How do i import photos from dropbox into iphoto?

I have several photos in Dropbox that I am trying to import into iPhoto and use in a iPhoto book.  Is there a way to do this and bring in batch photos at one time?

To get them into iPhoto you must Import them from a physical location on your drive. If they are "in the cloud" them you need to download them to your computer such as the Desktop. Or they may be in a folder in the Dropbox folder in your Home folder or in your Pictures folder.

    Super Simple:
    1) After logging into DropBox, open iPhoto.
    2) Top of iPhoto, select "File", in file drop down, select "Import to Library" wait a second. It will open the import window.
    3) Locate " DropBox "
    4) Select the DropBox file you saved and would like to import.
    Done.

  • How can I import pictures from aperture into iPhoto

Since moving to mountain lion OSX, I can't find a way for importing pictures from aperture into iphoto. There used to ba a tab under archive in iPhoto where you could view the aperture library and select pictures to import them into iPhoto. This tab has diappeared. Could anyone tell me how it's done now?

I noticed indeed that you can change the library under "archive" in iPhoto but when I choose aperture library I can't find the same structure of albums as in aperture.
Sorry I don't understand this. What is "archive"?

  • How do i import photos from camera without iPhoto

how do i import photos from camera without iPhoto

You can import pictures from the device using Image Capture:
Connect the iOS device to the computer.
If Image Capture does not open automatically, you can navigate to your Applications folder and open Image Capture from there.
Choose the location to which you'd like to import pictures.
    Click Options.
Click the Options tab if it isn't already selected.
Enable the option "Delete items from camera after downloading".
Note: Deleting photos after importing helps to reduce Camera Roll size, and it improves backup and restore times. You may choose Keep Photos if you wish to import the photos to additional computers.
    Click OK.
    Click Download All.
If you have Aperture, you can use it to import your photos. See the Aperture User Guide for more information.

  • SL & permissions when importing photos from iPhone into iPhoto

    Got a weird one here.
SL, iphoto '09, iphone os 3.
Before SL, I could import photos from the iphone into a shared iphoto library and the default file permissions on uploaded photos would be read-only to all users, and so all users of the Mac could happily see all uploaded photos.
However, since SL, the default permissions to all are No Access (changing the permissions on the underlying file sort this, but that's a tedious manual operation of course).
Strangely though if I connect a digital camera then the default permissions for photos uploaded from that are read-only to all as desired. So it does look like an issue around the combo of SL and iPhone.
Anyone got any ideas on how I can get the behaviour I want with SL?
    Thanks,
    Marlon

    HI,
    Try repairing disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

How do i drag the photos from an email and put them on my desktop? And after that, how do i import the photos on the desktop to iphoto library?

    Hi Mark,
Click on the photo in the email and hold down the clicker and drag the photo to the desktop. Now drag the photo on top of the iPhoto icon in the dock and iPhoto will open and import it. If iPhoto is already open, drag the photo into iPhoto's viewing window.

  • How do I restore photos from backup into iPhoto 2?

I tried to create a backup of only one roll of photos in my Photo Library, but when I dragged it to an external hard drive, instead of copying it, it moved it, so that afterwards I could no longer use iPhoto in my computer to open any of the pictures in that roll (the number of the roll still shows in my Photo Library, but when I click on it, it appears empty). I then tried to restore the roll by copying it from the external hard drive into the Library/Pictures folder in my computer, but the pictures still do not show up in iPhoto (I'm using version 2). What am I doing wrong?

There must be more to it than that. Simply dragging images from the iPhoto application window does not move (or remove) files. The only way I can reproduce what you've described is to command-drag files or folders directly from the iPhoto Library folder using the Finder. Anyway, if your photo database wasn't corrupted at first, then dragging files directly back into the iPhoto Library folder would have done it for sure.
To rebuild your photo database, start iPhoto while holding the shift+option keys. Don't release them until you're prompted to confirm the intent to rebuild. Click "Yes", then click "Save".
Check iPhoto Help to see how to safely import/export pictures, and how to backup your iPhoto Library.

  • How do I consolidate photos from Finder into iPhoto Library?

