How do I import a large iPhoto library into an existing iPhoto library?

I have a Pictures folder on my desktop (recovered from another machine). The total size of the iPhoto library I am trying to import is 23.7 GB. It is from a graphics environment.
When I select 'Import Library', and then select the iPhoto Library folder as the source, it sits at the "preparing to import" screen for a long period of time. It has lasted an hour. I am letting it run all night this time to see if it works.
I would appreciate any tips or help you can give in case this didn't.

You're probably running into file permissions issues. The photos 'belong' to the old machine. To fix this Download BatchMod from
http://macchampion.com/arbysoft/
And apply it to the iPhoto Library Folder using the settings found here:
http://homepage.mac.com/toad.hall/.Pictures/Forum/BatChmod.png
(Credit to Old Toad for this one).
Note: If you import the entire contents of the iPhoto Library Folder then you will get The Original Pics, plus the modified versions plus the thumbnails, a mess of duplication.
The best way of doing it is to
a: Go into the Originals Folder and drag the photos from there into your iPhoto Window, one at a time. This will import the pics into your current iPhoto Library Folder. However, you will lose titles and keywords and rating etc., but you will maintain the roll structure.
b. If the keywords etc are important to you, then Merge the libraries. To do this, you'll need iPhoto Library Manager. http://homepage.mac.com/bwebster/iphotolibrarymanager.html

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" as you already know will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

To make a long story short, the Kindle Plugin has a long-standing problem with tables and/or more than a certain limit of hyperlinks. Since these problems have persisted for at least 2 years now, I must conclude that there are organizational problems on the Kindle Plugin project. Hi. I need to transfer iPhoto (the whole library - created folders and the events the way they been downloaded from camera) from Imac iPphoto to an existing MacBook iPhoto library. I did find in here how to transfer the entire library to the new computer, but when the new comp doesn't have any photos in it yet… to do so >>> copy iPhoto Icon > paste into HD > then copy and paste in to HD on new macbook…. But how can I do it so i don't overwrite that existing library? Thanks heaps for answer. PS. would you call it "merging the libraries"?

You can not do anything with a Time Machine backup - you must use TM to restore it to disk first - you can not directly access your iPhoto library on the TM backup

How many did you trash at one go? iPhoto will baulk and possibly corrupt if you try trash too many at one go. Expereinced users recommend getting rid of them in batches of about 100 or so.
What's your plan for the remaining images in the iPhoto Library (the 2k photos and 4 videos)?

Here is one way to do it, although you will see there could be variations.
1) Open iMovie
2) Start a new project - name it Stills for iPhoto (or a name of your choice)
3) Go to your EVENT. Find the spot with the cursor that you want a photo of. Right-click (or control-click if you don't have a mouse) and select ADD STILL FRAME TO PROJECT.
4) The photo should be in the Project called Stills for iPhoto.
5) Right-click (control-click) on the photo and select REVEAL IN FINDER.
6)When the finder window opens, right-click and select COPY. Go to your Desktop or a folder of your choice and right-click PASTE
7) Drag the photo from your Desktop to iPhoto

Itunes will only accept mp4 or m4v files. If the file is not this format either rerip it and convert to m4v or mp4 depending on your conversion software. You will also need to tag it explicitly as a movie so it ends up in the right place.
Personally I use Subler for that as it enables me to set The HD setting that shows up in itunes

How do I import Map Info Tab files into Spatial for a map of europe via FME and have oracle spatial draw the map without problems?
So far I've got to the stage where I can import the data, spatially index it (in oracle 9i) and get my SVG (scaleable vector graphics) application to view the map.
The problem is that countries that have more than one polygon (more than one row in the database) do not draw properly.
When I view the Map Info tab file in the FME viewer I can see that the data is fine, but I can also see that some of the polygons used to draw a country are donugts and some aren't.
This seems to cause a problem when I import the data into oracle spatial as I don't know if a row in the table needs to be inserted as an independent SDO_GEOMETRY or if it should form part of a larger SDO_GEOMETRY (as in 2 or more rows make up the polygon shape for a country).
I have a feeling that I'm not using FME correctly, because at the moment I have to import the tab file into Oracle then re-insert the data into a spatially formatted table (one with a spatial index) - I get the impression that FME should do that for me but as I'm new to this I don't really know.

MapInfo has a free utility called EasyLoader that allows you to upload a table directly to Oracle. EasyLoader creates the geometries and spatial index. You can download it free from http://www.mapinfo.com/products/download.cfm?ProductID=1044

Developed a DBase application for a vertical market using MS Access. Worked on it for over a decade.
Have been in contact with a rather large company and we are talking about licensing my program with them.
BUT; they want it "On the Cloud"
Here is what needs to be accomplished. Ideally a user can log in from anywhere, (similar to on-line banking), enter data and print reports.
Read this a few days ago:
"If I were in your situation and felt that there's a growth market for your offerings, I would personally go with a PHP/MySQL-based model. The printing issue can be readily resolved with PDF-based output.
So the Querys, Forms and VBA Code needs to be brought in from MS Access to Dreamweaver.
Can this be done? Or is there a better way that I haven't learned yet?
Would someone be so kind and point me in the correct direction.

No, not any way that I know of. You would need to completely rewrite this as a web application. Obviously the MS Access tables can be migrated to MySQL and the Access queries converted to views. But the forms and custom code needs to be written from scratch in html and your choice of server side programming language.

Locate the .caf file you want to use in FCP in the Finder. Normally, iLife sound files will be in Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/iLife Sound Effects/(subfolder).
Open the file on SoundTrack Pro, the go to File->Save a Copy As. In the Save As window that will open, navigate to where you want to save the file, then near the bottom of that window, use the drop-down File Format menu to choose AIFF. Set the bit depth to 16-Bit Integer and the Sampling Rate to 48000 hz.
Import the resulting AIFF file into your FCP project.

I meant by "not compatible" that all the solutions that I found on the web did not work, especially the "Microsoft exchange" one.
Fortunately I found on the comments of the first website you mentioned the right answer for me, which I copy below:
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > Other > Add CardDav Account.
Enter the following information in the fields:
Server: google.com
User Name: Enter your full Google email address
Password: Your Google account password
Select Next at the top of the screen to complete the setup.
After you have completed the setup, open the Contacts app on your device. Syncing should begin automatically.
Additional Information
Note: Make sure that SSL is enabled (under Advanced settings), and that the port is 443.
If you are using application based special password go to https://accounts.google.com/Se... and instead of your password put that special code and u r done.

Unfortunately I need more help if you or someone else can provide it. I followed all the steps you have instructed so far in the threads I have seen. Unfortunately nothing so far works for me. Maybe you or someone can help me, I'd really appreciate it. I tried the notepad++ method and when I click on save I always get a notepad file that my iTunes can't do anything with. I click the "convert to UTF-8 without BOM" then click save as and it still saves as a notepad file. I am also unable to find the \n\ file path to replace with my \C:\ filepath. Here is a copy of the first part of one of my playlists:
