How do I get the songs from iTunes to my iPod

Hello,
I have downloaded all of my CD's onto iTunes, and now I plug in the iPod into the USB and it is just flashing Do not disconnect. I connected it, and there are NO songs saved to my iPod...can anyone help me?

With the iPod connected, in iTunes go to iTunes>Preferences>iPod and in the first tab whicc is "Music", check that the iPod is set for auto update with the radio button "Automatically update all songs and playlists" checked. It is normal for the Do Not Disconnect message to stay on until update is complete which it should say in the iTunes window.
