iPhoto does not duplicate photos ever - you may import duplicate photos if you choose - if you do not want to make sure the check box next to hide previously imported photos is checked and be careful not to import multiple copies of photos

How do you get the Touch to not shuffle a playlist?

I created a playlist for a class I teach, in a specific order. When I go to play it, it shuffles the playlist even though I did not hit the shuffle button. What am I missing? The shuffle is there to "shuffle" if I ask it to, so why is it doing it when I don't? Makes it hard to teach when it keeps changing the order.

The problem may not be Shuffle. iTouch changes the order of my playlists when they are put in a folder for syncing or transferring from iTunes to the iTouch - before they are ever transferred/synced. I am still trying to find out how to get it to maintain the order I set up when I created the Playlist of Songs in the first place in iTunes on my Mac. Very annoying and frustrating and that goes for the rather paltry instructions offered with this $300 device, too.

Check the general.useragent prefs on the about:config page. 
You can open the about:config page via the location bar, just like you open a website.
Filter: general.useragent
If any general.useragent prefs are bold (user set) then right-click that pref and choose Reset.

How can I get the file menu NOT to display in the title bar?

You can access about:config from Options > Advanced > General > Config Editor.

On a shared computer how do I get the userid to not be saved in the logon for mail.

When I log onto my yahoo or google mailbox - the userid is saved. I don't want that to happen as it is a shared computer. It doesn't save passwords, just the user id.

Some msg says I don't own it, but I'm the only user on the machine. I have gone into the Info screen for the file, and clicked the lock in the lower right. From what I understand the only way to officially run the macbook with the lid closed (aka clamshell mode) is to connect it to an external display...same as the powerbooks. That said, there are probably some hacks out there to modify this. I remember one for the ibook called InsomniaX.

Well I'll guess you're using iPhoto 11:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Once pictures are moved from your camera to your iPad (using the camera connection kit), how do you get the photos off of the iPad? They do not show up in my photo stream or my iCloud. I am able to see any photo I took on the iPad using the iPad camera (in iTunes, photo stream, or when I open windows explorer and browse the iPad director), however I cannot see any photos transfered from my camera to the iPad. The camera connection kit must have put my photos in a directory I cannot get to and cannot sync.

Naming the Photo - or giving it a title - is not the same as naming file.
How are you burning to dvd? With iPhoto? If so then the Title will be available in any app that understands basic metadata.
If you want the title available in the Finder - which does not understand photo metadata - then you'll need to export the file
File -> Export
In the resulting dialogue you'll see a heading for 'File Name'. Choose 'Use Title' from the drop down.

I understand that you are wanting to restore your new iPhone 6 from an iPhone 5 backup. This sounds like the iOS version of your old iPhone 5 may be newer than what was installed on your iPhone 6. Try going through the steps in the article below.

I would also check to see the backup dates in iTunes and if the backup is located on iCloud instead of iTunes.

How do I get the iMac to display thumbnails and not an icon of jpeg photos?

Hi folks,
I just purchased my first Mac, an Imac. I was browsing through a folder, using Finder, containing photos files from my latest trip.
Under Windows, I used to tell Windows Explorer to show thumbnails of the photos.
How do I get the iMac and Finder to show the thumbnails? It only wants to show a silly jpg icon which doesn't tell me much about what the photo looks like.

I have a folder of JPEG photos on my HD. This folder was created over a year ago when I was using Panther.
When I open it and select "Show View Options" I get a different window with options like "Date Created" and "Date Modified" etc.
There is no preview option or a slider to alter the icon sizes - merely a choice of large or small icons.
