How do I get to the Bookmark Toolbar folder in FireFox 4.0?

On firefox 3.6, I have my favorite tabs shown on my home page. When I choose to bookmark a file I am given a choice to locate it in the Bookmark menue or Bookmark toolbar folder. How do I do this in FF4.0

Some menu entries in the main menu bar are hidden if you use the mouse and only appear if you use the keyboard to open the menu (Bug 626825).
You can see the difference if you use Alt+F to open the File menu or Alt+B to open the Bookmarks menu and compare that to what you see if you use the mouse to open the menu after you have made the menu bar visible by tapping Alt or by pressing F10.
* "Bookmark All Tabs" (Shift+Ctrl+D) no longer shows in the Bookmarks menu unless you open the Bookmarks menu via the keyboard (Alt + B).
* "Bookmark This Page" can be accessed via the right-click context menu of that browser page.
* "Bookmark All Tabs" can be accessed via the right-click context menu of a tab on the tab bar.

The color scheme on my Firefox home page was changed, and in the process of trying to get back to default, I deleated the file, edit, view, history, bookmarks, tools, help bar. I can't seem to figure out how to get it back. I am running Windows7 home on a new emachine and Firefox 3.8. Any ideas on how to get back?

  • How to set a default folder for Live Bookmarks ( instead of the bookmarks toolbar folder ) ?

When I subscribe to a RSS feed, Live Bookmarks put these in the "Bookmarks Toolbar" folder by default.
I'll like to change this default folder to another one into the bookmarks ( like the firefox : "Subcribed Feeds" folder )
    Thanks

    Hi Andrew
The short answer is that I dont think you can change the default "browse folder". It will let the end users browse whatever folders they have the permission to view. But you can solve your problem in some other ways, like:
    1) Remove any permissions regarding the root folder for the end users. In this way they will not be able to browse it through the search component. Configure permissions for all other folders you dont want end users to access.
    2) Create a range of meaningful indexes and only let the user search the indexes (with a meaningful name), not the folders. If you like, you can hide the folder search option by adding &EnableSearchFromFolder=False to the KM search parameters (search the forum for more info).
    3) Give the users access to a simple KM navigation iview with a customized layoutset that only lets the end user browse the documents repository and contains a link to the UI command "search_from_here" which will "Opens a dialog box for searching within the current folder or subfolders" (taken from the description of the ui command).

  • How do I permanently hide the Bookmarks Toolbar?

Sometime around the beginning of this month, Firefox popped up my Bookmarks Toolbar. It had been hidden ever since. I thought it was an addon that I recently installed doing this, but when I disabled all of the addons I had just installed in the past couple of days, the issue remains.
Everytime I start firefox, my bookmarks toolbar is open. I don't use it, because I customized firefox to put my bookmarks with my navigation toolbar. I right click on the bar and select to hide it, but it keeps coming back upon restart. I can avoid the problem by moving everything from the Navigation toolbar onto the Bookmarks toolbar and using the Bookmarks toolbar instead, but I can't solve the problem. I just reinstalled Firefox as I upgraded to Windows 8 (from Windows 7), and the issue persisted.
If this is supposed to be a new feature of Firefox, it's annoying.
Here are my addons in the event that it helps identify the issue:
    Adblock Plus 2.1.1
    Load Tabs Progressively 1.6.1
    NoScript 2.4.8
    QuickDrag 2.1.3.23
    Reddit Enhancement Suite 4.1.2
    Scriptish 0.1.7
    Smartest Bookmarks Bar 1.1
    Snap Links Plus 2.2.1
    Stylish 1.2.6
    YTshowRatings 1.0.4

No, that isn't a new feature in Firefox. Sounds more like something caused by an addon which changed.
This extension was updated on July 7 - could that have been when your problem started? <br />

  • How do I manually sort the bookmarks toolbar?

I cannot sort my bookmarks toolbar now. I normally manually sort but, presumably after an auto update, they are sorted alphabetically. I cannot drag and drop any more.
I have changed the settings in Library view which apparently change the settings, but they have no effect on Firefox in use.

    P.S.
My '''bookmarks toolbar''' does normally '''allow drag and drop''' of bookmarks to permanently reorder them, and it does allow that in the new profile. I have that open at present and have just checked it works. This current profile does not.

  • I downloaded firefox 8 on neww computer and accidently replaced new toolbar with the old style. How do I get bck the new toolbar?

When setting up foxfire 8 on my new computer I had the new toolbar at the top with the orange button on the top left. In the process of set up I accidentally replaced it with the former toolbar that is tiny and at the top left with file, edit view etc. I'd like to go back to the new type toolbar, but am not savvy enough to figure out how. Thanks for the help.

