  • How do I import movies from a DVD into iTunes?

I have a movie that I'd like to load into iTunes and watch on my iPod. How do I do that?

If it is a home movie, then convert it to a compatible file type and drag into itunes.
If it is a commercial DVD ( you purchased it, like a movie or tv show), then it is illegal to break the encryption used to stop people from copying the dvd. Sorry.

How do you import music from an ipod to itunes?

If you purchased all of the songs through itunes store, please follow these steps:
    1. Open up Itunes and Click on Itunes Store
    2. Once you're in the Itunes Store look to right side of the screen and you should see the word "purchased". Click purchased and you'll be sent to a purchase screen.
    3. Click on "All Songs" and then it will show all the songs you've downloaded. From there you just hit the button that looks like a cloud with an arrow on it, and it will download all the songs all over again.
If you didn't purchase them through Itunes, then you'll have to download software that will strip the songs from your iPod. And here is a guide about how to import music from iPod to iTunes. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

  • Please help - how do I import music from my ipod into a new itunes library?

    Hello
I would very much appreciate it if someone could tell me how to get the music from my old ipod mini into the new itunes library on my new laptop.
The mini was previously sync'd with my old PC which died so my files are only present on the ipod. Upon loading itunes, the software is only letting my sync the ipod providing I wipe it (obviously not desirable...)
    Thanks for any support, Andy

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" as you already know will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    SharePod Windows Only
    iRepo Mac and Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Import music from iPod Classic into iTunes

I have an iPod Classic 120 GB that is still in perfect condition. I got it 5 years ago. I had imported several CD's into iTunes on my family computer and then imported them on to my iPod. I also had purchased some music from the iTunes store, but I had a lot more music that I had imported from CD's. An incident happened where a lot of my music got deleted from my iTunes account. I had over 5000 songs on my iPod from all the CD's, audio books, and purchased music I had imported into iTunes and then on to my iPod. When I plugged my iPod into my computer, iTunes recognized that there was music on my iPod that wasn't in my iTunes library. It asked if I would like to import the music that was on my iPod into my iTunes library. I said yes. Of the 5000+ songs on my iPod, only about 300 were imported back into iTunes, and then my iPod was synced. I lost the rest of my music. After this incident, I took several hours to re-import the CD's back into my iTunes library. Not too long after this, my computer crashed. Everything was wiped from my computer. We started by re-installing the drivers, Google Chrome, and I just re-downloaded iTunes. All the music that was in my iCloud has been backed up and added to my new library. This is only about 31 songs. I'm afraid to plug in my iPod again because it still has all the music on it that took so long to re-import. But now I can't add another CD on to my iPod without the fear of losing everything again. Does anyone know how I can make sure that ALL the music will be re-imported into my iTunes library again when I plug in my iPod? I don't want to go through this ordeal again if I don't have to.

  • How do I transfer music from Sony MP3 into itunes

I have had an old sony MP3 which died and got an Ipod Touch for xmas. I have read the instructions on how to install music from computer into Itunes but it is not working.
    Any ideas

    Hi Tracey.
One of the simplest methods of importing existing music files into iTunes is to open iTunes, and use the File | Import... menu option. You can then browse to where your music is currently stored, and select the entire folder, or individual files. iTunes will then inspect these files, copy them into the iTunes library, and then report any problems or issues encountered.
Can you tell us where the process of getting your existing MP3s into iTunes seems to be falling down?

  • I want to import music from my ipod into itunes, is it possible?

My old laptop was destroyed, and I lost all of my music with exception of what's on m ipod currently. I got a new computer and installed itunes, but it's not giving me the option to import music into itunes from my ipod. I really want to be able to keep the music on my ipod, but I also have other music I want to add to itunes to add to my ipod later.
I have an ancient ipod classic, so I don't know if it's an issue because the ipod is so old, or if it's operator error because I'm just shy of computer illiterate. Help please!!

    Hey the_deekers17,
Thanks for the question. You can transfer certain media types from your iPod to a new iTunes library. These include music, movies and TV shows that were purchased from the iTunes Store. If you have music imported from a CD or other source, iTunes can’t transfer this media back to a computer:
iTunes: Transferring media from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1209
Music imported from a CD or other source
    - iTunes can't transfer this media back to your computer.
    - Back up your iTunes library or use iTunes Match.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

I am afraid it is against the forum terms of use to help you with this, as it would involve breaking the copy protection on a commercial DVD.

  • Is there a way to import movies from my DVDs into iTunes?

I have an ipod Video and I would like to import some of my favorite movies I own on DVD into my ipod to take with me on the road... Is there a way to do this? Please help...
    Dell Dimension 4550   Windows XP

Sorry, but if you're referring to a commercial DVD, those are copy-protected. Breaking the copy protection is illegal in the US, so discussing ways of doing it are not allowed here (since the US courts have been holding in some cases that even discussing in print such cracking may be illegal).
