How do I go back to numbers 09

I updated to the new Numbers, not realizing that it wouldn't do mail merge. Since that's an essential function for me, I want to go back to the old version. (I know I can export the file in 09 format, but I don't want to have to do that every time I add a line of data to the spreadsheet!)

If you know how to export to '09 format then why not export and then in the future always open that document in Numbers 2.3 for iWork '09 (which is still on your Mac, in a subfolder within Applications named iWork '09)? Numbers 2.3 works as well as ever. The key is to always open your mailmerge document with that version of Numbers.

I can't reproduce the problem on my machine. Here's what I started with:

And the months in the income table chosen via a pop-up (I think you said that is what you are doing, though you might be better of with the using date-time since you will have months in more than one year):
And even when I change the format to date-time it still gives the expected result:
I think the app is doing what it is supposed to here. Perhaps you can try entering your formula again and fill right and see if that gives you the result you expect.

Where were you syncing the contacts to, iCloud, the computer and Outlook, an email account? That is where you get them back from.

Numbers 3.2 has changed too much, it doesn't work with my project anymore. 1) The sheet panels used to be on the left hand side and easily reviewable and searchable, but now they are on the top and it's harder to find a specific folder without scrolling (too time consuming), 2) I used to be able to duplicate a folder within my sheet panel window by simply clicking on a folder and hitting Command D, but that doesn't work now so it looks like I'll have to spend even more time to recreate the same tables that used to be easily duplicated, and 3) I can't choose fill colors that matched my project anymore because there are only limited choices available now. And these are only the changes that I'm aware of. I am very disappointed and frustrated. Whatever the motivation was to limit Numbers 3.2, I want the previous version back. How do I revert back to the previous version I was using?

You can scroll more quickly between sheets if you don't use the left-right triangles, but instead move the cursor up into the bands with the "tabs" and drag right or left.
Also, if you have a lot if sheets for which you want a quick vertical list, then you can try the following have something like this pop up (showing your sheet names automatically) whenever you hit a keyboard shortcut (in my case shift-command-j):

I no longer have the option to Convert to Destination (Preserve Numbers) when exporting a PDF. I only have Convert to Destination or No Color Conversion. How do I get the "Preserve Numbers" option back? I have already tried quitting and relaunching InDesign and rebooting the workstation. When I try different versions of InDesign, I get the same results. When I try another computer, I have the "Preserve Numbers" option.

The 4.0.1 and 5.0 are two separate versions as installing 4.0.1 over 5.0 will just give you the old 4.0.1 as the end result.
The 5.0 is partially as a security update in place of 4.0.2.

The phone number format as well as the date language and format and the time format are controlled by the Region Format setting. Go to Settings > General >International > Region Format. When you change a region format, you can go back one page (to International) and see an example of the date/time/phone number format that your selected region format will produce.

Hi Pacha,
I don't know of a way to rotate a graph in Numbers. You can use the Preview app. First, add a backgound fill to the graph (the default graph has no fill and the background colour in Preview will show through).
With the graph selected, copy then open Preview (the app, not Print Preview in Numbers). Command n (New from Clipboard) will create a new Preview document and paste your graph.
In Preview, Menu > Tools > Rotate Left (or right). Copy and paste back into Numbers. It will be a graphic, not an active graph. So make any changes before you put it into Preview.
Or do you mean swapping the X and Y axes in a graph? The easiest way I know is to rearrange the data table before inserting a graph.

Hi Interlaga,
Enter start time in A2. Enter finish time in B2. They will become Cell > Data Format > Automatic with Date and Time (Date None).
Formula in C2
=B2−A2
That becomes Cell > Data Format >Automatic
Refinement is to use 'Date and Time' Format for start and finish, and 'Duration' format for the difference.
Remember that in Numbers, every Date has a Time attached, and every Time has a Date attached (even if they are not displayed in the cell). So if you enter the times on different days (the 'crossing midnight' problem) the finish time will be 24 hours later .
It took me a while to understand this, but a Time or a Date is an instant since 1 January 1904.

I have just update from FF4 to FF5 and normally I don't have any problems, but the robofrom extension (7.3.0) no longer works (RF version 7.2.8). How can I go back to FF4 until the extension works with FF5? Roboform is more important to me than FF5.

Oops, I forgot a step between 7 and 8 ... before syncing the iPhone I need to explicitly send the document back to iTunes on the iPhone, or the changes won't come over at all ...
and then one more thing ... Numbers on iOS does NOT recognize a number of key features of the OSX app, such as conditional formatting ... so after editing my document on iOS and syncing it back to OSX on my Mac, all of those settings are lost (no more conditional formatting, have to do it all over again)

Ok... I see your problem... when pasting into Pages, the formulas from Numbers are included. Perhaps this is really more of a Pages question (in which case I'm far from expert). A couple of ideas:
• In Pages, try "Edit"/"Paste and Match Style", which may insert tab delimited cell values (no formulas). Then, if you want the table format back, select these newly pasted tabbed values and use Page's "Format"/"Table"/"Convert Text to Table"/
• In Numbers, before copying, make a temporary table of the plain values first, then copy and paste that into Pages. To do this, select the range of cells you desire in the Numbers and "Edit"/"Copy". Then "Edit"/"Deselect All" and "Edit"/"Paste Values" and "Edit"/"Cut". Now just a table of values is on the clipboard and you can head over to Pages to paste.
