How do I get sound out of my tv and not my macbook pro when I am streaming?

I don't know how to get the sound, when I am streaming, to come out of my tv rather than my macbook.
Thanks.

You should certainly get the sound coming from your TV if you are streaming there from your Mac. Can we assume you are streaming via iTunes?
Which versions of the following are you using --
MacOS
iTunes
Apple TV
Was this previously working and now is not? If so, what has changed since it was working?

  • How do I get sound out when I plug in a USB mic?

How do I get sound out when I plug in a USB mic?  I cannot hear my instrument tracks either.  It will record my vocals, but I can't hear them.  If I unplug the mic and restore the internal devices, then I can hear all tracks, including the vocals.  I'm sure there's a simple solution.

    Hi
Prior to Logic 9, you cannot separately choose Input/Output audio devices, so you either have the USB Mic, or the Built-in audio (or an external audio interface).
To set up for 'mixed' devices, you need to use AudiMIDI Setup (Utilities folder) to create an Aggregate Device.

Note that I recall that it was 'sensitive' to which order you create the devices with some USB Mics.

  • How can I get the old view of iCal back on my MacBook Pro and iPhone?

How can I get the old view of iCal back on my MacBook Pro and iPhone?  The Mavrick version is crisp and clean but a colored dot is not the same as a highlighted word. I rely on my iCal on my MacBook Pro and iPhone 5 to help me track which of the 8 sites I visit for my job during the week - the color coding is (was key) to organizing and tracking meetings.  I hate the upgrade!

If purchased through the Mac App Store then it can be installed on up to five authorized CPUs. Otherwise, it's controlled by the license that came with the software.
To install on another computer copy the downloaded installer application to the other computer.

how do I get my apple tv icon to show on my macbook pro. I'm running maverick.

Thanks for the link Diesel. Not quite there yet. Software is all up to date to 6.0.2. Your link suggests I should have second or third gen apple tv. Not sure what generation Apple TV I have.  Don't believe its a really early model.  I have model MC572LL/A. But it has the latest update, so I would think it would connect.  Still no apple tv icon on my macbook pro.

  • How can i get or download the apple hardware test for a macbook pro made in 2012 running Mavericks 10.9.3

Does anyone know how can i get or download the apple hardware test for a macbook pro made in 2012 running Mavericks 10.9.3. Thanks.

    Sean and Andy -
I have to agree with Andy here. I am having the same problem on a mid 2010 MBP (6,2). I have already read the AHT info provided by Sean's link, and they are less than helpful. I'm sure they will be helpful to those who find that they work, but they are confusing if this is not the case. For example, my MBP(6,2) came with ONE (not two) installation disks, so the instructions don't work for me. Another issue is the instructions confound the descriptions related to the MBP, the original (delivered) software (OS X version), and the current installed OS X upgrade software.
So here's what does NOT work for me...
         (A) I cannot install 'Disk 2', since I never received this with my original (new) purchase in mid 2010.
         (B) I have checked my firmware versions and they are all up to date, as per Apple's information.
         (C) As suggested in another thread, I looked for /Library/Core Services/.diagnostics and it was NOT present. I followed his instructions, downloaded the correct (I believe) dmg, and installed it. It is in the correct place, and I can see all the invisible files using Pathfinder.
         (D) When I re-start holding down the D key (immediately), it just goes through the normal boot routine; no evidence of AHT.
(E.1) When I re-start holding down OPT-D, I get a spinning globe, and then it prompts me for a network (wi-fi) connection.
(E.2) For some unknown reason, the prompt identifies between 2 and 5 of my --neighbors'--  routers, but does not show mine. (??!!)
(E.3) The routers are listed alphabetically; however, my router SHOULD be at the top of the list by this criterion, but it is nowhere to be seen.
(E.4) The 'internet recovery' process then allows me to enter a network name AND password. I do this, for my current wi-fi router, and the process rejects it as an incorrect login ID. It is NOT an incorrect login ID!
So, now asking Sean and Andy (or anyone else) for further suggestions... ???  As Andy suggested, many people ask questions here because they have -already- worked through the 'official' recommendations, and have found them to be inadequate.
Any advice would be appreciated!  TIA.

How do I get water out of my Mac book and will it still work?

You can't and it won't, it's done for.
Take the hard drive out, use a SATA to USB adapter cable and install MacDrive in Windows to read files or use Migration Assistance on your new Mac to transfer apps and files over.

    Hi Heidi,
Do tou mean it only boors to a blue screnn???
    If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

  • How do I get sound out of all 5.1 speake

Thanks for the answer to my last post. Sound very slightly comes out of the rear and center speaker. Maybe my question should've been, how do I raise the volume of the rear speakers? IS it at the CMSS screen? Thanks again.

