How do I import a pdf in a blog?

I tried dragging a pdf in my blog for people to download, but instead of putting the file on, it drags the first page of the pdf. is there anyway to put just the file on the blog for them to download (like an attachment)
thanks

Write some text, open the inspector and enable it as a link, choose link to: A file and select the pdf file. Save and a copy of the pdf will be stored in the Domain file where iWeb stores its data. Publish and it will be uploaded. When people click the link the pdf opens in the browser. Unless they hit ctrl+click and choose to download it.
If you want the download to start automatically save it as a zip file. Select the pdf go to File and choose Compress "..." and link to it from iWeb as previously described.

Cédric

There is no such thing. You will have to convert your PDF to an image or extract the text using Acrobat's export features.

  • How do I import a .PDF into inDesign?

How do I import a .PDF into inDesign? Does anybody know how? I need to edit a book in inDesign that is a .PDF. So if anyone know how to do that please tell me.

Bob, Peter, grmg, many thanks for your very helpful comments.  Delighted mac/pc not relevant.  Will scratch that from list of herrings to chase.
Re PDFs - actually, I'm working in Acrobat (not just a finalized PDF), and Acrobat does of course allow editing of a sort; I'd concluded that since Adobe is willing to tolerate that degree of editing with its product, it should therefore tolerate moving its native format (*.pdf) into another of its own native formats (*.indd). I see that's a misconception.
This morning I tried all flavors I could find of getting my Acrobatted content into ID3, including copy/paste, place, and import (from the ID side); none was satisfactory.  Output from Acrobat to Word and then placing Word was fine for English but destroyed the Greek - not just wrong font, but complete gobbledygook and loss of all diacriticals.  Names of fonts don't matter for my purposes; the legibility of the English, and the legibility and tonic accuracy of the Greek do matter. Author of this project is not tech-savvy and is using old Greek system as well; nothing he or i can do to fix that.
Current plan is to request author to provide me his native files, which will be Mac files.  Am I understanding the Import dialog and your collecitve comments to suggest that with that file resident on my PC (and unopened), I can use the Place dialog, with "Show Options" selected, to get the Mac file into ID?
Chapeaux to those of you with constructive comments - hugely appreciated.

You can link to a webpage or an email in Numbers-- that's it.
The best way I found to do this is to enable websharing on your machine (see this article if you are running 10.8: http://lowendmac.com/crews/12lc/web-sharing-mountain-lion.html)
You can then place your pdf files in the folder /Users/<your user name>/Sites/<somefolder>
Then link to this using the url  "<your machine name>.local/~<your user name>/<somefolder>/<pdf Name>
My machines name is "Proton" (you can get this from the System Preferences > Sharing pane)
    My user name is "wayne"
so I stored a pdf file (DM00027543.pdf) in the folder "/User/wayne/Sites/PDFTest"
and stored the URL "http://proton.local/~wayne/PDFTest/DM00027543.pdf" in the "URL" field of the Hyperlink inspector

  • How can I import multiple PDF pages into ID?

I am putting together a catalog which consists of over 400 pages. We had the products on our website exported into a PDF format and I need to add a header and footer to each page via a master page in ID. I don't need to edit the actual PDF but I need to create a layer on top of what was exported. How can I import the 400 pages to be independent of each other without manually placing them?

Depending upon what you want in the header or footer, you do it in
    Acrobat...Document>Header and Footer>Add.
There's a multipage PDF place script that ships with ID...open the
scripts panel and it should be there.

  • How do I import a pdf file with layers into Motion 5?

In earlier version of Motion, you could import a pdf file with all layers or even select layers you wanted to import. You did this by dragging the pdf file into the project and holding it until a popup appeard providing you choices for how you wanted to complete the import. In Motion 5.0.1 however, no such popup appears and it imports the file as a flat image file. Any ideas how to change this pelase?
    Thanks
    Greg

Thanks Ben & Praveen. In FCP7 It was possible to import PDF files and as you did the import, make choices regarding layers you wished to import. FCPX appears to import PDFs but only as flattened files. I'll try keeping the file in PSD format and importing as you recommend.

  • How do I import a pdf document into Pages?

How do I import or convert a PDF document into an iMac Pages document?

Drag and drop.....Open the Pages document, navigate to the .pdf in Finder, grab the .pdf and drop it into the Pages doc. Couldn't be easier. Very simple in a single page document in a multi page .pdf it might be easier to use Automator to grab the individual pages.
If you want to make the .pdf editable then you will need to get a license of Adobe Acrobat.

  • How can I import a .pdf from CorelDRAW into photoshop?

    Hey,
I have a client who is sharing a CorelDRAW file with me, but I can't find a way to import it into Photoshop. I know Corel is for Vectors, and Photoshop is now, but I thought the .pdf format would be compatible... I managed to import one pdf, but the colours were very distorted. A larger file just wouldn't open at all.
Any help? I only have Photoshop, not Illustrator.
    Thanks,
    Alex

If you had Illustrator you could take advantage of smart objects.
Has been awhile since I worked in Corel (so do not remeber if Corel had clipboard settings whcih need adjusuting), but do remember copying a path, getting that into Phothshop as shape layer for part of the artowrk in a trade show poster.

  • How do I import a PDF with typewriter objects?

I have a saved .pdf with text created by the typewriter tool. When I import the .pdf in InDesign (I'm using CS4), the typewriter text disappears in the InDesign document. I cannot find any preferences or settings in either Acrobat or InDesign that solves this problem. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Text that is typed into a PDF file via the Typewriter Tool (anyone remember what a “typewriter” is?) is treated as an annotation just as cross-outs and highlights applied to existing text are.
InDesign (and Illustrator) only import the base PDF document, not annotations.
What you need to do is to flatten the annotations into the base document. This may be accomplished via executing a one line JavaScript will flatten all annotations / comments within a PDF file into the base document. This line of JavaScript is:
           this.flattenPages();
This is documented in the JavaScript API Reference that is part of the Acrobat X SDK, freely downloadable from Adobe's web site.
This function is more fully documented in the PDF file I've attached to this posting.
After this process, the resultant PDF file will fully place within your InDesign (or Illustrator) document!
Adobe most strongly recommends that you not “refry” a PDF file by printing to the Adobe PDF printer to get a new PDF file. Printing from Acrobat is optimized for printing, not PDF creation.

  • How do I import a PDF file into an After Effects project?

I'm working on a documentary in which I need to display various pages from some PDF files.  When I import the files, it only gives me the first page.  Is there a way to import more than the first page?  Thanks.

You've got a couple of options that will keep the files as PDF's. First, in Acrobat Pro extract pages using the extract each page to separate files option. Second, In Illustrator, Open the pages you want from the open dialogue and save each as a separate file. You can do the same in Photoshop, but you will end up rasterizing the PDF's. Using Acrobat Pro would be the easiest and fastest.
If you don't have Acrobat Pro, and have not downloaded the demo then you've got a few days to complete your project. The only thing that would foul this up would be protected or locked PDF's.
There's one other thing you should be aware of. Most of the time PDF documents are not designed with video in mind. There may be lots of lines and type that's just too small (1 pixel) to successfully end up on a DVD. You're in a little better shape if you're output is destined only for HD, but beware if you're going for SD TV via DVD.
