How do I import .flv files to Adobe Premiere 12?

How do I import .flv files to Adobe Premiere 12?
thanks,

XTimeTravelers
If the details are as stated in your latest post, there are no inconsistencies here between us. Misunderstandings, probably.
Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11 are standalone programs. Each comes with the same (but its own) Elements Organizer 11 and each with its own Editor section. When a given version (Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12 for example) is on the same computer, that version shares the same Elements Organizer catalog. All that being said....
All you are saying is that you can import a .flv file into the Elements Organizer 11 that came with Photoshop Elements 11.
a. Photoshop Elements 11 is a photo editor and will not support video (flv or otherwise). We agree on that.
b. Elements Organizer 11 that comes with Photoshop Elements 11 does support the import of .flv files there for organizational purposes. And, you should be able to playback the .flv file in the Elements Organizer 11 (you may need VLC player, not sure on that requirement...but it is possible). You can do the same for Elements Organizer 12.
All we are saying is the you cannot import a .flv file into the Premiere Elements Editor, be it for Premiere Elements Editor 11 or 12. And, you have not said that you have. All you are talking about is your experiences in the Elements Organizer 11 which should be the same for the Elements Organizer 12.
So, we are in agreement on everything.
Summary:
You cannot import a .flv file into the Photoshop Elements Editor (any version) because it is a photo editor. You never claimed you did.
You cannot import a .flv file into the Premiere Elements Editor (any version) even though it is a video editor. This particular video editor (11 or 12) does not support .flv.
The Elements Organizer of these programs is another story where it is possible to import the .flv for organizational purposes and even playback.
Does that make it all come together for you?
Please review the above and then let me know if I am out of sync on what you wrote and how I have interpreted it.
Thanks.

  • How do I edit rd3 files in Adobe Premiere Cs5 if I cannot afford to upgrade?

I'm trying to edit Rd3 files in Adobe Premiere pro cs5 I cannot afford to upgrade at this moment. What are the alternatives? Should I export from Redcine X? If so what are the settings that I should follow to edit in cs5? I would be editing at 1080.

It depends; you really need to list your hardware since CS5 speed for various formats is impacted by cpu, gpu, RAM, and drives.
If you final result will only be 1080, then you can certainly downsample up front to ease the work your PC has to do. OTOH, if you ever want to export with the full glory that Rd3 files are capable, editing the Rds files natively is probably the best workflow.
Have you tried changing the playback window resolution way down?

  • Trouble Importing MOV files in adobe premiere pro cs3

    Hi,
I just bought a Canon 60D camera and I am using adobe premiere pro cs3 for the first time.
I tried to import MOV file footages made by my Canon 60D, but it says that my files are not supported.
I don't know what to do!
    Can someone help me?
    Thank you.

    Hi All,
Let me tell you how I solved the XDV9 codec trouble on my Windows 7 system. The solution is rather stunning because I am using completely free software. First download the Shark007 codec pack for your system here: http://shark007.net/forum/Thread-Setup-and-usage . Please be aware that the codec pack installer comes with a toolbar install option so make sure you de-select this option during the installation process. After installation check the MOV tab on the "Settings Application" program. Make sure "use LAV's splitter" is selected for MOV Playback.
Now comes the crazy part... To convert the XDV9 MOV video clips just download Windows Essentials Movie Maker for Windows 7. At this moment more info about this program can be found here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/movie-maker-get-started . Again, make sure to set the right settings during installation otherwise you will be installing a lot of possible unwanted crap like Windows Live Mail, Windows Skydrive etc.
Movie Maker has quite good settings for converting (High Definition or custom settings are supported). Select your clip, or select multiple clips to create an unedited full length clip of all your clips, and then select "create movie". I used the "use recomended settings for this project" settings as it matches the source file resolution and frame rates etc. It is quite some work to convert clips like this but its the only free solution I could find so far.
    Good luck!

  • Importing AVI files from Adobe Premiere into Final Cut Pro 5

I am editing a video for someone who captured the footage on a PC with Adobe Premiere, and he gave me a hard drive with the AVI files. Is there any way I can import them or convert them to import in Final Cut Pro 5?
If not, would settings should he use when he exports the captured footage so that I can use it?

