restarted my computer last night. now the itunes sidebar is all weird.
I figure this must be some sort of weird update.
how do i get the sidebar to show everything again, instead of having to drill down strangly placed weird icons?
like a 'library' sidebar drill down, that shows all movie and music and devices on the sidebar.
would like it to always show everything like in previous versions of itunes as default.

I think I figured out how to access the genius Recommended Songs sidebar. This should help those of you who, like me, use genius to find new music from the iTunes Store, instead of just to create genius playlists. It appears that you CAN access my beloved Recommended Song list from iTunes 11...only NOT from your library's Songs page, but through the Albums or Artists pages.
1. Click on a song you want to see Genius Recommendations for so the song row is highlighted.
2. Go to either the Albums or Artists page by clicking the appropriate button at the top of the library screen.
3. Click "In The Store" at the top right of the new popup screen:

You are not saying which Pages you have on the iMac but I presume you Pages 5. To add a period you use the keyboards key for a period. A Mac is not an iPad. They behave differently. Autocaps doesn't exist in Pages 5 but did in Pages 09 and Pages 08.

If you mean the Settings > General > Software Update option then that will only show when you have iOS 5+ installed, if you have iOS 4 as your tagline suggests then you can only do the update via your computer's iTunes, as described half-way down the page that you posted from.
Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. 1. iTunes won't offer cloud downloads for songs that it "thinks" are in your library, even if it "knows" the files are missing. I can sync with iTunes but it doesn't copy these songs back, even though they still appear in my iTunes library. I can click on the Music link under 'On My Device' in iTunes and the missing songs all appear to still be on the device, but they are not. I normally delete using iTunes and do not have this issue. This time I was out and needed more space to shoot photos and videos so I removed a lot of music from my phone through the Music App.

The songs I'm trying to reload on my phone are on my PC. These we had loaded into iTunes. I can remove them all from the library and then add them all back one by one I imagine. The problem I'm having is that I removed them manually from the phone, they still appear in iTunes music library yet they won't sync. I don't want to take the time to compare the phone to my library, remove from the library what's missing on the phone and then add them all back again. 64GB (mostly music) will take a while.

The Finder reports File information. The date and time of the photo are in the Photo's Exif metadata. The Finder has no awareness of this. All photos apps on any system do.

How can I get the direction handles to show up for the Position attribute?
I have CS3 and I did the formentioned test and was able to make the handles work for the scale attribute but they don't seem to show when editing the position values.
*I am in the graph editor looking at the "value graph"
*I select the keys and convert the keys to auto bezier (I also tried the ease in and out buttons)
*It changed the graph the way you might think (no longer linear) however the handles are not showing to edit further.
*I also tried using the "convert vertex tool" (part of the pen tool) and still no luck getting those handles.
*the handles only show up in the speed graph but that does me no good.

I don't have CS3 installed on any of my machines any more but your value graphs for position should look something like this:
There are no handles for position in the Graph editor. You adjust the position curve by editing the motion path in the composition window. Press the G key to bring up the pen tool, then use the modifier keys Crtl/Cmnd and Alt/Option to temporarily switch between select and convert vertex to adjust the paths. Changes will be reflected in the value graphs. You will get editable handles with scale and rotation because these are not spatial properties. Spatial properties, position, Anchor Point, all XY & Z coordinates are edited in the comp window or in the layer window after revealing the properties. IOW, you edit anchor point position paths by opening up the layer window and choosing Anchor Point from the display options.
