How do I import my addresses from Outlook-saved on USB drive?

just got an imac, and LOVE it, but am a bit lost! I saved my address book from my old computer ( outlook) onto a USB jumpdrive thinking it would make it super easy to import them into mail, but can't make it do it now...it tells me they're not in the correct format. WIll it be possible to import them, or am I going to have to type them all in???

They were in Outlook on a pc--which is probably my problem! It has a tab that has "export" where you can save them to a disk or wherever, and I thought I was being smart by just using a jump drive...but it doesn't seem to be in the correct format to be recognized.

I saved the contacts in a CSV file and when I imported them into Contact in my MacAir, they went into the Contact Book but when I go to send an email, they are not selectable - they are there but greyed out where you cannot select them to send an email. Thank you for your prompt reply!  I have saved my calendar in .ics format, but the instructions for importing it to iCloud are for MAC computers.  Mine is a Windows 7 PC.  Are there some instructions for that?

  • Help! - how do I import my contacts from Outlook 2003 to Entourage:Mac?

I found an application but the .pst was not created my Outlook 2001 so the file could not be imported.
    I'm at a loss.
    Thanks!

You can't bring your contacts onto your iPad directly in this manner.  Some of your choices are:
1- Go back to Outlook and export your contacts as a .vcf or .vcard file, then import that into iCloud (you'll need to set up a free iCloud account first).  Then set your iPad to sync your iCloud contacts.
2- Import the .csv file you have into something like Yahoo or GMail (or use vcard), then use this type of account to hold your contacts.  GMail won't provide contacts directly to your iPad, you'd have to sync your GMail contacts to your iPad through iTunes, or set your GMail account up as an Exchange account to enable active sync to your contacts.
There are other ways, but these are probably your best options.

With many applications it's just a matter of dragging the file that has all the addresses into the address book. If for some reason that doesn't work you can use the import function of the address book. If you happen to have them in Outlook here is one way:

  • Contacts won't keep imported addresses from Outlook

When I import my contact addresses from Outlook into PE8 Contacts, they are all there for just that instance, then they all will disappear the next time I go to the contact page.  I can't find any option to fix that.  I have signed in and looked in my Adobe account and don't find anything there either.  What do you need to do/set/click on to permanently keep the addresses imported?  If I manually enter one, it stays.

Let's go step-by-step to see what the issue might be:
    1. In Outlook, select one contact.
    2. Right-click the contact and select Send Full Contact > In Internet Format (vCard).  This creates a draft email message with the selected contact as a vCard attachment.
After step 2, do you see the attachment in the draft message?  In Outlook 2007, it looks like:
It should look similar in Outlook 2003.   If you can't see where the attachment is, post a screenshot here (come to the Web to reply, not by email, and use the Attach Files command at the bottom of the message window).
    3. Click on that attachment and drag it to your Windows desktop.  On my Windows 7, it looks like:
If you other versions of Windows, it will look a little different.
