How do I import sound?

All the sound files that I would like to use are either 'wma'
files or M4A files. They simply disappear when I get to individual
titles. There is nothing to select. I have a few wav files that
import just fine.
I have just upgraded to Flash CS3...Any advice? I would love
to hear it.

yes - Flash only supports wav, aiff, and mp3 files - you will
need to convert them to one of these formats, preferably mp3. you
can do so using a free-ware application like
Audacity

  • How do I import sound from a skype call i recorded?

I recorded a call with someone through Skpe just sound no video and now I would like to import it into imovie
but I can't seem to figure out how to do it? Any help would be massively appreciated!

First, open your MOV file in QuickTime Player. Then click Command-I. (Type the letter I while holding down the command key). That will bring up the Inspector. Tell us everything that is listed by the word "FORMAT:"
Next, there are several generic ways to do this. They all should work.
The first way to try would be to use FILE/IMPORT MOVIE and import the MOV file into iMovie. From there you can add audio to your movie. Choose a portion of the event clip, drag it to your movie and drop it on a current clip. In the Popup menu, choose Audio Only.
The second way would be to process the MOV file in a third party app like MPEG Streamclip. Use FILE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME. Choose an audio only codec like AIFF or AAC.
Another way. Use FILE/IMPORT MOVIE to bring the MOV file into an iMovie Event. Start a new project in iMovie. Select the clip in the Event and type E to bring it into the project timeline. Then SHARE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME. Choose Sound to AIFF. This will give you a sound file that you can use in another project, in iTunes, etc.

  • How do I import sound files to Photoshop CS5.1?

I'm trying to make a picture and then have a few animations on how to do this. I tried to open the file with PS but it says it's not the right kind of file. How do I do this?
Also, is this the newest version of CS5?
    Thanks.

That $30 is for a QT Pro license, which is what I have.
Basically, you will need some kind of movie editor. This will allow you to import audio files and export your project as a .mov file.
Since you still have not told us whether you're on a Mac or pc I will have to limit my suggestions, so for starters you could look at something you probably already have, e.g. iMovie or Windows Movie Maker, depending on your platform. You could also download free trials of programs like Premiere Elements. Or Media Encoder CC. Or just Google free movie editors, such as this one: Video Editing Software. • How do I import sound from digital recorder?

    Thank you for helping!

    Make and model?
I have a little Zoom recorder. It records to a mini-sd card. I can do either:
Put card into adapter, attach to Mac - done.
    or
Use the provided USB cable. Nothing to do but connect it to the computer with it, turn it on - done.
Either of those methods used with my recorder resulted in the files being displayed in the Finder.
So list your make and model of recorder here and we'll see if we can help!

  • How can i import an mp3 to a Notification Ringtone under the "Sound Settings"?

how can i import an mp3 to a Notification Ringtone under the "Sound Settings"? (i can do it to "Phone Ringtones" easy, but not Notifactions)

This might work as well and will allow drag and drop of mp3 files. This is written as if the phone is connected to the computer.
In the sd card, check if there is a folder called media. In the media folder verify or create a folder called audio. Within the audio folder create the following folders: alarms, notifications, and ringtones. These should be typed exactly as written. Copy or move the files into the folder you want them in. Disconnect the phone from the computer and let the remount the sd card. Now go into your notification or ringtones list. The files you put into the individual folders should automatically be there.
I know that this works on the Eris and I got the method back when only the eris and droid 1 was available. I just can't remember exactly where I got it. Hopefully it also works for the Droid 1.

    Be nice please.

  • How can i import a music CD including all sounds from 5Hz to 30KHz?

In order to be really lossless what configuration must be used?

+"how can i import a music CD including all sounds from 5Hz to 30KHz?"+
+"In order to be really lossless what configuration must be used?"+
That is two different questions. If you want "lossless," which is defined as being sonically equivalent to the source CD, iTunes has 3 choices, as thicks noted.
However, that does not provide frequency content as high as 30 kHz, since normal CD encoding is based on 44/16 PCM, and rolls off well before that. If you want all those frequencies, you have to use studio quality masters based on 192/24 encoding, which is far beyond iTunes's capabilities to handle.

  • Premiere CS5 import avi clips without sound. How can I import avi clips with sound without convert?

