How do I import a CD in itunes 12?

I cant't figure out how to import a CD in itunes 12?  I read online that you open itunes, then put in the CD, but when I do nothing pops up asking me to import it.  How do I get it to import if the import window doesn't pop up when a CD is inserted?

Open Edit > Preferences
Choose Advanced
Select Reset Warnings
When Warning Appears Allow iTunes As Default Player
Keep All Settings
Save
This worked for me...

  • TA47831 How can I import a playlist to iTunes?

An old article (http://support.apple.com/kb/TA47831) explained how to export an iTunes playlist to an .m3u file and reimport it.  This functionality no longer works with the newer version of iTunes (I'm running iTunes 10.6 on Windows 7).  This is presumably why the article has been retired and is no longer supported by Apple.
If I export a playlist, change its name, then reimport the result is an empty playlist.  Here is an example of one of the lines from the .m3u file:
    #EXTINF:196,My Happiness - Ella Fitzgerald
    \\NEF\music\Ella Fitzgerald - 50 Classic Hits (disc 2)\Ella Fitzgerald - My Happiness.mp3
As you can see my file is an mp3 on a remote server ("nef") and works perfectly well in the "Music" section of iTunes.
What I really want to do is to import some playlists that have been generated elsewhere (for example using a script to identify all the US hits of the 1980s with the word "power" somewhere in the lyrics).  I figured the easiest way to do that would be to work out what format of playlist iTunes would be able to import and generate one of those, I was somewhat surprised to discover that iTunes can't even import a playlist it has just exported.
How can I import a playlist to iTunes?

    Hi Steve,
I was wondering this myself and a quick Google found your post here along with an Apple support article published three weeks ago. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH1744?viewlocale=en_US
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,

  • How can I import files FLAC in iTunes?

    Hello to everybody.
I would like to import files .FLAC in iTunes and then in my iPod. How can I do it? I see that iTunes doesn't support this kind of files.
    Can you help me?
    Thank you very much
    Stéfano - Firenze - Italy

    Stefano,
No.  That is frequently asked, but in fact, iTunes has never supported FLAC.
Over the years, there have been a few attempts to enable iTunes to play FLAC by means of plug-ins, such as those from Xiph.  However, they (1) are not reliable or well-supported, and (2) allow iTunes playback but do not allow iPod syncing.  So don't waste your time.
If you have FLAC files, you need to convert them to an audio format that iTunes can play, such as Apple Lossless or MP3.  Add the converted files to your iTunes library, but keep the FLAC originals on hand for when you are using a more capable player.

  • How can I import .wma files into iTunes???

I have a GPX MP3 player and most of my files are .wma format. When I tried to import or open these files in iTunes, nothing happened. I'm wondering how I can import the .wma files or convert them so I can listen/import them into my library. Thanks.

You can do it on iTunes Windows or get a converter such as EasyWMA - www.easywma.com.

  • How do I import audio files from itunes to my project?

I know this could be very easy, I've imported music files from disc to projects before, but they keep going off line. So I want to find out an easier/better process to import music files from itunes into my FCP projects.
    G5: 1G,   Mac OS X (10.4)

#5 Imported music from CD or iTunes
    Shane's Stock Answer #5:
To get music into FCP, it needs to be an AIFF file at 48khz, 16 bit stereo. So if you want a song from a CD, you go into the iTunes Preferences and set this up under the IMPORTING tab:
File > preferences > importing > import using - AIFF encoder > Setting - Custom
    Sample Rate - 48.000 kHz
    Sample size - 16 bit
    Channels - Stereo
If you have an mp3 that you want to use, then you can convert it thru iTunes as well.
If the piece of music you want to use is something you purchased thru iTunes, I'm afraid I can't help you there. There are copywrite issues that prevent files from being converted into the format that FCP can recognize.

  • I made a playlist on my iPhone, How to I import that playlist into iTunes

I created a playlist on my iPhone. Now I want to import that playlist to iTunes. It's not automatically synced. Not to mention, when I export the playlist (right click, select export) and then drag that playlist into my iTunes playlist list it's blank... I need help. This should be eaiser than this.

