I use OSX10.9.5 and LR5. It is said by LR5 that my ext HD does not support trash. How do I have to set an external HD, so that it supports trash under LR5?

If you've partitioned it on the Mac, and it was previously partitioned for FAT32 or NTFS, you've lost whatever data was previously on the drive (or within the partition). In order to mount Mac volumes on a PC, your best bet is MacDrive 6 - http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive6/

You might have to create the account with the same name, but I don't know if it will access the user files on the TM drive or not.
Once the account is back onto the machine you can log into it and transfer files between accounts on the same machine using the Finder > Go to Computer > Macintosh HD > Users > other account > Public > DropBox and drop files/folders in there, the permissions will change to the other user and the files/folders will be there when you log into the other user account.
Next time consider bootable clones, you can access them directly and even boot directly from them, update them when your ready and make as many as you need, create clones from clones even.

Stop using the drive immediately, un plug it.
Buy a copy of ProSoft DataRescue 4 and use it to search for deleted files.

Formatting a disk always erases all the data on it. Your only option is to back it up elsewhere and restore it once formatted.

You can't write videos with iTunes. You can't even write anything with iTunes. iTunes plays media, not create it.
iTunes only uploads your library if you have subscribed to iTunes Match and then it is only viewable by yourself. It doesn't include video.
iTunes is an application that runs on your computer. It is not the iTunes Store which is something run on Apple's corporate computer's.
I think there's terminology problems here so perhaps simplify it a bit. Are you talking about something you have on the iTunes Store server? I know nothing about that but I guess it is possible people (or more likely automated computer programs automatically scanning the web) have had a look and that gets flagged as a view.

Without knowing more about your workflow its difficult to answer this as there are a number of different ways to accomplish this.
But assuming that you are asking how to do this in Aperture one way would be to set Aperture's import to store the files on your external drive.
By selecting the Store Files pulldown and then choosing Choose... you will be able to select a folder on your external drive. (note in the above screen shot the selection is actually In the Aperture Library you would click on Choose.. at the bottom of the pulldown)
This will cause Aperture to store the files in the folder you indicate and et up the masters as referenced.
But again it would be better if we had a better idea of what you are trying to acomplich and what your workflow is.

In case its just the tags that you want to have in one catalog that is easy.From multiple computers save the tags to the xml file.Copy the xml file to the external drive where the catalog resides.From there you can import the tags into the catalog.

You can only locate your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely.
If the device is wiped by you or another, you may not be able to locate the device (although some have reported they can)

HT5219 What are the external monitor requirements that can support having two windows email and safari open side by side?

I have a 27" iMac at home that supports this but would like to see if I can enable my Macbook air to do the same thing. I want to find out if this capability can be supported with my Macbook air and if so what are the monitor requirements.

Usually two causes of that, the first being the windows dpi scaling (most common cause) and the second being your graphics card driver needs to be updated.
Try playing with the windows dpi settings
Right click on your Desktop and select Screen Resolution
Then in the screen that comes up, click on Make Text or Other Items Larger or Smaller
Then move the slider under Change the Size of All Items to Smaller and restart windows 8
Also, you can try clicking on Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays, then click on Custom sizing options and drag on the rulers to set 149% and see if that is any better.

How can I have a set of tabs open at statup?

This is something that I can do with tabbed browsing in Win IE 7 but can't seem to find in Safari.
I have my home page established and it opens at startup but I would like a row of tabs to open at startup so I'm automatically in 4 or 5 of my most used pages.
Is this possible and if so where is this feature?

1) Set your system preferences to start your computer at a specific time.
2) enter a crontab entry to execute a specific shell script 1 min after startup.
3) modify the shell script to open specific web pages. (make sure your script is executable)
4) Enjoy your automated mac.
I wrote an crontab and shell script to make this work. I use it daily. This way my mac gets my favorite web pages around 6:00 am and they are open for me when I start my machine for work around 8:00 am or later.

Last thing to do is select system preferences => energy saver => schedule and tell the mac to turn on at a specific time of day. Your crontab entry should be scheduled to start about a minute after your computer starts.
Now your mac will fetch your web pages automatically!

Do I have to set each external drive as a Share Point?

Hi all,
I was wondering if I can set a Share Point that would allow acces to all external drives (sometimes they are swapped out) It looks like I have to do them individually.

Last time I tried something similar, when I tried to tell the Finder on the server to eject the external drive prior to disconnecting it, it correctly refused as the drive was considered inuse/busy. I had to unshare the drive first before it would let me eject it.
If you just yank it out there is a chance it will leave things confused and you might end up with it still thinking it is connected and it then writing to a folder in /Volumes on the boot drive thinking it is the external drive. So you should do it properly by unsharing, then ejecting the drive.

ITunes on a home network. How do you have it set up?

Anybody out there running Windows Home Server and iTunes? How are you doing it?
Here's what I'm doing so far...
I recently purchased an HP MediaSmart Server EX470. I have it all set up and connected with my three CPUs (desktop, laptop, and mediaPC). The server came with Firefly which allows music (music only) to be streamed to itunes in a shared music folder. The music shows up in iTunes under the shared label and one is able to play music from the server. But that is it. All you can do is stream the music through iTunes, nothing else. I want to be able to edit my music library through all three computers and having it set up this way doesn't let you do that. So, I tried something else.
First, I mapped the music folder on the server as a network drive and then pointed iTunes on each computer to that folder. Next, I copied the iTunes library folder (which includes the .itl and .xml files, and album artwork) to the music folder on the network. Then, I opened each iTunes on each computer, held the shift key down, and opened the iTunes library file on the network. Viola! A shared network iTunes library on three home computers, right? Here's the kicker. I can only have iTunes open on one computer at a time. Can anybody think of a work around?
I guess I could have three libraries on the server and then sync them using Sync Toy, but that seems like a little much. Anybody else out there in my same boat? I'd be extremely interested in what you have set up.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting it to work either. When I'm at work and wanting to open a data file that is being used by somebody else, I'll get a message stating it I can't open it or only do a "read only" copy. iTunes essentially does the same thing on my network. Once you open iTunes on a second computer, your edits to the .itl file won't save.

I'm really tired. My computer crashed and I had to reinstall the OS last night/today. (XP doesn't age gracefully.)
What I have is all my ripped apple lossless content in z:\iTunes. (Same as it was before the crash...) Each artist has their own folder. I run iTunes from the normal c:\Program Files\iTunes default installation location.
As I recall I allowed iTunes to "Keep iTunes Music Folder Organized". I think I had "iTunes Music Folder Location" under the Advanced tab set to "Z:\iTunes". I really don't remember what Library Name on the General tab was set to.
I haven't found the settings that will allow iTunes to find my music library. Can anyone help?
Also, I've lost all my playlists. I have a backup of my old system so I can poke around through the old Program Files directory. Maybe even the old registry. It's probably easier for me to simply make new lists, but if they are easily retrievable I'd do that...

Alright! Now I remember! I found the itl file in my z:\iTunes directory. (Right where I would want it...)
The trick is to hold down the shift key when opening iTunes from a desktop icon. iTunes will raise a dialog that allows for selection of the iTunes library. In my case I browsed to z:iTunes and selected the iTunes Library itl file. Done!
This is a non-intuitive user interface. As far as I can tell there is no other way of doing this via a configuriation or settings dialog. IMO this should be a checkbox item in the advanced settings tab where I am specifying the location of my iTunes Music Folder.
It seems to me that most users wanting to keep their music folder on a non-bootable drive would want to keep their library file(s) with their music and artwork binaries. This should be the default behaviour.
Anyway, remember the <shift> double click to start option!
