How do I hide names from the Address fields?

here's the problem.
a group of peers is exchanging emails using the Reply All function. the catch? we need to keep our names out of the Address Fields. if I enter my friend's name into Address Book, Mail insists on showing the full name in the Address Field.
is there any way to insert only the email address without the name of the recipient in the Address Fields? even when selected from the Address Book, or entered via a Group selection?
BCC is not an option. De-selecting "When sending to a group, show all member addresses" is also not an option, because I would assume that recipients will not be able to Reply All.
I tried entering an alias into the Email field in Address book: Alias <[email protected]>.
any ideas?

you can uncheck the option to auto complete addresses in Mail preferences->composing. then you can enter the addresses by hand without full names. the addresses will still show of course. or you can create double vcards for people in question in address book that have just email addresses but no names. then Mail will let you choose those.

iCal keeps deleting the level number, building name or apt number from the address field. That is really annoying and it should not do it. Does anyone know how to counter?

Anyone can see that iCal uses only those words that does not delete, in order to find it on a map. However, the trimed addresses become very useless.
Level #, Room # and Apt # are very important for the address field. Or, how can one know where to turn up, for, e.g., job interview, meetings, wedding, party, visit a friend, etc.??? In any rate, they are very commonly used and totally legit parts of addresses. If iCal wants to map it on a map, it still should not delete them. It does it because it is treating them same as the incorrect inputs (such as, spelling errors in street names or same streets exist in different suburbs or states and it wants the user to tell it which is right). This is obviously a programming error. They are two separate operations (1) to trim the input to find the match (2) to suggest the correct address. (2) should have a choice to accept the user input as is and try to find the closest match. (1) should trim the search address only behind the scene but should never trim the input itself.
Particularly, iCal events can be exported and used as invitations for meetings, events, functinos, etc. Without Level #, Room #, Apt#, etc. (that iCal delets), they become really useless. I recall that older versions did not used to delete them and I was really using those details to get to places. Of course, at that time, the address field did not have a function to try to match the address with one on a map.
As JayBut707 mentions, in addition, it is a mistake that it deletes a part of a legit postal code.

In Mail go to the Window Menu and select Previous Recipients. Deleting entries from there won't delete them from your Address Book.

On the MBpro, click on the card to delete or mark several in a row by holding Shift down/up arrow. Then hit the delete key on the keyboard.

How do you bcc groups from the address book in MAC OS X?

I am tryign to do a group email from the address book in MAC OS X, everytime I highlight and drag the contacts to my email they don't attached. The only way it appears to work is when I email group but this goes into the TO field.
Any ideas in what I can do?

Mea culpa. Yes, the Cc/Bcc disclosure button IS to the left. I mis-typed that. (stupid keyboard!)
I'm at a loss as to why this is not working for you.
I will tell you the versions of the players involoved that I am using are:
• OS X 10.8.1
• Mail 6.0
• Contacts (Address Book) 7.0
And while I realize that you are running OS X 10.7.4, the process has been similar for some time now.
I would run Software Update and make sure that my System, Mail and Address Book apps are all up to date. That is NOT to say you should upgrade to Mt. Lion, just ensure that there are no outstanding updates available for your current setup.
Then run Disk Utility and perform the Repair Permissions routine on your startup disk. When that process is finished, reboot your machine and run the Mail app again.
It would be nice if it's just a permissions issue or can be fixed with a software update. Let us know if any of this helps.

That's not possible. It's a plain text field containing email addresses and cannot be styled.

I stopped in the apple store today and stumped the genius bar !!!!!!
I am so proud.
I want to know how to remove e-mail address's that pop up when you hit a alpha key.
These are address's that are NOT in my address book or anywhere on my computer.
They would be a one time e-mail that I sent over the last 3 years or so.
I do not retain old e-mails either which would trigger keeping the address alive.

In Mail, you can also select a popped-up name that you don't want to retain, click the triangle that appears when you move your cursor to the area just after your name, and select "Remove from Previous Recipients List" from the dropdown menu. This choice will not appear if the name is in your Address Book.

Mail doesn't show names from the Address Book

When receiving emails from people who appear in my Address Book - the "From" field still shows default names set by the senders, instead of showing the names as they appear in my Address Book.
When composing a new email though - Mail does recognize the names

No, there is no way to do this. The "From:" field will always be exactly what is specified by the account of the person sending you the email, even if you don't have it that way in Address Book. That is perfectly normal and is valid for every email client I've ever used.
The only reason you see the name you have in Address Book when sending an email is because you sent email to that person before, so it's drawing that information from the Previous Recipient list.

Wrong name in the address field of mail???

I am using a new Macbook Pro and having an issue. There are a few emails in my in box that have a persons name in the sender column (lets say Jane) but, when you open the email to read it you see the email was actually sent from another person (say Wendy). I have never encountered this before and have even checked my address book for any weird or errant info on the perspective persons address card. Has anyone else seen this before and how do you fix this????

the mail was a ligit mail and not spam, sent by someone you know and who was in your addressbook using exactly the email address as recorded there?
Can you see both names in the Previous Recipients's list?

How to reasd user name from the request

My application is hosted on tomcat 5.5 and it is front ended by apache http server where the web agent 3.0 is installed. opensso application is installed on a different host on tomcat 6.0. I have configured external ldap for user application authentication and DS store is used for opensso application login.
If I try to access and protected resource of my portal application, I am getting redirected to opensso's log in page. If I provide improper credentials, authentication fails. And if I give valid credentials it looks like opensso is authenticating the user, but I am not getting redirected to our portal application main page.
Instead it is taking us to login page of portal application.
The portal application is expecting HTTP_REMOTE_USER header to be set in the respone. When I checked the header using Mozilla Live headers, I didn't find HTTP_REMOTE_USER header. Where does the user name information get stored? It looks like com.sun.identity.agents.config.userid.param is the configuration parameter for specifying the desired header name for storing user id. How to change it?

To give an update on the question, I tried printing all the headers in a sample jsp page that is protected. The sample jsp page is not protected in the portal but I marked that as protected in the opensso. If I try to access this sample jsp I am being redirect opensso login page. I supplied proper credentials and web agent redirected me to the sample login page. I don't see any headers for user id there. I also printed request.getRemoteUser() which is printed as null.
Can someone please tell me how do I get the user id?
