How do I install a printer driver, without the printer?

You see, I don't want to print anything.
I am using some CAD software and I use the “create PDF” function of the printer dialogue to make a PDF.  The problem is my drawing is quite large so I need to install a printer driver for a printer that handles larger paper (Epson 1280).  I have the driver, but it refuses to install without the printer being attached to it.

I didn't post one.

  • LaserJet 100 color MFP M175nw - how do I install a different driver on the server to which I RDP?

I have installed my LaserJet 100 color MFP M175nw on my (32-bit) Windows XP Pro SP3 PC via USB and it works fine.  When I make it the default printer (I also have another HP printer installed locally) and use Windows Remote Desktop (RDP) to my server - which is (64-bit) Windows Enterprise without Hyper-V SP2 (2008 R2) it prints but some fonts show gobbledygook. The printer driver on the server is defaulting to "terminal services easy print".  I have administrator privileges on the server and have, in the past, been able to download the appropriate driver to the server so that printing in the RDP session works.  But now I only seem to be able to find installation software to download (not the actual drivers).  So, when attempting to install the software (rather than copy it) on the server the installation waits for the local (USB) connection and won't proceed.
What is the best practices way to have the locally installed (fully functional) machine be able to print from an RDP session?  I'm sure I shouldn't have to drag each new local printer to the server and install it locally with a USB cable.

  • How do I install Boot Camp drivers without the Mac OS disc?

When I installed OS X Lion for my Macbook Pro, I purchased it off the Apple Store (so I don't have the disc.)
Is there any way possible to download the drivers I need without the disc?

there is a guide when you launch boot camp assistant, and the faqs articles how-to and manual are
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp
In fact the above and change the last /..... to product name is usually your best first stop for help. And Help menu in program, like Boot Camp Assistant of course, will as well!!

  • Can anyone tell me how to install a network printer driver without having the network printer online?

Can anyone tell me how to install a network printer driver without having the network printer online? It doesn't matter what manufactors make the network printers. Is a netwaork printer(with network card) has to have that printer on line to be able to install
the driver? This is the point of my question!
I've ask a same type of question previously, but I can't either get good answer nor reply on the response.

    DP
The computer (and driver) have to handshake with the printer, QED it has to be either online or physically connected and if it is physically connected it wont work on the network so yes it does.

How do I install windows using bootcamp without cd drivers?

You can use a USB thumbdrive to do this, assuming you have access to a windows machine to format the usb stick.
I installed Win7 on my MB Air (2011), which of course lacks a DVD drive altogether, using this technique.
Basically, you download a tool called rEFIt to your macbook. ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/refit/files/rEFIt/0.14/rEFIt-0.14.dmg/download ) When this is installed, it gives you a boot selector menu when you boot the Macbook ('Do you want to boot to MacOS or to the USB drive?')
Then you download and run an Apple tool called Boot Camp Assistant, which allows you to partition your HD for the two operating systems to share; it also pulls down all the windows drivers you need.
Then prep the USB thumbdrive on a windows machine to be a Win7 installer disk. You'll want a drive in the 4gb+ range I think. You have to set up the thumbdrive to be bootable (lots of tools for that available), and then copy all the windows installation files over to it.
Put the thumbdrive in the macbook and boot holding down the option key.
Choose the rEFIt icon on boot, then choose to boot from the thumbdrive, then format your new windows partition to something Win7 can handle, and install windows.
On my machine I followed a slightly more involved process and wiped out MacOS entirely. I would have kept it on a small partition if I'd had a bigger hard drive.
If you need super detailed instructions, CNET has some here:

Tech-Recipes has some similar instructions here:

If you have any issues after trying this, ping me and I may have solved them when I went through the same process.

  • How do I install my LG Super Multi BLADE Mac compatible external drive without the install disc?

I can't find my install disc! How do I install my LG Super Multi BLADE Mac compatible external drive without the install disc?

You don't have installer discs with that model. What do you need to do? USB and Thunderbolt external drives do not require any special software. If you need to partition and format them, then use Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.

  • How do I add a Printer Driver to the Driver List??

Im trying to add my printer to a WGPS606 Netgear Print server. So Im adding a Printer to print via LPD IP printing, but My Canon iP4200 is not listed as one of the canon printers in the "Print Using" driver list.
I have been to the Canon site and can only seem to download a Pkg driver file (which I have run).
If I use the "other" setting in the "print using" driver list surely I can add the iP4200 if I had the right driver file.....? How do I get hold of the right file to add it to the list or am I missing the point of adding a print driver to the pre-installed list????

I have read my list through and through but no sign
of Designjet 900. (now slightly cross-eyed). If you
get a chance to look through the list on your mac
when you're reunited, I would be grateful!
The latest version of the Gutenprint/Gimp-Print drivers does not have a generic DeskJet Series 900 PPD. It lists individual printers in the 900 range. The Gimp-Print v4.2.7 driver package did have a generic DeskJet Series 900 PPD. Somewhere in between, there was a change over to model specific PPDs.
Crispian, your original request for a driver for an HP printer was for the HP Deskjet 9800. Gutenprint/Gimp-Print does not support that printer. The hpijs drivers do support that printer. If that is not the printer you have, please specify again which printer you have. There has been mention of the DeskJet 9800, DeskJet 900, and DesignJet 900 in this thread.

  • How do i install a hp laser jet 4l printer on windows7

how do i install a hp laser jet 4l printer on windows7 Where do I get the drivers

The driver is delivered through Windows Update as described here.
You could also use the Windows 7 driver finder tool at http://www.hp.com/go/tools.
If you do not have a parallel port on your Windows 7 machine you may need a USB-parallel converter cable.  The models mentioned in the posts tagged here have been verified by users to work in Windows 7.

  • How can I get a printer driver for the hp psc 2410 photosmart?

When I tried toadd the printer, there was a message saying that the printer driver for the 2400 series was available, but when I tried to download it, I received an error message saying that I couldn't download it because of a network error.  My Macbook is not on a network at the moment.  How can I get the driver so I can print?

You can also install this update directly (not through app store):

If you want us to help more, you will need to give us more detailed info. "It didn't work" leaves me wondering exactly what you've done so far.
For example, after clicking Add/+ and selecting the printer you want, have you waited for a full minute for the Mac to find the driver
    - OR -
when it starts searching for driver, have you tried going to the pull-down menu where it says "Use: Auto-select," and choosing "Select Printer Software..." to make a manual selection?

  • How do I install a SSD drive - the Bios does not allow changing to AHCI mode

I have a Windows 7, HP ENVY approx 1.5 years old.  I want to install an SSD drive, however the BIOS seems to be locked, or does not include options to change the SATA connection to AHCI or RAID.
How does one unlock the BIOS, or change the sata settings to allow an SSD drive to be installed?

    Hi:
AHCI is enabled by default on today's HP consumer notebooks.
Nothing can be done to actually see a setting, or change the setting to anything other than AHCI etc.