    Hello there,
you can use QuickTime Player to convert the files. You need QuickTime Pro for export functionality, though.
    Step by step as follows:
    1. Open the AVI file in QT Player, select "File > Export".
    2. In the "Export:" pulldown select "Movie to QuickTime Movie".
    3. Select "Default settings" in the "Use:" pulldown.
    4. Click "Options" right to the first pulldown menu.
    5. Click "Settings" in the "Video" pane.
    6. Set Compression type to "DV/DVCPRO - NTSC".
    7. Set other options (interlaced/progressive) as needed.
    8. Click "OK".
    9. Set audio options in the "Sound" pane using the "Settings" button. (I don't have an AVI w/ sound here, so please see FCPs DV-NTSC Easy setup for approriate audio settings).
    10. Click "OK".
    11. Optionally: name the file.
    12. Click "Save".
For the remaining files, use the "Most recent settings" option in the "Use:" pulldown of the export dialog.
Unfortunately, while QT Player can export multiple files simultaneously, it has no batch capabilities, so you have to open and export each file by hand.
Also, I'm not sure if QuickTime recompresses the files or just changes the container (even if the codec is the same).
Other than that I always recommend Flip4Mac's Episode for this kinda work. This app even has a conversion preset for this. Also Episode allows for changing the container format (AVI -> QuickTime) without recompressing the frames.
    Hop this helps, Oliver

  • Importing video files into Adobe Premiere Pro CS3

I own a Sony Handycam DCR-SX63.  When I import the movies I have taken onto my PC (Vista) they are .MPG files.  When I import these files into Premiere Pro CS3 the video portion imports but the audio of that file does not.  I have read all I can find and nothing seems to answer my question directly.  I tried an encoder to see if maybe Premiere doesn't accept .MPG files.  I converted it to .AVI file and tried to import and that gave me audio with no video.  I tried opening the new project with a dozen different settings offered up by Premiere but every one I tried gave me the same outcome when I tried to import my video file.
Please. please. please help.  I am pulling my hair out.
    I appreciate any help given.

  • Importing mp4 files into Adobe Premiere Elements 4

    Hi
I'm using Adobe Premiere Elements 4 here and am having problems when importing mp4 files. They jump and skip, Flicker Green every now and then and generally just flip out on me.
Does anyone know what's the problem here and whether there's any specific settings i need to tweak within APE to get it to work properly?
    TIA

Ok thanks for the info guys
My original recommendation was to convert these but as mentioned wasn't the most popular option.
I've found some other threads on here in regards to a similar problem with Samsung cameras and APE 4. These also mention that the files need to be converted to a friendlier format before importing.
    Thanks again

  • Cannot import .AVI files into Adobe Premiere CS5

Hello Adobe users, I have recently begun a project within Premiere Pro, and I began importing files into my Premiere project, which I shot using my NS-DV1080P Insignia camcorder. I did some research and discovered that I needed some missing codecs. I found and istalled both codec packs, K-Lite, and ffdshow, and still the problem remains. I have contacted Insignia's help forums about this issue and they advised me to contact Adobe. Did I install the codecs wrong, or is there another problem? Could someone help me on this? Thanks.

After you format your drive to remove those codec packs, you need to find the SPECIFIC codec you need

  • Import an FLV file from Adobe Connect into Premiere Elements 12?

The Adobe Connect support staff recommended that we use Adobe Premiere Elements to edit the FLV file that we exported out of their software.  We purchased Adobe Premiere Elements 12 based on that advice.  Now we see that FLV files are not on the list of supported import files.
How can I import an FLV file from Adobe Connect into Adobe Premiere Elements 12 for editing?