I would like to tidy up my photos on my iMac to save space and ensure that all is secure.
Iam using iPhoto 08 on my iMac v10.8.5. My preference is to consolidate all my photos into my iphoto library so that I can manage my collection through iPhoto. I seem to have the same photos showing in Finder -> pictures as I do when I open iphoto. In addition photo files are also stored under My Pictures folder too. I'm guessing they are managed by iphoto but I don't know why they are saving in Finder as well as the iphoto library. I generally upload photos from either an iPhone or iPad.
I have the iphoto preferences set to 'copy items to the iPhoto library' so I'm not sure why they also appear in replicated album structures in Finder and as single images in Finder. Do I just import them again and delete from Finder? Any suggestions? (same for my .MOV files too).
I've taken a screen shot but don't know how to add to this post.

Thanks Larry. I tested that for one photo by deleting (placing in trash) one image and then reopening iphoto to make sure the photo was still there and it was.
However, I was going to select all the images to delete them noticed that the first 4 are not showing in iPhoto (I search by image number as well as sort by image title to double check). These are photos of my daughter at school so would not want to accidentally delete them.
Is there a way to compare what is in iphoto and what is in Finder? Any suggestions on how to ensure I don't miss any? I'm guessing I just import them all and then run the duplicate cleaner file (not perfect but I just deleted 1.5 GB of photos that were duplicated i iphoto). My operating system is old (2008) and needs all the grunt it can get.
Not sure if this may be related but iPhoto seems to randomly duplicate my photos and movies within iPhoto and I have no idea why this is happening. The photo and its title is repeated twice but the .jpg is dropped off the file title. Does the same for movies and drops the .MOV from the title when duplicating.
    Regards, Suzanna
PS I have just tried to import those 4 photos and they are in iPhoto but the photo name is date and time instead of image number as in Finder. That will make it really hard to find?

  • How do I import photos from usb to iphoto?

Sorry new to Mac I have old photos I have scanned would like to import them to Iphoto.

Just drag the into the open iPhoto window.
Were any of these photos scanned as black and white?  If so they may not import or appear normal once imported into iPhoto.  That's because iPhoto does not support photos scanned as grayscale.  So import just one and see if it imports and appears normal in all modes, thumbnail and full size.
If that photos doesn'twork download Convert to JPG and Embed sRGB profile.zip from Toad's Cellar and drop a copy of it onto the application.  Then try importing the converted photo into iPhoto.  If it works you can convert the rest of the B/W scanned files before importing into iPhoto.

  • Importing photos from ZoomBrowser into iPhoto without losing keywords and star ratings

I have been using Canon's ZoomBrowser EX on my Windows Vista laptop. I have just bought a MacBook Air running Lion. I would like to import all of my photos to iPhoto, but when I do this I lose all of the keywords and star ratings I have associated with my many photos. Is there any way to import the photos into iPhoto while retaining the keywords and star ratings so that I can use them in iPhoto? Doing this manually would be impractical due to the large number of photos involved.
    Thanks.
    - Charlie

    Keywords:
Iphoto can certainly import them if they are written to the correct fields of the standard metadata. They key question is can your Windows app write them to the files?
    Ratings
There's no real way to share ratings via standard metadata, but if you can write the keywods, then you can quickly tag the pics with simple keywords (1star, 2star) and when imported to iPhoto recreate your rating system.
So, the question is really about your existing software and what it can do.

  • Can't import photos from iPhone into iPhoto

If i try to do a batch import, it says there's a problem downloading an image. If I try to import one image, it says the file is in an recognizable format. It's a jpg.
Any ideas how I can get my photos and videos off my iPhone and why it won't import?

When googling the error number, the second and last result (your post is the first) on http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=946758&page=8 says :
"Nevermind, I've tried using image capture and preview to import but i keep getting "The operation couldn't be completed.(com.apple.ImageCaptureCore error-9912.)"
After doing some digging around i found this old (2006) response from the apple threads:
    REFRESH PHONE
Hold down the power button and the home button until the Apple appears on the screen, then let go.
    REFRESH SYNC HISTORY
Find iSync under Applications and Open it.
On the top menu click on iSync and choose Preferences.
Under the Advanced Section click on Reset Sync History. (It may appear as nothing happened, but something did in the background, the history was reset)
Go ahead and close iSync and then try importing your photos with iPhoto again
    It worked like a charm"
Resetting the Sync history on iSync and soft rebooting the iPhone surprisingly did it for me. I'm not sure it's an universal fix and it's quite cumbersome (I forgot I still had an iSync application on the mac).