I was having the same problem and after some research online I found this and it worked:
    1. Plug your iPhone into iTunes.
    2. Right- or ctrl-click on the name of the iPhone playlist you want
    3. Select Export...
    4. Change the format to XML and save
    5. In iTunes go to the menu File>Library>Import Playlist...
    6. Find the playlist you'd just saved and... bingo.
If you've changed any of the info on any tracks in your library since creating that original playlist it may have difficulty finding a few of them. If so it will let you know, but you'll get everything else. Good luck!
    Hope it works with you.

  • How can I import .avi file into iTunes?

I have a bunch of videos, that I can not live with out. They are al in .AVI form. How can I get these into iTunes for watching? Do I need to use Quicktime Pro?

You use MPEG Streamclip to convert them to MPEG-4 and import those. This may require Perian or not be possible.

  • How do I import  DVD on to iTunes with my iMac?

I am trying to import a DVD in to my iTunes but i have no idea how to, help would be greatle appreciated.

We need more information, what type of DVD? If it's a commercial DVD (as in a movie) then that's considered illegal and per the Terms of Use we all agreed to we can't discuss this on this forum. If it is a commercial DVD please Google it where you can find lots of info.

  • How do I import MP3 files to itunes and then downloand them to iPOD Video

I have just recently acquired a 60Gb ipod video and I have folder with the name of artist with MP3 format music files on my hard drive. How do I copy them to itunes and the ipod in MP3 format and if they need to be converted into another format to itunes and the the ipod, please advise me how I convert them. My email address is [email protected] for sending copies of your reply to this posting. Many thanks

    mondrayuk,
    - Open iTunes
    - File=>Add Folder
    - Browse to the location of the MP3 folder
    - Click OK
Depending on how you prefer iTunes to manage your Library, wither the files will be copied to the default iTunes music folder and a reference will be created within iTunes,
    -OR-
Just a reference will be created within iTunes to the current location of the MP3 files without a copy made in the iTunes folder.
iTunes and the iPod can play MP3 music files. No conversion is required.

  • How do you import a movie into itunes

I have a 4Gb avi film on my desktop and I would like to import it into Itunes. I go to "add to library" but unfotunately it does not seem to do it. Any answers?

iTunes doesn't play AVI (AVI is really an outdated Windows format). If you are lucky and the codecs used are ones supported by iTunes you can try re-wrapping it as .mp4 with MpegStreamclip, but you'll have to be very lucky since AVI can contain all kinds of unsupported codecs.

  • How do I import multiple playlists into iTunes?

I have a folder on my PC named "Music" inside this folder are 5,372 sub-folders each containing the songs from specific albums, and an m3u file representing the playlist for that album. I have just started using iTunes. I have imported the music from the "Music" folder, but the playlists haven't been transfered. I have attempted to import them, but it seems that I must do it one at a time? I have tried to drag and drop them all at one, but this creates on playlist file that contains all songs, rather than the 5,372 individual playlists that I desire. Is there anyway to import all of these playlists at one time, or is iTunes a big waste of time requiring my to import 5,372 individual files?

I use OSX and iTunes and have the same approach as Scarecrow. I have about 1170 Albums/CD's which have been copied at various times over the years into my Music Library file - with each Album/CD being a subfolder. Multi-CD releases are all in one subfolder. Many CD's were not copied using iTunes and as I no longer have those old CD's - I cannot recopy them. Importing them into Music makes a real mess with many subfolders now in Music as individual non-grouped songs. So, it is easier and neater for me to make each album or CD it's own playlist. It is also then very easy to access my library via my Roku Soundbridge and copies neatly into my iPod and iPhone. It would be a real plus to have a 'bulk-copy' methodology into Playlists or Music that keet all of these items 'together'. Dragging 1170+ items took a long time! If anyone has any specific approach or recommendation I would be most interested in learning it. Thanks.

  • How do I import a CD into iTunes without a break between tracks?

I am looking to import cd's that do not have breaks between songs. Most electronica cd's are like this, but a live concert would be the same. When I pop a cd in my computer and import it into iTunes it turns it into individual tracks, with an abrupt break between songs instead of the continuous flow that the cd has. Does anyone know if there is a solution to this? App?

iTunes should be able to manage gapless playback of this kind of album. Mileage may vary, but it may help to clear (if set) and then set the Part of Gapless Album flag from the Options tab of Get Info. when the whole album is selected.
If you really want to rip the CD as a single track, select the tracks and then use Advanced > Join CD Tracks before importing the CD.
