Try to update to Firefox 29 via Help > About or download and save the full Firefox installer to the desktop and start the installation with a double-click on the desktop icon.
You can find the full version of the current Firefox 29.0 release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:
It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

When you reset Firefox then a new profile is created and some personal data (bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, form data) is automatically imported and the current profile folder will be moved to the desktop to an "Old Firefox Data" folder.
Installed extensions and other customizations (toolbars, prefs) that you have made are lost and need to be redone.
It is possible to recover more data from the old profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem

When I download a file the download window opens but not files are viewable. I cannot execute a file from this window. I can open the download file using Explorer and then execute the file from there. Why are the files not viewable.

• I downloaded Firefox to my Macbook, but when I drag it to the dock and open it, I get a blank Firefox window and so can't run Firefox.

Firefox shows properly downloaded with 18.7 meg. I dragged from the download folder into the Applications folder. When I try to drag from the Apps folder to the Dock, Firefox will not stay in the dock but instead shows on the desktop. When I click on the Firefox logo on the desktop, a Firefox window appears, with no options to do anything.

I downloaded firefox again, deleted the earlier version, and now firefox is working properly.

'''''NOTE:''''' Support for the Firefox 3.6.x versions will be ending soon, possibly in April. Downgrading to Firefox 3.6.x at this point may be unwise to access just that one site.
You can install '''Firefox Portable''' version to use only on that site and use your installed current Firefox version for everything else. Firefox Portable is not produced by Mozilla (but is based on Firefox released versions) and is not supported on this site -- has its own support forum (see below). Firefox Portable installs in a separate folder on your hard drive so that it does not interfere with your currently installed Firefox version settings or personal information (bookmarks, passwords, etc.). You can also install Firefox Portable on a USB/thumb/pin/jump drive.

• I need to find the "firefox window" so as to find the SQUARE ff button

In the instructions for clearing cache, it shows a win. w/ tabs at the top and there is a square ff button at the top left....I feel really dumb, but I cannot find the window of which they mention....please help!!!

Hi ellsler13,
The [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-get-firefox-button Firefox button] is only visible if you have the menu bar turned off. If you don't have it, just go to ''Tools > Clear Recent History''
You can enable the Firefox button if you like by going to ''View > Toolbars'' and unchecking the ''Menu bar''.
Hopefully this helps!

• I accidently pressed something that enlarged the firefox window and I can't find any of my previous saved tabs or pages which were initially there with the new download

When first using the new download I could find all my old saved pages and frequently used tabs. Now the screen is only showing firefox without the tabs at the top or the firefox drop down box.

Uhhhhh... Thank GOD... Got all of my files.
Spent some time on the phone with Apple Care... who was great to deal with but actually... not as helpful as I was hoping. It was suggested that I try DiskWarrior 4 to try to recover the files. $108 later, I had no files.
More calls with Apple Care and they were pretty sure that everything was gone since once the External drive was installed, like a moron, I let TimeMachine go ahead and back up my new MacBook... so it overwrote who knows how many gig that was my entire MacBook.
I wasn't giving up so I called Maxtor, the manufacturer of the external drive itself. They suggested file recovery software from I365... which is also a Seagate company (the makers of the drive). The suggested I simply use their demo because the demo version would find the files. If it found them, I could buy the software to restore them.
It found them! Another $129 after and I was able to restore all of them back to my old PC laptop.
NOW, I just need to figure out how to get the 50gig of HD video files off of my old laptop now and into my Mac and IMovie so I can actually make some DVDs out of them!
I get that Macs and PCs are different formats but I think it is ridiculous that formatting still means basically just wiping out or at least treating massive lots of old data as if it isn't there. There's gotta be a better way to do that.

• When I try to copy my iTunes music to my music folder on my external drive it says "The operation can't be completed because the item "audio" is in use." How do I get this to go away so I can copy the files?

I have never gotten this error before. I also tried restarting my computer but it says the same thing. I had no problem copying my documents or photos. Please help!

Quit iTunes if it's running. Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the page that opens.
Select My Processes from the menu in the toolbar of the Activity Monitor window, if not already selected. Enter "iTunes" (without the quotes) in the "Filter" text field. Select and quit any process shown in the process table. Try the copy again.

• On a large monitor, the bookmarks toolbar is opening outside of the Firefox window itself - is there any way to force it to stay inside?

Recently I installed Windows 7 on my computer, along with a device called a Triplehead2Go, which spoofs the operating system into thinking that the computer has one monitor attached (when it really has three). When the Firefox window is relatively small on the desktop and with excess space to the right, the bookmarks toolbar opens to the right (and extends outside of the window). This creates a problem for me, as the monitor bezels get in the way of navigation. When the Firefox window is all the way to the right of the desktop, the bookmarks toolbar opens inside of the window (as there is not enough space to the right for it).
Is there any way to force this menu to stay within its boundaries?

The screen dimensions are "right," but I don't want it to use up any more space on-screen than is in the window.
