How do I get the keyboard back for searching contacts?

I used to be able to type the contact name I was searching for, but that function seems to have disappeared. I just get a list of all the contacts and have to scroll throught. I'd like to have the keyboard back. Any ideas? Thanks!

Thank you! I had to look up how to power the phone off: hold the on/off button down until the choice to turn off the phone comes on the screen. Turn off the phone for a few minutes. When I restarted it, the contacts were searchable (with a keyboard) and the edit function was back again. Thanks again.

Check that you still have the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar
* Make sure that you have the "Bookmarks Toolbar" visible: "View > Toolbars"
* Check in "View > Toolbars > Customize" that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
* If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the Customize window onto the Bookmarks Toolbar
* If you do not see the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" then click the "Restore Default Set" button
You can only move the content from a toolbar onto other toolbars if all toolbars support that feature. You need to check that in the options of each toolbar.

Do you work for Apple? So what you are telling me: it doesn't matter if I payed for it once, Apple is so low tech or just could care less about its customers that I am going to have to come out of pocket again. What is the point of the 90 day technical support that Apple offers with the Lion upgrade when it is purchased if the technical support just says...sorry, we can't help you with this problem.?
I am going to have to come out of pocket for a lot more than just the iLife collection that Apple has a copy of my purchase, which validates my request, yet Apple is not going to help me out. If that is the case, this would have to be the worst customer service I have ever gotten.
You are correct that it is my fault that my apps are gone because I did the clean install and did not think to back up my app.s, but is Apple hurting that much for money that it needs to squeeze money out of people that delete software by mistake? I have gotten two app.s for free from other small time app writers to put back on this computer after the Lion upgrade just by emailing them what happened and my info.
What about the freezing problem my iMac is having after I performed the task Apple tech supt told me to, which didn't work and created a new problem. You didn't address the freezing issue. You stating what I already said and adding a snooty comment to the end of it, while not offering any real help or advice pertaining to my questions, has been a waste of my time and an inconvenience to me that was not need. I can't help with how to get back the previous tags, except to say that it happened to me also switching from a Rio Karma to and x-fi.
In media monkey, if you right-click the track on the x-fi, and click on properties, you can edit the tags from there. You can also highlight a lot of tracks in one go, and change them to have the same genre, and it won't change the settings for the other tags.

On your iPad, delete the existing account then sign back in with the new ID and password.

If you don't have a backup then the only possible solution is to go back to the store and see if they can get your old phone and create a backup of that. I know very often that Apple employees will wipe the returned iPhones clean before shipping them back to wherever they ship them.
When you say your old phone was "broken" does this mean it is dead and won't turn on?
Do you have a Time Machine backup of your computer, or a clone that might have this info on it?
Other than that I hate to say you may be out of luck. Time Machine and/or a cloning program performed regularily will inevitably save your a** in situations like this.

How do I get the music back on my iPhone after manually deleting it from the device (to get space for photos/videos)? I can sync with iTunes but it doesn't copy these songs back, even though they still appear in my iTunes library. I can click on the Music link under 'On My Device' in iTunes and the missing songs all appear to still be on the device, but they are not. I normally delete using iTunes and do not have this issue. This time I was out and needed more space to shoot photos and videos so I removed a lot of music from my phone through the Music App.

The songs I'm trying to reload on my phone are on my PC. These we had loaded into iTunes. I can remove them all from the library and then add them all back one by one I imagine. The problem I'm having is that I removed them manually from the phone, they still appear in iTunes music library yet they won't sync. I don't want to take the time to compare the phone to my library, remove from the library what's missing on the phone and then add them all back again. 64GB (mostly music) will take a while.

I still get no sound from music on iTunes or from my audible books. The phone still rings (I have sound for that) and the voice control speaks to me, and when I'm typing, the automatic text voice speaks so I can hear it but nothing else works.

Since it has always been very basic to backup your computer and all it's data, Apple provides no way for you to transfer music from your iPhone back to your computer. As you know, you can re-download all iTunes purchases, but music that you ripped yourself you'll have to just re-rip again.
You can try and find 3rd party applications that might help you. I'm sure you'll pay, however.
Let this be a very important lesson learned.

The easiest way to get back missing items? Restore your whole hard drive with all your irreplaceable things like photos in about 20 minutes from the backup clone you make on a regular basis.
