How do I get the spinning circle to stop?

I've had this for 2 months and it has been great until this morning. I tried to turn it off and it is just stuck on the spinning shut down circle on the black background. Won't respond to anything.
Thanks for the help.

You may need to restore the device if you cannot get the spinning wheel to stop.

Before you restore - did you hold both buttons down until the Apple logo appeared on the screen? Try it again and hold down on the sleep button AND the home button at the same time - wait for a good 15 seconds or so to see if the logo appears. If it shows up on the screen - let go of the buttons. Ignore the red slider - do not slide it.

  • How do I get the spinning wheel to stop?

I updated to Mavericks several weeks ago and haven't had a bit of trouble. Yesterday, I tried doing a screen grab of a pic and it started spinning and wouldn't stop even after I shut it down. When it restarted, the ball is still there and spinning.

Back up all data immediately as your boot drive may be failing.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V).
The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Normally the command will produce no output, and the window will be empty. If the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window) has anything in it, post it — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the TextEdit window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.

how do I get the color wheel to stop spinning?

To invoke the Force Quit window, press Command-Option-Escape.
If no joy, try holding down the Control key while you press the Eject key. This is supposed to bring up this dialog:
If no joy there, you may have to resort to holding the Power-On key until the machine shuts off. This may leave un-repaired Directory damage, so it is a good idea to hold down the Shift key when you Restart. This invokes Safe Mode, which takes five minutes to run one pass of Disk Utility (Repair Disk), then starts with minimal extensions loaded. You will need your username and password to log in, even if you normally auto-login.
Poke around a little, if all looks OK, you can restart in normal mode.

  • I movie won't import video from my sony xr150.  I can see the video in the window when I connect the camera but when I select import, I get the spinning circle of doom.

my brand new mac pro wont download movies on imovie.  I connect my sony XR150 and I can see the clips in the imovie window but when I select import, I get the spinning circle of doom.  Very disappointing.  I just moved from a PC because Mac's were supposed to be much better handling media.

If Image Capture can recognize your camera and allow you to upload the stills and videos to a folder on the Desktop that's what I would do.  Then you can import those files into iPhoto, FCP or iMovie as you want.

  • AppleTV stops after about 10 minutes and I get the "spinning circle".  I have re-set the computer's power setting to NEVER shut down, but no help.

My Apple TV stops playing after about 10 minutes.  It will only work when iTunes is open, so I leave iTunes and and Home Sharing is on.  Everything is fine for about 10+ minutes, then the music stops and I get the "spinning circle".  I've set the computer's power settings to never shut down, thinking that it was stopping because the power went off, but it still stops.  People over for T-giving soon. HELP!!

  • How do I get the time clock to stop circling on an undelivered email?

I created a small movie using quick time player. I attached it to an email to send to family through Safari. The email won't go through. The time clock has been circling for 4 hours. It's slowing down my email and I can't do anything to stop it. What do I do?

It may be that you are getting lots of emails or messages?
I suggest you go into mail settings and system settings and see what your various alert noises are set as and see if any are the same as the one you're hearing. Then you can figure out whats causing it.
Alternativley you may have a stuck keyboard button? This produces a chime/ ding every time it is pressed if it cannot be used in the program ou are running or on the desktop.
I also assume you are NOT talking about the Startup Chime?

  • How do you get the Mail circle to post initials?

It was including my photo so I dragged and dropped it.  Edit doesn't give the options of replacing it with my initials.  Thanks.

When you say Mailboxes, do you mean actual folders or the overall setting up of Yahoo mail on iPad?  If overall setup then when you select Mail it should show some email suppliers, I believe Yahoo should be listed, if you select it, it should then ask for you details.
If you mean folders, if Yahoo is IMAP based if you create folders online via webmail, they should pull through to your iPad when the account has been set up.
Alternatively, if you have got mail up and running on your iPad and want a new folder, just select your account under the Accounts heading in Mail you should see a list of all the folders present, click EDIT in at the top of the screen, just to the right of where it is likely to say either Yahoo or BT and it will then give you the option to add a mailbox(FOLDER) at the bottom of the screen.
