How do I get the codec for .mov files recorded on an ipad, so I can edit them in premiere El. 12?
I have .mov files recorded from an ipad with these specs:
AAC, Mono, 44.100 KHZ
H.264 320x568 (yes the ipad was used vertically, not horizontally)
29.96 fps
I want to edit them in premiere 12, but get this error message:
This type of file is not supported or the required codec is not installed.
What are my options? Thanks!

As for orientation, there is a rotation feature in Premiere Elements 12....at the Timeline level, you can right click the clip and select Rotate 90 Left or Rotate 90 Right. So that may help.
This is what you may want to try and see what this looks like
1. Open Premiere Elements 12 to its Expert workspace
2. Go to File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings
3. In the Change Settings dialog, change the project preset to NTSC DV Widescreen.
4. Before you exit that area, in the last dialog that you see (new project dialog), make sure you have a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on this Project".
5. Back in the Expert workspace, use Add Media/Files and Folders/ to bring your video into Project Assets from where you will drag it to Video Track 1. We can talk about edits if necessary.
6. Publish+Share/Disc/DVD disc with preset set for NTSC_Widescreen_Dolby DVD.
7. Place your DVD 4.7 GB/120 min disc in the burner, in the burn dialog, have a check mark next to "Fit Content to Available Space". Hit Burn.
If you decide to take the Timeline to YouTube instead,
Publish+Share/Social Websites/YouTube, using Presets = Flash Video for YouTube (Widescreen)
Hit Next and follow the instructions.
(Upload to YouTube from within Premiere Elements 12 has limits of 2 GB and 15 minutes. Anything exceeding that, you need to export to file saved to the computer hard drive and then upload that file to YouTube at the YouTube web site where you might be able to get extended limits.

Add On...If you want to "decorate" the black borders in the Timeline content, drag the video to Video Track 2 and put a colored background on Video Track 1 directly below the Video Track 2 content.

Thank you for your response. When I said I had tried Camtasia, I meant that I had tried to import the files into Camtasia. However, Camtasia, like Premier Elements, will NOT allow me to import these older Matrox AVI files into their editing programs. These older Matrox AVI files will playback fine in a program I downloaded called "GomPlayer", Today I discovered that GomPlayer allows me to view the properties of the clip, and they are pasted below. Hopefully, with this newer info, it will help me with my capture sistuation.

how one can get the playback of .mov files with Redcode Codecs?Well, one typically doesn't edit with any of the proxy-files the RED camera produces. You need to convert the RED footage to ProRes. Log and Transfer can do this, if you download and install the RED Log and Transfer plugin. Or you might need to use RED software to convert the footage to ProRes. But those Red proxy files won't import via log and transfer, and are NOT editable in FCP. Gotta convert to ProRes.

Oh, I see…….when I want something like this to happen I would just engage the >Go To Start< command (0 on the numeric keyboard in my case) and the play head will position at the beginning of a cycle area (if one is active of course)!

Unless the movies are defective, you probably cannot get a refund, since the terms of sale for the iTunes Store state that all sales are final. You can contact the iTunes Store, explain the reason for your request, and ask, though:

It's possible they'll make an exception for you. If the movies are defective in some way, your chances of a refund or replacement are good.

The Font is fine for pringingMac's don't have UI scale options like Windows has.
Either you can drop the screen resolution in Displays a wee bit and make things appear distorted, or do what I do and use the Universal Access and set a control key, then use a mouse wheel/scroll to zoom in and out where the mouse is pointed.

How do I get the Label for a Front Panel Control to appear in the Block Diagram but not on the Front Panel? On the Front Panel I am making a complex control that consists of a Slider and a Numerical Input box. Both Controls display the same information and either can be used for Input. When one changs, the other is made to display the same value.
But I only want the Slider to display the Label on the Front Panel, to avoid confusion. On the Block Diagram however, I want both controls to display their Labels so that I know what they are. How do I display the Label for a Control on the Block diagram, but not display its Label on the Front Panel?No. The Label Visible property is separate for the front panel control label and the block diagram terminal label.
How did you start out with the block diagram's label not being visible? Whenever I drop a control or indicator, the label is always visible on both the FP and BD by default. Maybe there is a LabVIEW option that causes new controls/indicators not to have their labels visible by default, but I have yet to find it. I don't think an item should ever be dropped without the label visible, good LabVIEW coding practice demands that the labels for control terminals on the block diagram be visible so that you know what control or indicator a wire is going to.
That being said, I have seen a lot of VI's posted where the label for the terminal on the BD is not shown (against good programming practice.) I've gone to the BD and right clicked to show the label. Sometimes, the people have an empty label (which will turn off the visibility for both the FP and BD) and I'm forced to add some text of my own into the label so I can figure out what their code is doing. When I add some text to the label, at that time, I find both the BD and FP labels become visible.
Are you dealing with controls that have empty labels to start?
Good programming practices:
1. Always have a name for all of your controls, never use and empty label by deleting the text in the label.
2. Make the labels unique. For example, don't have two controls both called Stop. How do you know quickly know which terminal relates to which control?
3. Always show the labels on the block diagram, so you know the function of a control's terminal. If you want to hide the label on the FP, that's okay.
4. If you want a different label to appear on the FP than whatever you actually called the control, then use the caption. You can hide the label and show the caption. This is useful if you need to programmatically change what the "label" is on the front panel such if you are making an application that needs to change its user interface such as for a foreign language. -

HI, I recently upgraded my operating system IOS 5.0.1 on an iphone 3gs. My question is, how do I get the text messaging preview to just pop up so that I can see the name only when the lock screen is on? The conventional ways of doing this, such as using turning off the SMS preview under the "passcode lock", well that option no longer exists, or if it does, I'm somehow missing it.
When I go to the "messages" setting under settings on my phone, I still don't see an option of turning it off.
If I can just get the name of the person sending the message, as I had it before, I'd be happy.