    Welcome to the forum.
Over the years, I have used Moyea's Flash Importer plug-in for PrPro, and it has worked perfectly. With about PrPro CS 4, IIRC, Adobe did add an FLV Importer, so Moyea began to suspend development of that plug-in. Then, with the release of the CC version of PrPro, they dropped FLV completely.
Now, Moyea does have other programs, but I do not know if any of them are plug-ins for PrE. However, many of their programs can create, edit and output FLV.
There is also a (free, if memory serves) FLV converter, FLV to AVI, which I used to convert FLV files, before I discovered the Moyea plug-in for my PrPro.
I would look into Moyea, to see if there is anything, that will work as a plug-in to PrE, http://www.video-to-flash.com/products/, and if not, explore a program, such as FLV to AVI: http://www.pazera-software.com/products/flv-to-avi-converter/
    Good luck,

  • How to Import .MOV files in Adobe After Effects, I am Using Canon 700d for FilmShooting

    Hello,
I have Just brought a canon 700d and started Shooting HD Movies but now i want to add some effects in my video E.G. Twixtor effect for slow motion but I am facing a problem that i cannot import .MOV file in Adobe AE CS4. Please help me. Also If you can tell me any free converter for .MOV to AF file format.
I am using Windows 8 OS.
    Thanks!

CS4 is much older than Windows 8. CS4 is meant to work on XP or Vista. Getting it to run on Windows 7 was a bit of an issue, so I'm pleasantly surprised to hear that you have CS4 running on Windows 8 at all.
It's also possible that a new camera records in a codec that such an old version of AE doesn't understand.
Make sure you're running the latest update to your version of AE. You're on version 9, so make sure you've run the Adobe After Effects CS4 9.0.3 Update (I would not suggest updating in the middle of a project though, as any changes might break AE). I would like to reiterate: you're running a version that was released six years ago on an operating system that was released much more recently. So, be careful how you tread. However, if you're not running 9.0.3, you're missing some bug fix updates that might solve your problem.
I would suggest upgrading to a newer version of AE.
That being said, as Dave mentions, CS4 and earlier had lots of trouble with MPEG-4 and other codecs that used interframe compression. Can you open the files in your version of Premiere? If so, you can use Premiere or the Adobe Media Encoder to convert to a proper intermediate codec. MOV is just a container format. QuickTime with the PNG codec will work in After Effects CS4 with no problems as will the other codecs Dave mentions.

  • HOW TO TURN A .FLV FILE INTO AN SWF IN ADOBE?

    Questions,,,,,
    1. In a flash slide,,,,,How do I add effects to the movie,
like an intro black curtain coming up from the top and closing down
on the bottom,,,,,,to make it look more
    professional?,,,,,,,,,,,like this video-SUMMER NIGHTS-
    http://music.yahoo.com/ar-289037-videos--Lil-Rob
    2. How do I convert .flv files to swf files so I can upload
them to my site,,,,,because thats all it excepts?

    Peace,
I will try to answer both questions. You abviously know how
to creat an .FLV file. when you load you files on the server you
must place the .SWF and the .FLV in the same folder. With that you
will create your link to the .SWF file.
In regards to the other issue. I am incline to think that
what you see is a video effect and not a Flash one. If I where to
try this I would upload my video into the time line and add a new
layor to hold my effect. This should do it. But it will of course
make you .SWF larger than if you did the effect in a video editing
    program.
I hope I helped some how.
    Peace
    Khnumtemu

  • How do i get flv files in premiere elements

how can i get the premiere elements to use flv. files?

    verdanexi
What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system it is running?
In the absence of that information, the following is a generalized no can do answer.
Although files with flv file extensions can be exported from Premiere Elements, you cannot import flv files into Premiere Elements.
There used to be a time when earlier versions could use a Moyea plug-in to force Premiere Elements to accept flv files.
    how to edit .flv files
Your flv are going to have to be converted into another format before import into Premiere Elements if you want to use Premiere Elements as your video editor.

The link is provided for informational rather than promotional reason. I have not used it, but I have seen reports that it is free and works well for flv to avi.

  • How can I import Raw files from a canon eos 6d?

How can I import RAW files from a Canon Eos 6D into aperture?

Doesn;t look like the 6d is supported yet. I'm surprised, thought it would have  been in the latest update, 4.02.
In the meantime you can shot RAW+JPG and use the JPG's now and then switch to the RAW's once it is supported or else you an convert the RAWs to DNG using Adobe's converter and import the DNGs.
While I can't say for sure  Canon cameras are usually supported fairly quickly so hopefully you won't have to much longer to wait.
    regards
And in the meantime let Apple now you want this see Aperture->Provide Aperture Feedback