Right-click at the top, in the blank portion, next to your tabs and un-check the "Menu Bar". You can still access your Menu Bar by pressing the "ALT" key, if and when you need to.

  • How do I get to my bookmarks in my bookmarks toolbar that do not show because my window size does not allow them to show?

In the 3.x versions of Firefox there was an area after your last bookmark in the bookmark toolbar where you you could click and access all your bookmarks in the toolbar if the window size was not big enough to show them all.
Now in 4.o all that shows are the bookmarks in the toolbar that fit in the window size. So if I have my browser window set to 900 pixels I can only see the bookmarks in the toolbar that fit in that area and I have no way of getting access to the ones that are not showing unless I make my window bigger. But even then my window can only get so large because of my monitor size at which point I can not access any of the other sites in the bookmark toolbar.
Am I missing something or is there a glitch in the 4.0 version?

    Hi
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately there is no chevron sign after the last bookmark nor after the "Bookmarks" text that if clicked takes me to all my regular bookmarks and oddly does not even list my Bookmarks Toolbar folder. If I want to get into my bookmarks toolbar folder I have to the top menu and click "Bookmarks" next to the "History" link and then navigate to the Bookmarks Toolbar folder. Something odd is definitely going on and it's getting annoying.
Any suggestions welcome. I attached a screen shot so you can see.

  • How do I edit the name of a Bookmarks Toolbar folder?

I want to change the name of a folder in my Bookmarks Toolbar. I tried opening the 'show all bookmarks', then clicking Bookmarks Toolbar, and then clicking once on the present name with hopes it would allow me to edit it. But it didn't work.

You need to open the Bookmarks Toolbar folder in the left pane in the Library.<br />
Then you can select (highlight) that folder in the right pane and edit the name in the Details pane at the bottom of the right pane.

  • How do I get all my bookmarks on ONE LIST

You have assigned my bookmarks to at least 3 different lists e.g. unsorted , recent and at least one other. How can get them them into a single list where i can sort them alphabetically. I didn't have this problem when I used XP but with windows 7, they seem to go wherever randomly.

Clicking the star on the Navigation toolbar will bookmark the page in the "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder and the star turns blue to show that.
If the URL in the current tab is bookmarked and the star on the Navigation Toolbar is highlighted blue then click this highlighted star or use the "Bookmark
Bookmarks > "Bookmark This Page" (Ctrl+D) will bookmark the page in the Bookmarks Menu folder (you need to confirm that)
"Bookmark This Page" can be accessed via the right-click context menu in the browsing area or via the Bookmarks menu in the Firefox menu button drop down or menu bar (Alt+B)
You can move all the bookmarks in the unsorted folder and possibly the Bookmarks Toolbar folder to the Bookmarks Menu folder.
You can use the Shift key to select a range of bookmarks, so you do not need to move each bookmark separately.

  • Hello, I just reinstalled Firefox 8.0 and imported my bookmarks.html backup file but the bookmarks toolbar didnt changed with my old bookmarks. Is that a problem or I have to manually add each bookmark again?

dunno what details to tell you, everything important is written in the question. thanks.

You'll have two Bookmarks Toolbar folders now. One from the installation of Firefox (the main one) and a 2nd folder from importing a bookmarks.html file.
Locate the '''''Bookmarks Toolbar''''' folder that is under the '''Bookmarks Menu''' folder and copy or drag'n'drop those bookmarks into the '''Bookmarks Toolbar''' folder that is above the '''Bookmarks Menu''' folder.

    Thanks

Check that you still have the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar
    * Make sure that you have the "Bookmarks Toolbar" visible: "View > Toolbars"
    * Check in "View > Toolbars > Customize" that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
    * If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the Customize window onto the Bookmarks Toolbar
    * If you do not see the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" then click the "Restore Default Set" button
You can only move the content from a toolbar onto other toolbars if all toolbars support that feature. You need to check that in the options of each toolbar.

  • How do I get toolbar bookmark items to display in the bookmarks toolbar instead of in the Bookmarks menu | Bookmarks toobar submenu?

When I add bookmarks to the bookmarks toolbar, they don't appear on the bookmarks toolbar (duh...) but appear instead in the Bookmarks Toolbar submenu inside of the Bookmarks menu.
How do I get them to appear on the bookmarks toolbar itself?

You can check that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is still on the Bookmarks Toolbar.

If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key to make the menu bar appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible:
    *"View > Toolbars"
Open the Customize window to set which toolbar items to display:
    *View > Toolbars > Customize
*Firefox menu button > Options > Toolbar Layout
*Check that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
*If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette in the customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
*If missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
*If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up
