How do I get to a drive at startup?

I have two SATA drives in my G5. Two months ago I started migration and now I want to finish. What key do you press when starting up the MAC so that I have a choice which drive to go to?

to choose one of installed system
1, go to system preferences>start p disk and choose the disk that you wish to boot.
2, keep alt/option key as soon as you startup your mac and choose the volume that you wish to boot

WIndows can't find a better one than the installed LSI Conformed 1394 Hostcontroller

Read and follow the Bootcamp Installation instructions that you were offered to view when you ran Bootcamp Assistant.
Run Bootcamp Assistant again and select the option to download the Bootcamp Support software. Follow the instructions. Then boot into Windows and install the Windows Support software you downloaded and saved.

How do I get more space on my startup disk?

Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion's Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

  • How do I get Yosemite to appear in startup disc panel?

How do I get Yosemite to appear in startup disc panel?

There is an issue with Snow Leopard that was reported to Apple, and Apple Engineers replied that it won't be fixed. When you're booted to a Snow Leopard partition, the Startup disk in System Preferences won't display properly or work properly. Selecting it for me, generally resulted in it booting to the Yosemite Recovery partition.
As previously said, I recommend using the Option key on a Restart. Afterwards, you can use the Startup in System Preferences to select the Yosemite partition.

The Hatter..This may be helpful information. I go to force suit and there is both Safari and "Safari web content not responding in red" and this may
be the problem. I delete files and I get up to 50 to 50 MB and then it goes right back down to zero with no use on my part. I made a mistake by

  • How can I get my hard drive icon back on the desktop

I just erased my hard drive on my Intel MacBook getting ready to give it to my daughter. I had the Snow Leopard install disc in the drive and used Disc Utility to erase the drive. I then installed Snow Leopard and everything went smoothly without a hitch.
Other than -- the icon for the hard drive is not on the desktop! I can open a Finder window and see everything that should be on the drive after an erase and reinstall, but the drive is not there.
How can I get it back?
    TIA
I am so sorry! This question has been answered more than once. I searched but didn't find it. When I posted this, however, the list of similar questions that pops up next to the message sent me to a simple fix and now all is well.
Again, sorry for having cluttered up the board with this question.
    Thanks.

  • How do I get my hard drive back?

    Hello,
I have a duel drive G4 and have just migrated all of my programs and files to my 2nd drive and will use this as the new start up disk. When I finished all my migration and updates I wanted to hide the old drive so it would could be accessed. I moved the icon from the desktop to a folder in the new drive. I then dragged the icon of the old drive from the desktop to the trash and got the eject message. Now when I double click on the icon that I put in the folder I get a message saying "The volume can not be found insert disk or connect to server volume." When I go to sys. preferences the old drive no longer shows up in the start up disk location. How can I get this drive back? Have I screwed this up really bad?

Do you see the drive in Disk Utility? Go Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.
If you see it in the left column, select it and click Mount at the top.
    Have you tried restarting?

  • How would I get a super drive installed?

I don't currently have my MacBook, but I did order one with a combo drive because I couldn't afford to upgrade to the 2.0 GHz version and get the super drive. So my question is, how easy is it to upgrade to a super drive on my own after I get the MacBook? Is it possible? How much would it cost?

    wantedtobeyour-
i agree with the above posts. if you really want a superdrive for its dvd capabilities, i would recommend that you loan the money from somewhere, somehow and change and upgrade your order. it would be a hassle to upgrade later on in the road. it is not as easy as upgrading the RAM or hard drive.
plus, to comment on the last post, buying an external dvd drive is not a bad idea at all. the superdrive that macbook offers is rather quite slow. you can purchase an external drive at half price, if not, fraction of the price of the superdrive upgrade in the future. and plus, the performance would be much faster.
if you are a traveler and need the dvd drive in handy at all times, you should get the macbook with the superdrive installed. if you do your dvd burning at home and not travel around so much, get an external drive.
    hope this helps

  • How can I get a printer driver for the hp psc 2410 photosmart?

When I tried toadd the printer, there was a message saying that the printer driver for the 2400 series was available, but when I tried to download it, I received an error message saying that I couldn't download it because of a network error.  My Macbook is not on a network at the moment.  How can I get the driver so I can print?

You can also install this update directly (not through app store):
    http://support.apple.com/kb/dl907
If you want us to help more, you will need to give us more detailed info. "It didn't work" leaves me wondering exactly what you've done so far.
For example, after clicking Add/+ and selecting the printer you want, have you waited for a full minute for the Mac to find the driver
    - OR -
when it starts searching for driver, have you tried going to the pull-down menu where it says "Use: Auto-select," and choosing "Select Printer Software..." to make a manual selection?

  • TCP/IP Printer installs - How do I get the proper driver settings?

I saw an older thread relating to this but I thought I would start a new one to revisit this thought.  I want to deploy my printers as TCP/IP and not rely on a shared print server.  This is in case the print server goes down, the users
will still be able to print.  How can I get my driver settings to propagate to the users?  We use HP printers with settings like Printer Status Notifications, what tray to use, pages per sheet, duplexing, etc.  We also use Zebra label printers
with custom stock sizes and tear-off values.

Don't change IP addresses. Implement a DNS alias ("PRNSRV" or whatever)
and point that to the hostname of the current production print server.
And exporting/importing can be automated throuhg PrintBRM.

  • How do I get a Bootable drive to be recognized?

I reinstalled OS 10.4 from original DVD after 10.4.9 update disaster. All went okay with the Archive and Reinstall. However, when I restart, I get the folder with the question mark and then the system boots from another internal drive with 10.3.4 installed. Disk utility shows the 10.4 drive as bootable. I am able to choose the 10.4 drive using Startup Disk. But it won't boot. I've Repaired Permissions and Repaired Disk. Any ideas?
