  • How do I install CC Desktop and Apps to a drive other than "C"?

After several problems, help from the forum, and finally an Adobe tech from India, the tech was able to install CC Desktop.  The tech had to make hidden files visible, and change an existing file OO?? (I can't remember the last two letters") to OO??_old.  Maybe this will help someone else.
Perhaps I'm wrong, but as the tech was downloading and installing CC Desktop, I didn't see any option for which drive to install it on.  I am now installing CC apps.  I see no option as to which drive to install the app.
    I have my computer setup as C: operating system; D: sctratch; E: programs; F: files, G: cd/dvd.
How can I install CC Desktop to "E"?  If done, will CC apps automatically install on "E"?  Will CC Desktop work properly on other than "C" drive?   Will CC apps work properly on other than "C" drive?  If CC Desktop should always be on "C", can I stll install CC apps on "E"?  I get no dialog box or window providing an option of where to install any of the CC programs.

While CCApp Prefs does give you this option, it doesn't respect the settings and still installs to C: Drive. This is a big problem for those using an SSD drive to boot. Why would something as simple as choosing your install folder, like every other application in the world be an issue that has taken over a year to fix?

  • How do I prevent creative cloud from installing a desktop shortcut?

I have absolutely no need for a desktop shortcut to cc, since I have it running in the taskbar whenever I start my computer. What's worse is that I have to type in admin username and password to be able to delete these icons from my work computer. It's a pain that this thing that I don't want keeps popping up with every update. My desktop is already cluttered, it doesn't need Adobe's help making it worse.
Any way to stop Adobe from adding a desktop shortcut to CC?
    Thanks!!

There is no option to uncheck "Create Desktop Shortcut" as in other installers as far as I know.

  • How do I create a desktop shortcut to an application in Mac OS 9?

For example I have installed the original command and conquer (Blast from the past!) how do I get the application icon to the desktop as a 'shortcut'?

You can also hold down both the Command and Option keys, and while keeping them held down drag the icon of the game out to the desktop. When you release the mouse, an alias (shortcut) to the game will be created where you let go.
One advantage to this method is that the resulting alias will not have the word "alias" appended to it (unless you initially drop it in the same folder as the original).

  • How would I create a desktop shortcut for one of my bookmarks?

What I would like to do is access one of my bookmarks straight from my desktop. I think I need to create a shortcut in order to do this. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Sorry misunderstood
    Here's solution
You can use Firefox to create a shortcut on your computer's desktop to a page you've visited:Resize the Firefox window so you can see both your computer's desktop and the Firefox window on the same screen.Click the icon on the left of the Location bar, i.e. where the web address (URL) is shown. While still holding the mouse button down, move the pointer to the desktop, then release the mouse button. The shortcut will be created. You can also drag and drop items to the desktop from the Bookmarks menu and the Library window to create shortcuts. If you open the shortcut you made, your default browser will open, and display the page for which you made the shortcut. If you want to make Firefox your default browser, see How to make web links open in Firefox by default. In addition, there may be third-party Firefox extensions that can help you. • How do I install the desktop application for formscentral on my laptop?

How do I download the form central application on my laptop? It is currently installed on my desktop and I need to work on it from either computer.

When you go into iCloud there is an option to delete the account.  The help desk advised me that using this option only deletes it on the phone and not the actual Apple ID.  If you delete it you are given an option to keep content associated with this ID on the phone, which may be a good idea unless you want to completely refresh your phone.
Once you delete the account, you can then enter a new Apple ID.
I've just done it and it worked fine, leaving the original Apple ID intact and working on another phone.

  • How do I install on desktop and laptop computer

I downloaded the Mac 10.7.2 Lion software onto my iMac.  I want to also install the download to my laptop computers.  However, it only showed up on my iMac and I don't see how to install it on my laptops.  Do I have to buy the OS for each device?  Isn't there a way to download the software so I can upgrade all of my computers so I can start using iCloud?

If you didn't save the installer then it was erased after the upgrade. You need to install Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on your other computers to access the App Store. Sign in with the same Apple ID you used for your purchase. Click on the Purchases icon in the App Store toolbar. You may then re-download the Lion installer without having to pay for it again.
I suggest that you see the following:
    Make Your Own Lion Installer
    1. After downloading Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Lion application. After Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Lion installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing Lion.
    2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
    3. Locate the saved Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
    4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
    Open Disk Utility.
Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Drag the InstallESD.dmg disc image file into the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable Lion installer that  you can use without having to re-download Lion.

  • How do I install DPS Desktop Tools where manual updates have been turned off?

I'm using AAMEE 3.1 for deployment across a higher education campus. I turned off updates in the initial install process planning to use AAMEE to create packages and ARD to deploy them.
I need to install the Digial Publishing Desktop Tools (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=182&platform=Macintosh) but I can not manually install updates on the clients, and AAMEE is not accepting adding the update to the workflow.
    Suggestions?

    hi,
Yes, you can temporarily enable the updates. Just rename the file AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat present at path
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdaterInventory/1.0/AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat . Then you can apply the updates you want on the machine. Once you are done, just rename it back to its original name and the updates will be suppressed again.

    One, pacman -S gnome gnome-extra.
Two, pacman -S gamin and allow it to replace FAM.
Three, add hal gdm to your DAEMONS array in /etc/rc.conf, and remove fam if it's there.
    Four, /etc/rc.d/hal restart && /etc/rc.d/gdm restart.
    Five, profit.

  • How do I keep a desktop shortcut to a server file active???

I just got my PB and have it connected to the network (XP-based). I can get on our fileserver with no problem. I have the file/folder I need access to listed in my login section under Accounts. Yet, when I close my lid for the night, come in and open it (and allow time to make connections...like 10 minutes) my links/aliases are not active. I thought the Login was supposed to take care of that.
Am I missing something? My thought was that upon powering on, or loggin in, that the PB would go out and make the neccessary connections.
    Thanks,
    Tom

That's odd, I have similar situation here at work with me connecting to a windows network, but closing the lid does not disconnect me from the server.
Perhaps the server is configured to disconnect idle connections after 30 minuntes of inactivity or something like that.
Regardless, putting the alias in the login items won't reconnect when you reopen the lid. Login Items only run when you login. You may have automatic login set for when you boot up the computer.
You are doing the right thing in putting an alias to the network file/folder somewhere on your computer. You want to consider putting the alias somewhere unobtrusive like the dock or the sidbar.
    Connect to your server.
Go to the your Computer by clicking the Computer icon in the sibar in a Finder window, or by selecting Computer from teh Go menu.
You should see the name of the server drive in the list next to your drive and network and iDisk. Don't get confused between the sidebar and the list of drives.
You can now drag that drive from teh list of drives to the dock or into the sidebar.
Some of us here at the office prefer putting just the folders we need in the dock or sidebar. If you have a lot of folders on that shared drive and you only care about 1 or 2, you might want to just stick those folders in the dock and/or sidebar.

  • Automatically installed desktop shortcut on Windows 7 pro suddenly called Mottzilla. Have I been hacked?

I am using Firefox 19, upgraded on 20 February. It appeared automatically to install a desktop shortcut, which I have just noticed is called MoTTzilla . The only Mottzilla I see on a quick scan is a gaming company.
Is this a hack? or virus? If I right click and open file it leads to Mozilla program files, but I'm not sure where to look to find something inappropriate.

Please, check your add-ons, it may be caused because of one of them. Also it is possible that you have virus in your PC.
