How do I increase memory for Lion install?

When I try to install Lion, I get the following: "Mac OS X 10.7 requires at least 2 GB of memory." Any thoughts about what is going on?

I bought my iMac in early 2007. This is info from Hardware Overview:

In the package explorer view or navigator view right click on the build file select "Run as / Ant Build ...". On the JRE Tab you can enter the VM Aguments like -Xmx512m

How does Java structure memory for an object's members?

I'm trying to figure out how Java structures/allocates memory for objects. (Yes this is implementation specific. I'm using the Oracle 1.7 runtime for this.) I did some work on this here and here and the results are confusing.
First off, in both referenced links, when I allocated an array of objects, the equivalent of new Object[10000], it used 4 bytes per object. On a 32-bit system this makes perfect sense. But I'm on a 64-bit system so what's going on here?
Is Java limited to a 32-bit address space even on 64-bit systems?
Is Java limited to a 32-bit address space per array and each array object then has a pointer to where the elements are?
Something else?
Second, I compared the memory footprint of 8 booleans vs. a byte as the variables in a class. The 8 booleans requires 24 bytes/object or 3 bytes/boolean. The single byte approach requires 10 bytes/object.
What is going on with 3 bytes/boolean? I would understand 4 (making each an int) and definitely 1 (making each a byte. But 3?
And what's with expanding a byte to 10 bytes? I would understand 8 where it's expanding a byte to a native int (I'm on a 64-bit system). But what's with the other 2 bytes?
And in the case of different ways to create a RGB class it gets really weird.
For a class composed of 3 byte variables it uses 24 bytes/instance. Expensive but understandable as each uses an int.
So I tried where each class is a single int with the RGB stored in parts of the int (using bit shifting). And it's still 24 bytes/instance. Why on earth is Java taking 3 ints for storage? This makes no sense.
But the weirdest case is where the class has a single variable of "byte[] color = new byte3;" Note that the byte is allocated so it's not just a null pointer. This approach takes less memory than the other two approaches. How???
Any guidance as to what is going on here is appreciated. I have a couple of classes that get allocated a lot and the flywheel pattern won't work (these objects have their values changed all over the place).
And an associated question, does the order of declaring variables matter? Back in the old days when I did C++ programming, declaring "int, byte, int, byte" used 4 int's work of space while "int, int, byte, byte" used 3.

If you mean the built-in functionality of Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash, it's different mechanism for both.

Bash update for Lion install correctly?

I can't tell if the Bash update for Lion installed correctly. It shows up twice on my desktop and is under devices in finder. It went though all the questions, agreeing and where to install. I have a Mac mini from early 2009. Running 10.7.5 version of Lion.

There should be an icon on the Desktop that looks like an external hard drive and is named "bash Update" or something like that. Drag it to the Trash. If you don't see it there, look in the sidebar of a Finder window under DEVICES and click the eject icon. Then look in the Downloads folder for a file with a similar name and drag it to the Trash.

How to adjust video memory for Toshiba A305-s6905?

Hello, I bought Toshiba A305-S6905 from best buy last month or more.
Now everything goes well. I am glad to own such a laptop.
The machine's spec describes the graphics card:
"Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
Features 128-1294MB dynamically allocated shared video memory for intense detail."
the video memory is dynamically allocated, and the range is 128-1294MB.
I want to know how to get the largest video memory for some games like CS, etc. I tried to manually adjust the video memory size in BIOS, but failed. There is nothing related with video memory option.

There's software installed that does it automatically based on what the system is doing at the time. If you're playing a game, it will give it the necessary video memory.
I am assuming you're asking this because you're not happy with the performance of the game, otherwise you wouldn't be trying to adjust it manually. I am also assuming you're talking about CS. Unfortunately, systems with integrated graphics (what yours has) just aren't cut out for playing graphically-intensive games. You'll need to spend more than $600 for a computer that is good for games.

Look up save castlib. put this in your loop and and maybe try
i mod 10 so it
only saves every 10 times. This should pull the images from
ram to disk, and
sort of purge the memory for you.