    Dear Adobe Forum,
I have the following problem, please help:
I would like to import avi clips in adobe premiere. All clips have the same avi codec. But unfortunately my adobe premiere does not import the sound of a few
avi clips. It is wired because about 10 out 70 avi clips which have all the same avi codec does not work with sound in premiere CS5. In the timline premiere import the video and audio line but there are no audio waves in the about 10 avi clips. additonally premiere plays the 10 avi clips in the source monitor without sound. Furthermore when I open the 10 avi files without adobe premiere they have sound, but with premiere there are no sound in the 10 avi clips.
What can I do, so that I can import all avi files with sound. I do not want to convert each of the avi files because then they have not a good quality and it is to complicated and it takes to much time to convert all files in this video project and in the other video project in my future.
Consequently How can I import all avi files so that they have immediately sound? Do I have to change some premiere settings?
    Thank you in advance
    Leonardo

  • How do I import an Amadeus Pro sound file into iMovie?

I am fairly new to the Imovie 08 program and have a few questions.
I've made the moveie and am in the process of editing out what I need and don't need. I have a sound file that I created in Amadeus pro that I need to use as the voice-over for the movie. I just can't figure out how to use that sound file over the movie. Can anyone help?
    Thanks

The sound file must be in a supported audio codec like MP3, AAC, or several others.
Place the sound file in a drive and a folder where you can leave it while your video project is active. If you move it later by using the finder, iMovie will not know how to find it.
Now, drag the file into iMovie and drop it on the first clip where you want it to start playing.

  • How do I import an iPhoto Library  (V.7.1.5) created on my old MacBook (10. 6.8) into my new Macbook pro (10.9.1) running iPhoto 9.5.1? I tried copying onto memory stick and moving to new mac, but new iPhoto doesn't recognise the library.

How do I import an iPhoto Library  (V.7.1.5) created on my old MacBook (10. 6.8) into my new Macbook pro (10.9.1) running iPhoto 9.5.1? I tried copying onto memory stick and moving to new mac, but new iPhoto doesn't recognise the library.

So what exactly did you copy over? If it's a 12 gig iPhoto Library then it sounds like the files are there. Perhaps the copy went wrong along the way.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • WMA formats, How do I import into iTunes?

Hi There, This is my first time here...
I purchased a new CD and wanted to add it to my library, but I couldn't. So I asked their "tech support".
I have cut and pasted their response.
My questions: How do I copy the songs to iTunes?
and in the last para of the response, they make it sound like Apple is the hold up for making this process easier, is that true? is there an easy fix for this?
    THE EMAIL BEGINS HERE......Thanks
    Hello Tangela,
Thank you for contacting us. We appreciate your purchase of the Anthony Hamilton CD and will be happy to assist you with the music transfer.
Please follow the instructions below in order to move your content into iTunes and onto an iPod:
If you have a Mac computer you can copy the songs using your iTunes Player as you would normally do.
If you have a PC place the CD into your computer and allow the CD to automatically start. If the CD does not automatically start, open your Windows Explorer, locate the drive letter for your CD drive and double-click on the LaunchCD.exe file located on your CD.
Once the application has been launched and the End User License Agreement has been accepted, you can click the Copy Songs button on the top menu.
Follow the instructions to copy the secure Windows Media Files (WMA) to your PC. Make a note of where you are copying the songs to, you will need to get to these secure Windows Media Files in the next steps.
Once the WMA files are on your PC you can open and listen to the songs with Windows Media Player 9.0 or higher. You may also play them in any compatible player that can play secure Windows Media files, such as MusicMatch, RealPlayer, and Winamp, but it will require that you obtain a license to do so. To obtain this license, from the Welcome Screen of the user interface, click on the link below the album art that says If your music does not play in your preferred player, click here. Follow the instructions to download the alternate license. PLEASE NOTE: This license is only necessary for playing the copied songs in a media player other than iTunes or Windows Media Player. If you are just trying to use iTunes, simply continue with these instructions.
Using Windows Media Player only, you can then burn the songs to a CD. Please note that in order to burn the files, you need to upgrade to or already have Windows Media Player 9 or greater.
Once the CD has been burned, place the copied CD back into your computer and open iTunes. iTunes can now rip the songs as you would a normal CD.
Please note an easier and more acceptable solution requires cooperation from Apple, who we have already reached out to in hopes of addressing this issue. To help speed this effort, we ask that you use the following link to contact Apple and ask them to provide a solution that would easily allow you to move content from protected CDs into iTunes or onto your iPod rather than having to go through the additional steps above. http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipod.html
Please let us know if we can assist you further.
    Thank you,