  • How do I get sound out of the HDMI?

    Hi!
The headline says pretty much what I want to ask.
I tried to connect my Samsung LED TV to my MacBook Pro using an HDMI cable and an adaptor from HDMI to Thunderbolt (the little lightening-port). I bought an adaptor that supports sound transfer so that should not be the problem. I chose audio-in from the proper HDMI channel on my TV but the sound is still coming out from the laptop and the TV says nada...
Anyone have an idea what I might missing?

tjk: I think the quoted message simply indicates that there is no output volume control provided within the computer when the HDMI connection is the selected output device. This standard message appears because the audio signal sent via the HDMI cable is digital, not analog. When the audio output is digital, whether it's via mini-Displayport or a mini-TOSLink connection to the headphone port, the volume is always controlled externally — by the TV set, amplifier, receiver, or powered speaker system to which the signal is sent, not by the computer. A digital audio signal contains no volume information. The device that converts it to an analog signal and relays it to the loudspeaker(s) must provide the volume information.
Thanks eww, I was not aware of that. Makes perfect sense.
Poor, I'm not sure where that leaves us, but if the TV is on and the volume turned on/not muted, and still no audio coming through, I'd try a PRAM Reset and an SMC Reset:

  • How can I get an audio-in connector to work with a MacBook Pro (Mid 2012)?

I have a Plantronics headset with two cables: audio in and audio out (like the two connectors on the old MacBooks). It is pretty old and so I assumed it was for those. I have tried to get it to work with my mid-2012 MacBook Pro, but the microphone (audio in [yes, it does have a picture of a microphone on it]) cable isn't recognized by the Mac. It thinks it is headphones, and unsuccessfully tries to play sound through it. The other cable (audio out), however, successfully receives sound and plays it through.
I hope that makes sense, and I would appreciate any help .

They removed the audio input, starting from your model, you will need an USB interface, there are may, and it depends on how high of quality you need.
This works for most applications, unless you are trying to record "music quality"

  • How do I install sound drivers on the PC side of my MacBook pro

My son used bootcamp to create a PC side of our MacBook Pro. However, now there is no sound. I asked about it on a previous post, and was told to install the drivers from the installation discs. However, neither of us knows how to access the discs from the PC side. I could use some step-by-step instructions.
AND, another issue: I tried to download a massive (3.2GB) program (for a school course) and was unable to do so on the PC side because of corruption (SLLLOOOOWWW download speed). So I downloaded it on my eMac and transferred it to the PC side of the PowerBook via flash drive. I was able to install it, no problem (or so I believe), but then I couldn't open the program. The only desktop icon was the Install package (.dmg). I went in to the 'programs' section (of the PC) and tried to select it there, but again there was no icon to open it. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    Fred J.

    Hi again Bob,
When I went to that link about Bootcamp, it didn't tell me how to do the thing I really need to do. I can boot up into windows (hold down alt. key while restarting, right). But how do I ask Windows to find the right drivers? As you can see, I'm clueless on this. I need a step-by-step set of directions. Do you know of any post that has them? And if I have to "manually go to the device site", I assume that that means that the drivers don't exist on the Mac install disks. What device site would I go to?
About the PC program, I may not have been clear enough. The program I downloaded was not in Mac format. I didn't try to open it or run it on the Mac. I just spoke to the people who make the program and they say that, yes, it is possible to do what I did; the problem has to do with serial #'s of some sort. I'll let you know how it turns out.
    TIA
    Fred J.

  • Multiple users in household, how do I simply sign out of an account and not delete the account?

I just got an iPad and am still figuring out its quirks. One thing that is completely frustrating me is that I am being told that I have to delete accounts instead of simply being able to sign out? I don't get it? For instance the Gmail app lets you switch between accounts but both are always signed in. Same with iCloud and Appleid's. I don't get it? I have multiple users at my house that use the same apps but we can't sign in and out as our respective selves? Is this an Apple thing? I haven't used Apple products since the mid 90's so I could just be out of the loop? Not being able to Sign in and out doesn't seem very logical to me so it makes me think that I must be missing a step because why on Earth would you not have that function? Help me understand. Please and thank you.

You are not going to like the answer, but no you cannot sign out of email accounts on the iPad. The iPad was originally designed to be a single user device that was to be used in conjunction with one's own iTunes library. That was back in 2010 when the first iPad was released. many things about the way you can use an iPad have changed, but it still designed to be a single user device.
Anybody can check email in a web browser on the iPad, just like one can check ther email on any computer by signing into their account, but the built in Mail app does not have separate user accounts. You can sign into and out of Apple ID's on the iPad but that is where Family Sharing comes into play.