I had bought a MacBook Pro 13" core 2 duo last year, I am planning to upgrade the OS from Snow Leopard to Lion. The doubt that is stopping me to purchase the Lion OS from the app store is that if I install the new OS and may be in future I need to format the computer how will I take the backup of the OS. Do I need to purchase the OS again after formatting the computer.

If while you are in Messages and set the volume, that is all you can get. You can try and see if Volume Limit is checked by going to Settings>Music and see if Volume Limit is off.
The only other thing I can recommend, is to create your own ringtone/text tone in a music editor and increase the volume in the file. You may also want to check your speaker area and see that it is clean and not blocked by any debris.

via Macupdate I saw the new version 6.02 and did not thought about it. So I installed it only to view that this version would run only on a Mountain Lion system.
My 2007-MacBook is not capable to run 10.8.
So I tried to replace the new version with a Safari (6.0.1) from a TimeMachine Backup. I also tried to apply again the Mac OS X Combo Updater (10.7.5), but the installer says that it is not possibel to install it (again).
The thing is that Safrai still keeps crashing. Now I don't know what to do.
Any help is appreciated

download the latest Flash from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
and before installing, check HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ and the same folder (if it exists) in your Home/Library/ for anything named Flash... moving them to the trash.
you may also have a Flash Player icon in System Preferences - the Advanced tab has an Updates section, with a 'check now' button, which should show what you have & if it needs updating.

CLARIFICATION FOR LION INSTALL

I have a late 2009 27" Imac core 2 duo with 4 gigs of ram and will be installing Lion soon but need some clarification on a couple of things ......
First I am going to partition the HD so that I can still run Snow Leopard .........
This is where I need the clarification..........Once partitioned I think I will need to install Snow Leopard on the second partition and make sure that it is up to date (correct) once this has been done I can then download Lion and proceed with the install (I hope this is correct) Once this has been installed I should be able to reboot into either of these OS's ?? (I Hope)
Now , I want to create a bootable USB of Lion and I have the USB device and I have read a couple of articles on how to do this , has any one here done this and if so how did the USB boot work after doing it?? Will it run in virtual like booting from a live disc or is it just for back up purposes to re install Lion if it needs to be reinstalled for one reason or another??
Any and all help will be apreciated as I just want to make sure that I have this correct before I start so that I do not have to do this but once.

Other than main software update, how should I prepare Mac for Lion?

I'm not at all talented at updating software and operating systems, etc.
I am aware that i should do the software update from the apple symbol menu on the top left of our screens, but other than that I am unsure about anything else i should do before instaling Lion.
I've resisted the urge to download it so far, i thought I'd wait to see how it went.
One way or the other, i am going to get it, if thats where Apple wants to go, then it makes sense to follow them there,while i'm using a mac, but I just want to make sure I'm not one of those that are current;ly being told that they should have checked this or that before installing.
I don't have any expensive applications to worry about becoming disfunctional, i don't really have that many apps on the iMac at all, but things like flash worry me, I'm terrible at comprehending the file system on any computer, so moving things around and deleting things terrifies me.
Anyway, I just wondered if someone could give me a small checklist to refer to before I let the Lion out of it's cage.

First as mentioned above have a clone backup handy. HDD are cheap these days I personally have a clone copy of my snow leopard system in case I need it. Use carbon copy cloner or superduper!
Then make sure you dont need any of the any PowerPC only application. A way to do this is found on this page http://www.cultofmac.com/os-x-lion-kills-rosetta-powerpc-support-heres-what-to-d o-about-it/103458 .
If you don't need any of these applications then go ahead and delete them. Lion kills support for these applications so you won't be able to open them.

then you can go ahead and upgrade or make clean install of lion. I personally prefer the clean install and is what I did. I prefer to erase my whole hardd drive and install clean. Then used migration assistant and my clone backup to import all my settings and applications. You can also install all applications from scratch if you prefer.
If you want to make a bootable DVD or USB stick to make a clean install it's easy just contact me if you want the steps.