How do I import the songs into iTunes so that I can play them on my iPod?
    iPod HP laptop   Windows XP
    iPod HP laptop   Windows XP

To answer your Question in short, yes apple is the hold up. A more detailed answer follows.
THe steps they tell you to do are basic steps for removing protection or "DRM" usually. Most record companys today go all out to protect there copyright songs by putting DRM "Digital Rights Management" or protection on them. Almost all the world (Last I looked it was roughly 95%) of the world uses a PC with Microsoft on it. Since Microsoft installs windows media player on all windows, the record companys have found it most easy to have there songs copied with the program in the "Protected WMA" file format.
Apple and Microsoft are from 2 different worlds and have went against eachother pretty much the whole 20 something years modern computers have been around. Since Microsoft made and owns the WMA format, any company that makes products that will play this format have to pay what they call a "Royalty fee".. Apple isn't about to pay micorsoft for anything like that, as they themselfs are pushing there own royalty fee based format of AAC. Apple does offer in iTUnes to convert UNprotected WMAs.
The steps they gave you to do (as they didn't mention to you cuz they don't want you to know) is steps for actually "Taking off" or "Removing" the protection off the song. the industry has yet to figure out how to keep protection on digital songs when its being burned to a CD. So when its burned to the CD and the protection is off, now iTUnes has full access to the music

  • How can I import my bookmarks and RSS feeds from Flock?

I just switched over from Flock because it's too sluggish to use anymore. How do I import all my bookmarks, passwords, and RSS feeds? If I have to do it all by hand, I'm going to cry.
Also do I need a separate RSS reader to get my feeds in a nice list like Flock does it? I don't really get how Live Bookmarks are supposed to work.
Thanks. I used Firefox before moving to Flock, so hopefully switching back won't be too painful.

Hm. This was somewhat helpful. I got my bookmarks moved (although now that I see how many of them I had backed up, I'm not sure that was a good idea).
Still trying to figure out the passwords... I have my Flock profile folder and my Firefox profile folders open... it looks like I need to copy the key3.db file and the signons.sqlite file from the Flock folder to the Firefox folder, does that sound correct?
As for the RSS feeds, it looks like I'll need an external reader to make any use of the .OPML file that Flock exported for me. I'm still not really clear on how Live Bookmarks work, exactly. I see how to create and manage them, I just don't get how they function day to day. I have a ridiculous number of RSS feeds, some of which still have half a hundred posts I'm working my way through.
Any recommendations for a good Firefox compatible feed reader?
    Thanks!

  • How do i import to a external hard drive

Hi in I movie how to i import to a external hard drive from my video camera as i find it takes to much room on my imac. thanks

    Hello there foxcub 6,
It sounds like you want to be able to import your video to an external drive rather than your internal drive to save space.
First, you'll need to create an iMovie library on your external hard drive. Take a look at the "Create a new library" section here: http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.0/#mov3fa25bae7
After you've created the library, you can import media directly to it, and copy existing projects and events to it as well. You can learn more about importing here:
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.0/#movbc953953e
Step 6 outlines how to Import to a different library specifically:
    Do one of the following:
To choose an existing event to contain the imported clips: Choose the event from the “Import to” pop-up menu at the top of the Import window.
To create a new event to contain the imported clips: Choose New Event from the “Import to” pop-up menu, type a name for the new event, and press Return.
To learn more about events, see Organize your events and projects.
The Import To dropdown is at the top of the Import window that opens when you click File > Import.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,Sterling

I see all the upgrades as additional memory or a faster process?

The main reason for this purchase is to play live and use backing tracks and record found sounds and make creative songs.
I hope you can provide some valuable feedback, as I am a longtime MAC user and see upgrades and changes happen regularly but the most important thing is the songs not the equipment.
I have £500 already and willing to add another 500 to 700 pounds, then software extra.
