've copied photos off my iPhone using Apple Image Capture, PhoneView, and Adobe Lightroom, for example.
