I have an ipod classic with a lot of music on it but the music is not on my iTunes library I would like to know how I can sync the music from my ipod to my library as every time I try to do it it says that it will remove all music from my ipod and replace it with the music in my library and I don't want to loose all my music off my ipod please help

You should be able to copy iTunes purchases to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. For music that you've bought from other sources or copied from your own CDs then have you not got a backup of them on, for example, an external drive that you can copy onto the computer ? If not then you will need to find a third-party program to copy them off - this post mentions some that were around a couple of years ago, whether they still exist and work I don't know.

Download it and find the sub-folder Music.
Right click that and export it. Then import those files into iTunes. Do note that the file names are going to be pretty wierd (Like for example LPITE.mp3 - for the song Linkin Park In the End) but it should be fine if the names are in the files. You will know when you import it into iTunes.

You'll want to copy all your music on your flash drive over to your empty iTunes library first. Once you have successfully done that, plug your Nano in and choose the Erase and Sync option as long as you are 100% positive that all the content on your Nano is now in your iTunes library.
The Erase and Sync operation will wipe all content from the iPod, associate the iPod with the new iTunes library, and then allow you to sync content back to the Nano from iTunes.

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.

Transfer the iTunes folder from your old computer to your new computer. It's in your My Music >> iTunes folder. You'll probably need an external hard drive to do this. Make sure you upgrade the old and the new computers to the latest iTunes before transferring your music to the new machines.
