How do I get tunes off computer and onto ipod ?

I have just got an ipod nano for my daughter. I have successfully done I tunes, I think (it has taken all day), and I have managed to get a cd recorded onto the computer, but how do I get it onto the i-pod? The ipod just says do not disconnect (and has done for the best part of 12 hours now). I have disconnected, because I thought I had the cd on it. but it is still empty. Any ideas very, very welcome. From sad old person who really doesn't like new technology one bit!

There are different ways to load an iPod, if it is set to update automatically then the will load on without you having to do anything. If you want to be more precise about what goes on then set it to either manual update or to sync a selected playlist. In manual mode you can drag and drop what you want from the library to the iPod. Syncing selected playlists is just like syncing your whole library only on a smaller scale and more "selectively". When your iPod is is set to sync selected playlists it automatically picks up any changes you made to the playlist(s) you have set up in iTunes since you last connected. Anything you added to the playlist(s) will be added to the iPod, anything you deleted from it will be deleted from the iPod. In other words the iTunes playlist and the iPod are kept "in sync":
Loading songs onto iPod automatically - Windows
Managing content manually on iPod
iPod 101: Fill 'er Up
I suspect that since your iPod is showing the do not disconnect message that it's probably set to manual update (in automatic mode it disconnects automatically once it is finished syncing). When using an iPod in manual mode the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device. In that case use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows system tray on the desktop and check this link for alternative methods: Safely Disconnect IPod
Since you are new to using the iPod you might want to check this page out: You'll find all you need to know to get started on this page: iPod nano Fast Start: The New User's Guide to iPod nano

  • Using a camera connector how do i get pictures off computer and onto the iPad please.

I need to get pictures from a compter to my ipad. i have a camera connector kit but it does not seem to support a USB stick.. Ideas please, Thanks.

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • Get Songs Off Computer And Into iPod

Is there a way I can upload the songs on my computer into my iPod without needing them to remain on my computer? I have a 30 gig iPod and a 40 gig hard drive and this could be a problem...LOL

Switch of the sync option in itunes and manually update, i have a similar problem in that my music database is not held on my laptop (where itunes is resident) but rather an ext drive which i don't have plugged in all the time. Therefore I manually manage my music which suits me as some of the music I have I may not necessarily want on my ipod...

ATA bus error means that data corruption occurred during transmission over ATA bus (SATA or PATA). This type of errors can be indicated by

Unknown/random errors, timeouts and all sorts of weirdities.
As described above, transmission errors can cause wide variety of symptoms ranging from device ICRC error to random device lockup, and, for many cases, there is no way to tell if an error condition is due to transmission error or not; therefore, it's necessary to employ some kind of heuristic when dealing with errors and timeouts. For example, encountering repetitive ABRT errors for known supported command is likely to indicate ATA bus error.
Once it's determined that ATA bus errors have possibly occurred, lowering ATA bus transmission speed is one of actions which may alleviate the problem.
I'd also add; make sure you have good backups when ATA errors are frequent

  • How do I get tunes off of my daughters I pod (not associated with my account) - onto my account. Her old computer is dead along with that I-Tunes account

Got a new PC. Took the tunes off of my old PC - transferred to new one and opened new account. - Tossed out old PC. No nione of the tunes I bought and paid for are accessable anymore. What's worse - when I plug in my daughters I pod to add to her songs the system wants to dleate everything on her ipod...which would be fine except none of the songs on her ipod seem to be on my comoputer anymore - where the heck are the songs I paid for? If they are only on my daughters Ipod - how do I get them off of there and back onto my computer?

    You misunderstand.
If you lose a credit card, the account is not gone. You call your credit card company, report the loss, and they issue you a new card. You still have the same account; just a new card which you use to access that account.
Since your old computer is stolen/sold/thrown away/lost/not working, you can no longer use it to access your iTunes account. But that iTunes account, associated with a particular Apple ID, still exists. All you need to do is enter the account information into iTunes on your new computer.
You said you already transfered the "material" from your old computer to your new computer. So if that's already done, there's no need to transfer anything from the iPod to your new computer. All you need to do is authorize your new computer for the old media and apps, and the way you do that is by logging in to the iTunes Store within the iTunes application on that new computer using your previous Apple ID and password.
You can recover Apple ID information here if you don't remember it:

  • How do I get music off my iPad onto my new iMac?

I've got CDs on there which I'd ripped onto my old iMac but weren't purchased from iTunes.  My old iMac was burgled so I now want to sync my iPad with the replacement.  When I tried to sync it I got a message saying the contents of my iPad would be erased and replaced with the ilbrary on the computer, bu that only has the stuff I've purchased from iTunes.  I've not managed to update to iOS 5 yet as I haven't synced as I don't want to lose everything on there.
How do I get stuff off?
    Thanks

If you've authorised your iTunes account(s) on your computer's iTunes then you should be able to copy iTunes purchases via File > Transfer Purchases. For non-iTunes purchased music, if you haven't got a backup of content on external drives, CDs, DVDs etc, then you will need to see if there are any third-party programs that can copy content from your iPad to your computer

  • How can i get music off my iphone onto my new computer without the music on both having songs deleted?

I have a new computer and have put some music on it before I hooked up my iPhone. So now I have some music on my iPhone that I don't have on my computer and I don't want to 'sync' and lose some of the music on my iPhone.  So I would appreciate it if someone could help me out with getting the music off my iPhone and adding it to my new iTunes??

The syncing of music is not a true sync process - not really a sync at all. It is a transfer process. No iTunes content in your iTunes library will ever be touched or removed by syncing an iDevice.
Where is your old computer - the one with your iTunes library that was used to sync with your iPhone? Why didn't you transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer along with all other important data such as documents, photos, etc.?
If your old computer is still available, transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer per the instructions included with this link. This will prevent any iTunes content from being removed from your iPhone with the first sync with iTunes on your new computer.

  • I did not sync music properly to computer from iphone3.  have new iphone4.  how can i get music off old phone onto new one.  new phone all set up.  help

I did not sync my iphone3 music to my computer.  Thought I did it properly but did not.  New at this stuff.  Now my IT person installed and configured my new iphone4 and my music is on old phone.  Anyway to get it to new phone.  Help.:)

Set up your new phone as if it were the old one. Settings, mail, mobile me, same email same password that you used on old phone. You can still sync the old phone to iTunes library. You may have to click on picture of phone on the left & click on back up iPhone.  You'll see songs, contacts & calendar downloading in apple slot at the top. When done connect new phone. Authorize computer put in apple ID when that screen comes up & that should allow both phones to share the library. If you use the same ID the same information will be on both phones.

When I opened my Firefox it went to Crawler instead of my browser. I did not ask for the change or did I download the program.I have been told its one of yours.

hello, it might be an issue with malicious software active on your pc - this is certainly not part of firefox! please try these steps:
    # [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems|reset firefox]] (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
    # afterwards go to firefox > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
    # finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] and [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.
